there must be many correction made before peace is possible. one of the problems is there is no longer a universally agreed on set of moral cords in a community any more. now a days, every one wants to make up their morals codes to live by. this is clearly flawed and causes conflicts. it would be like each person making their own traffic laws.
we need to be united in our purpose.

Hell no, I think we already got over that in the 20th century with all the failed utopias (and realize that those utopias were on a tiny tiny scale compared to the entire freaking world).
@ The Collection, it doesn't matter how united in purpose people are, even in very very small groups with a united purpose, it's hard to not have conflict, in the world, it's impossible; not improbable, impossible.

maybe we need an upgrade. the most successful empires of the world, roman, china, britain, etc, removed any thing that opposed their ways.
open thinking about the matter is what leads to conflict and revolt. we need to limit their freedom and put more restrictive laws in place to maintain the peace and order.
if personal opinion can't be spread as easy, conflicts would be less likely to result.

I dont really think peace is pssible.People talk about everyone should try and compromise and just get along and stuff.
Not the way things always work.
People want diffrent things and we all know they usually want their way correct?
So if people want diffrent things then someone else then off course they would battle out at it.

War is part of the natureof a human being. However restricting reproduction (whether on a personal level or simply not allowing rape), murder, and living in houses rather than under the elements are all also defying the "natural" order of the species of human animal. However most societies attempt to put a restriction on humans acting entirely upon their animal instincts. I beleive human's are capable of progressing beyond their simple animal wired in instincts and becoming a better creature than the flesh and blood we default to. However do I beleive that the human species is capable of doing so before exterminating itself, very very very unlikely.

Humans have the power to create, to maintain, and to the destroy.
Possible, oh yes. It is our decision. We can, but unfortunately, we don't. Maybe verbally, we say, "I vote peace!", but in our actions are completely be done otherwise. In our current situations... technologies are advancing at a tremendous rate. If we want to establish peace, EVERYONE needs to lean toward spiritual path. In another world, we need to keep up with morality as our knowledge go up. Because knowledge can be use as a weapon, but with enough wisdom, we can maintain a peaceful life.
Sometimes, people needs to check themselves and see what they're doing to the world.

Peace? it's probable. But some people don't like peaceful, therefore it may not be achieved worldwide.
What i question is the ways that others have attempted to attain peace.
For example, the church during the Crusades period. The church went on holy wars, also known as crusades, in order to bring Christianity and peace to the world. The Great War was believed back then to be the first and last war, and would lead to peace and unity in the end. Wars don't sound so peaceful to me, no matter what the purpose for it may be. It's still violent and affects homes and families. They were so wrong.
The reason for the Iraq War was to change the government in Iraq. But did Iraq ask for this? No. There could have been more peaceful ways of negotiation if Bush insisted a change in the government. If he started the war in hopes to end terrorism and suicide bombers, it didn't work. Suicide bombers cant be stopped, its personal!
People have tried to promote peace in the world in drastic measures in the form of violence. That's just contradictory. It's like saying, "LETS MAKE PEACE THROUGH VIOLENCE! YEAH!" ...
The idea of having a more peaceful nation is what we're aiming for. Less violence, more love. Globalization and unity instead of separation and racism.
I went to new york recently to listen to a talk by the editor of Newsweek. He says that while America has encouraged many countries to open up and globalize, America itself has failed to do the very thing they were promoting.
Though peace will not likely happen world wide, it can begin in a family, a small community, a country maybe.
As individuals, we can start peace. We can start with ourselves then to those people around us. If you can inspire yourself and others to be peaceful to one another, then at least a small part of the world is at peace.

- It is very possible.
- It's just very unlikely. If everything were to be peaceful for one day, it'd really be in total destruction and eruption among how peaceful it was and how easy it'd be to gain control or break the law and stuffs..

Possible?: No.
Probable?: No.
In our power-hungry society, I don't think we can attain peace.
Since wars come and go, massive destruction and hate cannot be helped.

If everyone was peacful, and no body fought, the worl would probably end. I mean without agression there isn't much to feul on. Some things would just never get done.
Plus you never know / can help when phycos like hitler are born.
so yeah absolute peace is impossible.

I don't think Hitler and the Nazi party were any more psycho than the other parties in Germany at the time. >__<
Anti-semitism was rife; everybody blamed the November Criminals for losing WWI... Hitler and the Nazi party were no more extreme than a lot of the parties, they just happened to be the ones who got to the top and Hitler went rife with power.
Doesn't excuse the stuff he ordered to happen, though. D:
Or everybody under him who carried it out. And put orders in themselves.
But that's... the nature of humans following orders. Even the best, most level-minded people will do shit things.

