so does anyone ever feel like they are pregnant when they know they shouldn't be? maybe i'm just doing it to myself, but i've been having bad heartburn, really tired, breast pain, i felt some flutters in my right side all weekend, and now it feels like my bones down there are moving like it does when you are preggers. :( i still have the Mierna IUD, so I don't what the deal is. just thought i'd ask and see what you all thought!

Nope, generally when I'm pregnant is the only time I feel like I'm pregnant.

heart burn is rather common especiailly if you had tomatoes (okay, at least for me and a bunch of random other people I know) Flutters could just be your digestive system doing it's thing and breast pain is often also associated with "that time of the month"
But if you are concerned you should probably get a home pregnancy test to confirm. If you are pregnant, you'd want the IUD removed ASAP.

ok thanks mellie!! will the home test pick the hormones, or will the hormones from the IUD intercept? (if that makes any sense)

I've gotten pregnant on birth control.... And I know right away... Just a feeling... That I am pregnant... I know sooner then at home tests can tell me... So no can't say that I do....I had a ton of false negetives with Sean so my husband wouldn't let me test until my period was a week late with Ellie :P According to the nurses Ellie was VERY close to 40 weeks when I went in at 39 for her induction. And if that was so... I got pregnant the week of my last Pap... :P Just as I had suspected hehe....

I get "flutters" they are called ghost kicks an are usually more common in women who have had multiple children. Mine actually stop when I get pregnant (that is until the lil one starts kicking on their own.)....

The IUD can cause problems if you are pregnant... They are hormones that you don't want with a baby growing in there...

A home test will pick it up. Your body doesn't make HCG unless you are pregnant. And that's the hormone that home tests test for. Home tests pick it up early enough. At least for me. 7 days after an embryo transfer...I think it would still be over a week before your missed period if it was like a normal pregnancy test. I find the HPT brand...at least I think that's the one that says pregnant/not pregnant...to be the ones that test positive soonest. If you get a negative, but still feel you might be pregnant, test again in a couple of days. Don't pee on another stick right then.

Do you have a planned parenthood or anything of the sort around? You could probably get a pregnancy test there, and they do paps etc. I believe they also do maternity care...but it might depend on the clinic around you as to what they offer.

I have stopped trying to get pregnate... every time my period is late or i don't have one it really doesn't bother me. I just think its stress or becasue i am so flipping fat. I don't have any kids but i do have step sons. So i really wouldn't know what to look for if i was pregnant. I think i have given up becasue my fiance and i have been trying for 2 years now and its just not working. He thinks there is something wrong with him and i think there is something wrong with me and of course without money you would never know. My oldest step son is 14 and he keeps bugging me to have a baby brother or sister for him when he comes back in June and i keep telling him ill get him one from wal-mart... but it doesn't work like that with him becuase he already knows where babies come from. I also have a 3 year old step son ... we share a birthday... but we rarely get to see him. Both boys are not really my fiances but he has been there for them since they were babies and both their real fathers don't want anything to do with them.... I love both my Step sons and they both call me mom. its kinda cute lol

hmm we do have a planned parenthood! thanks for that suggestion! would they charge for a pap smear? i guess i could them tomorrow and see what they say.

so my husband thinks i'm nuts. he doesn't know how i could get preggers with the IUD, but i know it is highly possible.

For planned parenthood it depends on your income if they charge or not or if you have insurance. Like I went while I was 19. and I had insurance through my parents so, going there would have been more expensive than my doctor but then they asked if any results of any tests needed to be private/secret and I told them yes so, because of that they disregarded my insurance and EVERYTHING was free. pap smear, an actual exam and a rapid HIV test were all free there. I think the only thing they charge for at that point is a herpes tests. those are too pricey to cover but they will do physicals to give you a physical yes or no for things like that. But again this is if you qualify for that income bracket. BUT.. they tell you up front when you go in how much everything would cost.

