I don't think the night thing is being made better by the fact that I am having trouble sleeping with her so we have been attempting to get her to sleep in her playpen bassinet (Her actual bassinet is in the hallway because I've been messing with positions of stuffs...)... She's been taking to falling asleep in there fine but she isn't staying asleep now... But sleeping with us she does nothing but wiggle and fidget and fuss...
All my kids get their first tooth around this time. I know my kids get fussy around the time they get their molars in but not as bad as their front teeth... It's usually a couple of days of whining, and then something provokes me to look in their mouths and generally I find the culprit(s)
Ellie has her 4 month check up today... And I'm going to ask the doctor if he can check Sean's ear... He's been complaining about it hurting... And this morning he woke up crying and asking us why it hurt :'( poor guy has had more ear infections then I can count so I am hoping it is something else!

Oh no! The ear infections sound terrible! :( Does the doctor know why he gets them? It could be something he does on a regular basis, in which case it might be avoidable..

I had rotten ear infections as a child up until my teens. Awful, horrible ear infections. :/ Thus far Terra's escaped them. Odd, since Cole had them too. I'm grateful for it.
I hope the kiddos are on the mend soon. It has to be tiring when no one is healthy or content because of it. ;_;

Medicare Costs Too Much and They Better Not Cut It | Truthout Because really, who uses medicare anyway? :roll: I don't think Republicans have come up with one thing to make me not want to slam their heads into walls yet. /mini political rant
Awww, I'm sorry Sean has an ear infection Jazzy. That's always the pits. >.< Hopefully the antibiotics take root fast and get him feeling better ASAP!
Kuras got this runny/stuffy nose thing going on. She was having a hard time sleeping last night too. Up until at least 11. I felt bad, since today is the first day back at school after Spring Break. She said it wasn't quite so bad this morning though. So I really hope it's going away. I didn't have anything to give her last night either. We'd used up most of our child medications a while ago and if we still have some I have no idea where they are!~
I would rub my kiddos gums when they were teething. I think they only had real issues with the first ones that came in. They should be coming up on their last sets of molars soon...but since about 6 months or so I haven't had any teething issues with any of them. But yeah, I'd rub their gums, grab their little gum brush and just go over the spots that had teeth coming in for 10 or 15 minutes. They enjoyed gnawing on me and it got their gums clean. Fun stuff. :P

The birth control thing is the biggest upset in my household currently, since my medication (if dropped from my coverage) would go from $10 a month to $50 a month, and I take it for legit medical reasons moreso than for preventing babies. >3>;;
Hubby has stated to me (and to his boss) that we have to move to Canada (and work for his company's biggest competitor) if Santorum becomes president. His boss said, "Well, I guess I better start campaigning for Obama..." :rofl:

I won't allow Sean to have gromits put in... They cause issues as a person gets older... He hasn't had an ear infection in I think 1.5 years... But he was plagued by them when he was a baby. He got his first around 6 months and had them non stop for a very long time! He has one now as well it is just the beginning of one and he got some antibiotics and ear drops. Ellie had her first ear infection a couple of weeks ago and is on the last bit of her antibiotic regimen...
Ellie is on doing well on the other hand... The doctor was giggling at her.... Size... He said "he didn't know whether to say: I can't believe she's already 4 months or that she was ONLY four months" :P
@Mellie... I rub Ellie's gums as well... She makes a cute purrrrr-ing noise when I do...
On a side note why do people have to be such asshats... :( I was in front of Sean's school but because I had to get him something for lunch (because the appointment ran over) I was on the wrong side of the street to find parking. So I got to where the bus lane parking was (it's a small street for a two way it's the same size as my street which is a one way) and pulled towards a driveway so I could make a 3 point turn more easily, and I looked before doing this and the street was BARE except for parked cars both directions. When I got to the halfway point of my 3 point turn I went to reverse and looked to my left and there was a car RIGHT THERE... Almost on top of me... I looked and the guy started waving me on like I should keep going but there was no damn way I could he was all the way over into the right hand lane area even though he should have been in the left most area.... So I evened myself into the bus parking so they could pass... He rolls his window down and starts asking me "who makes turns like that" and saying things like: " That's what got you hit last time" (Uh no btw, my car was sideswipe in the middle of the night while parked with no one in it ass hat... Assuming makes an ass out of you and me jerk) and "Your baby is right there, what if I would have hit you" etc etc etc.... The whole time my head was in a fog, but looking back on it... I DID look, the guy either busted ass around the corner, OR he pulled out of a driveway... Cause there was NO ONE on the street...