Personally, I would hate it if there was absolutely nothing but peace all the time. By that, I'm including no minor arguments, no wars, no disagreements at all, just everyone getting along and being happy.
The way I see it, if we do ever get to that state of everyone getting along, then we're probably all lying to ourselves. It really is a good thing to argue, because that shows that at least you have the brain cells to figure out what you believe in and try to stand up for it, rather than just blindly agreeing with everyone else and avoiding everything that might lead to a conflict. As long as we disagree with each other, then I guess that shows that we're still individuals. And human.

No it isn't possible.
Let's consider this: Homo sapiens are under the kingdom Animalia, which contains all animals.
As we know, Violence is basic animal behavior. Animals, of course, including humans. Though we can reduce the number of violence, it's never really gone, hence singe peace is the total lack of violence, and violence can never be completely eradicated, peace is not possible.

"Peace", if such a thing even actually exists, is not only not likely, but not even possible as long as mankind has a place in the world. Since man was first capable of cognitive thought, there has been turmoil and unrest. The opposite of peace isn't war, its human nature. Humans have never been able, for even the briefest amount of time, to agree with one another.
Yes, the leading cause of war these days is either religion or politics, but you have to understand that in order for there to truly be "peace", ALL conflict has to be brought to an end. And THEN you have to look at the way humans operate. We exist to argue with each other... about EVERYTHING. People get into fights over parking spots, for christ's sake.
Peace is a VERY general term and thus while some people may think to jump and lump it together with war and make war the opposite of it, that's not actually true. The opposite of war is simply a lack of warfare, but it isn't peace. Why? Because things are not "peaceful" as long as people out there are arguing or fighting(no matter how small the fight may be).
So then we turn to 'ok... is an end to warfare possible?'. The answer to this is yes, it is possible. Probable? No, not likely. Look at history... and we all know the age old rule that history repeats itself. Even when the rest of us were experiencing times without warfare, the middle east and parts of Africa and the like were locked in constant warfare. It was simply not as massive or wide scale as anything we may wage(we being bigger countries with more money), so thus people overlooked it.
Also, most of that warfare was fought not necessarily by governments, but by different factions/tribes/groups/etc. It was, nonetheless, warfare. A government does not need to be involved for it to be a war.
So there really is no way that peace will be possible. As long as people are capable of disagreeing with one another and arguing or starting petty fights of one kind or another over things, "peace" can not exist.

No one is going to be able to stop war for good, unless we as a whole see the destruction we cause and conciously make an effort to stop it. That doesn't require the extremes implied in "Equlibrium". Only a simple recognition of the havoc and a realisation we can't survive with all this war

well in order to gain peace you must compromise. In order to compromise you need to make sacrifices whether there is actual destruction or not. It's just the way things work. You can't gain peace without some sort of loss.

World peace was once achieved by an American president and his twin brother (or was it just a normal brother... this doesn't make me sound very convincing neh?). It lasted for a few short minutes after the ceremony started before both Presidents were assassinated...
Look it up yourself, I can't remember the details. My history teacher told me this once when I asked if world peace was possible (we were studying WWII).

yer it is ironic. The thing is what are we fighting for? The human race is truly pointless all we can ever "discover" is somthing that is already there. fighting to own is pointless we are here to take all we can from the planet then to die maybe leaving a child to do exactly the same...
our problem is that we take and hardly give. if we could change that we would have to change our personalities and the way our minds work, peace is near impossible in todays society

What we need to do is teach our children the right and the wrong. You have to start at the base, then work up.
We'll never reach peace, but at least we'll have a little safer of a world.
There are so many parents that just do not hold their children accountable for the wrong things they do, and most of these children grown up not caring one bit about human life, or anything like that.

Everything is possible. It's just the probability of the fact. xD
I don't think it's very likely that peace will ever be spread throughout the world. Humans are more prone to engage in fights and disputes with each other because it's just our nature to always be the dominate one, so entire countries fight for their own cause so they can be the top country and the dominate one when it comes to being able to keep the rest of the world basically in their hands. So I think that no matter what, there will always be disputes and unhappiness, because with complete peace, something would just be amiss. It isn't like the human instinct to be completely peaceful with everyone else, so it just won't happen, no matter what. Who knows, maybe even beyond death there will be war and brutal fights. It really makes me wonder about that, though. xD