I wouldn't say highly possible, but it is possible.
I've never gotten pregnant while on birth control though. <3

I don't know if they charge or not, I don't think they do...but I've never actually been to one. But I had friends in high school that would go to be treated for STD's/get paps/birth control. So since high schoolers could afford it with out their parents knowledge I would guess that if they do charge it's a very small fee? Maybe even a sliding scale? I guess I could look it up on their sites... hurm.

tried to look them up to see if we had one, and on the website it said we didn't. :( guess i might have to wait till we have monies. i told hubby i missed my yearly and he says, "oh i didn't know!" and got upset. but we didn't have money so i didn't want to bother him about it only to listen to him complain because it costs so much. i don't have insurance.

Yeah, not having insurance is a bitch. Did you do a mileage check to see if there was one in a city around you?

I've been to a planned parenthood once and I paid full price :/ had a pregnancy test and I think it was decently cheap...
Quote:
Prices and Payment Information

Price ranges for our pregnancy testing and services are:

pregnancy testing - $25
fertility awareness education - $25-65
postpartum exams - $120
Some services may have additional charge
Taken from their website...
An uninsured pap is like $140+ buck I think... I could be wrong I tried to look it up but to no avail... I have looked it up in the past and found a price before... Maybe they took it down to prevent confusion because I was under the impression that you pay them a set price not a scale price which is a much better idea IMPO....

WOW where do you live though we live in a pretty small town and we have one in town O_o

If you are pregnant, it could kill you with the IUD in. Don't wait. See if you can get to a P.P. or scrape together the $10 or so for a home pregnancy test.

As for feeling preggers while not, yeah, I've questioned it a couple times since my daughter's birth. But most of the time I'm just tired, run down, or having lots of tomatoes/spicy food. It just made me question things since I never get heartburn, nor did I during pregnancy. It's just hitting now.

Er, anyway. Get tested ASAP! It's better safe than sorry. Pregnancies CAN happen with Mirena.

You know, there's even a dollar tree store right next to me and they even have pregnancy tests. granted they aren't those recognized name brands. they probably aren't all that sensitive either and they definitely don't have a pretty electronic window readout but I'm pretty sure they still work. if yore experiencing flutters I'm sure you're well within range for a standard test to pick it up. f not then yeah. walmart. target. any place will have more recognized brands for $10-15.

and yeah pregnancies can happen using any birth control method or even combinations of methods. nothings 100% aside from not having sex. IUDs I hear especially need to be checked to make sure they're still in place. BUT mirena also has a hormone aspect that should help even if the placement aspect of the IUD fails.

My sister in law used a dollar store pregnancy test and it gave her a positive answer.... I've read that tests aren't so much known for false positives but false negatives from being taken too early! They all read for the same hormone I can't see why one is "better" then the other...

Dana... Thank you.... Both of my boys were VERY excited! My daughter on the other hand could really have cared less and wound up eating through most of Christmas morning :P

yeah false positives almost don't exist without there being something crazy going on. false negative happen quite a bit though. which is why most doctors recommend just waiting until a missed period before bothering to do a home test.

hmm well i'll talk to hubby and see what he thinks. he's pretty uneducated in this area. :/ i think he just doesn't pay attention, so he thinks that since i have the IUD there's no way i could be pregnant. woke up this morning and my boobs were sore again.

we live in southwest Kansas. there's pretty much nothing out here. if do get something then the city officials run them off.

they said the pregnacy test ARE a good buy.
and if it's good enough to catch your horrmone level,
who cares what the brand name is, right?
i mean we're just peeing on the darn thing.
good luck, llonka.
get the home pregnancy test!
we don't wanna lose you!
oh, if you don't have it, ask brother-in-law.

Sorry for being frank, but I'd demand the pregnancy test. Dollar store brands are fine. He'll be singing another tune if you are pregnant and both of you are in danger. Like I said, it can kill both of you. I would hope that would mean something to him.. :/

I'm with Chi on this one... Get the pregnancy test... I know what it is like to have 7cents to your name but I am sure someone around you can let you borrow a buck for a dollar store test... and should you find out you are, then you can go and apply for medical help and go to plan parenthood and discuss things with them, decide the proper plan of action from there!