Re: Food Network Recipes
For whatever reason, some of their celebrity-based recipes are inaccurate. I've watched episodes where, as they are cooking, the cook says, "Add 1/2 cup this!" and the recipe reads less or more than that. I don't know why that is.
I have a lot of luck with recipes from there, oddly, but there have been a couple bombs. I'd be disheartened if one of the bombs had been something that took a lot of ingredients and time, like pie.

I don't particularly care about whether or not a book is ghostwritten, but if a celeb is going to slap her name on it, she might as well at least check over the recipes to make sure that they will actually work out. My concern is that the ghostwriters are coming up with the recipes, instead of the chefs.
But, I'm also assuming that the celeb chefs actually know what they're talking about, which might not necessarily be the case either xD

Sean's teachers are going to have an ear full from me tomorrow D:< they told Sean to throw away the sandwich and juice I bought him for lunch... The nearly FOUR DOLLAR SANDWICH!!... Sean was so hungry when I picked him up he was in tears for almost an hour... And I was running errands still so he had to wait until 5 to get anything to calm the tummy pangs T__T he eats breakfast at 7AM and dinner is usually at 6PM that is a VERY long time for a little tummy T_T
I did however get the SNAP situation figured out... Our medical benefits will be restored in 72 hours and we should be keen for April as well *breathes a huge sigh of relief** as far as food... The worker told me that if Michael gets a large payment like that at anytime not to report it but rather to point out that it was following large points in time where there were no payments at all...

I'm glad it worked out! I knew they couldn't deny you for long, and it's even better news that it will be restored ASAP!
What the heck happened with the lunch?? O_o
@Keyori
I usually get my recipes from online bloggers and ones that are heavily peer reviewed. I can't remember the last time I used a cookbook. What do you usually use? I'm curious if books will be phased out, or if there's too much history and memories with the tangibles.
I really, really need to get my favorite recipes onto index cards. The problem is, a lot of the meals I cook are from my head, and I never use measurements. :s

I've only used two cookbooks. One was a diabetic cookbook I found. I got it because it was super easy for me to get portions correct relative to whatever food pyramid I wanted to use (I'm a fan of the Canadian one actually). The recipes were all really simple to modify too, so I could be really creative with seasonings and substitutions.
The other is the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. My dad has one from the 80's.
Otherwise I just use Allrecipes or occasionally blogs like Pioneer Woman.

I'm the same with cooking... Unless it is something new I am cooking for the first time... ><;
I don't know exactly what happened with the sandwich... Sean was so historical that all I could get was I threw my sandwich away, and Mrs. Mary told me to... He burst into tears sooo many times last night it wasn't even funny.. Every little thing set him off... I am going to try to see what the teachers say today. If I don't like their stories I am going to report the incident to the principle... Life doesn't always allow for me to be at home when I need to be and there are just times that I can't get him his lunch before 12:20PM (I normally shoot for him to eat at 11AM... But that doesn't always happen like I want it to... Sometimes he starts eating later and still has some when he rolls into class other times he has just started eating in the car on the way over... They should not have taken his food from him in either case... an empty belly is not conducive to any learning... Your brain is too focused on being hungry... Add to that that he is ALWAYS tired cause his 3 year run of napping at 1PM is now when he is in school....
Maybe Blaze is right... Maybe I should just home school them both and tell everyone else to "f" off...

I've debated home schooling, but I don't know how I could. I don't think Cole would be on board for it, and neither one of us is willing to not work. Nor could we, with what will be our monthly student loan payment.
The system here is nuts, though. They keep talking about consolidations, which means she could very well have a 60 minute bus ride. I have a feeling some people in town might rally together and offer group home schooling. I want her to socialize, but I don't want her to have to get up at 4:30am to get to the closest school. We'll figure something out. It's not like it needs to be a heavy worry for her right now. She's 18 months. :lol:
Let me know what they say about the sandwich. I'm definitely curious. You'd think they would have ensured he'd eaten. It's hard to focus when hungry!

I honestly don't know how moms find the time to cook. Teach me the art of multitasking! Hehe.
Jaz: Good luck with the teachers! I hope they have a legitimate excuse. Do you know other homeschooling families for guidance and so your children have others to play with if you ever did go through with the idea? I guess there's probably some sort of community available..

i'm wondering about the sandwich thing too. i'm sure the teachers didn't go hungry all day, so why should Sean? that kind of thing pisses me off. whether you are at school or work you should have a chance to eat something and use the restroom. and i think when you need to, not when they say you can. :/

It's been my experience that teachers do understand children's needs (even if it doesn't seem like it) and want what's best, so I can't help but think they did not do anything with malicious intent. Sometimes they get stretched out thin with all the other kids they have to attend to. Hopefully these teachers are this way.

i know we shouldn't beat up on them, my mom is a second grade teacher, but I do know sometimes they just don't have enough time or energy to take care of everyone. But even if Sean's teacher was pressed for time, he still should have been able to eat his sandwich. sounds like it hurt him emotionally. poor guy.

I cook because we have food sensitivities. That, and I love to do it I guess. :lol: It's tiring after a long day, but luckily my husband splits the meals. We each cook three nights a week and do the dishes, and then one of us takes the seventh day to cook and give the other a break.
I try to keep weekday meals quick and simple. Tonight I'm braising beef in a sauce I made a couple nights ago. I'll serve it with rice and a veg. I'll have to spend probably thirty minutes prepping the beef and rice, but other than that it just simmers.
Speaking of, I guess I should take some beef out of the freezer. O_o It's past 11 already... I'm finally cleaning. The laundry room and kitchen are done. The living room and entryway are next. If I get to the bathroom today, yay, otherwise I'm asking my husband to do it tomorrow.

I do most of the cooking, but hubby does most of the dishes, so it works out :lol:
I really really need to get cleaning... I cleaned so hard before we left so that we'd have a clean home to come back to, and one of the cats got sick while we were gone and threw. up. EVERYWHERE. I got the stuff off of the tile already, since that was easy enough, but I'm really not sure what to do about the carpet. It's dried on. And hubby managed to throw away the vacuum filter without putting a new one in, so we need to buy one of those too.
Do any of you have any drain unclogging tips? Our shower drain is the pits right now. We already tried drain-o and that worked for about a day and then it clogged up again. We can't really do the "stick the hanger down and pull out a disgusting ball of hair" trick since the drain cover is cemented into the floor of the shower. In the past we've just used the really hardcore drain cleaning stuff from the hardware store, but I think the pipes in this place are too old for that and we'd corrode them by trying that. I'm really at a loss and I don't want to call the landlady if I don't have to since she's like 70 and has a hard time getting around. >3>;;

for the cat vomit, what about a wet washcloth and try to scrub it really hard? unless you have a shampooer. those things are amazing for cat messes. ours like to potty on the floor while we are gone. :P
for the drain i dunno. i know what you mean about calling the landlady though. in our apartment the tub got all clogged and yucky. have you googled it? LOL! i'll try to help you..
i need to get cleaning too. :XP
