Yeah, the last thing I want to do is be a landlady. xD

Hubby really really really wants to own a home. I do too, but I don't want to do the whole "starter home, family home, retirement home" thing like he does. If we do get a starter home, I want it to be one that we could stay in just in case we couldn't flip to another house. But, maybe by then the market will recover.

Either way, it's really just something I don't want to chance, especially with the property prices we're dealing with. If we were in the midwest, where property is more affordable, it wouldn't be as big of an issue for me, because we could probably afford two houses for the price of one out here.

Ugh, I could have afforded 3 in the midwest for what we paid for ours! D: /tragic. But ya know, live and learn. I wouldn't have known nearly enough about what to look for in a house or what to check out had we not done this. But then, I think renting a house-paying all the ulitities etc- would have been about the same since you'd have to call and get things fixed or get estimates on things...but we didn't consider that as an option for us at the time sadly. ^^;; We thought "why waste money paying someone elses mortgage? We might as well just get our own!" And I still see the truth in that, but now I think we'd ended up wasting more money than we saved in thus far. I'm still hopeful it will be to our benefit in the long run though. <3

You can own 3 in the midwest but not have a job that can pay for them... >.>;; the grass isn't really all that green round here....

lol True!

We should have just saved up and then outright bought a house out there!

We did some wage-shopping for hubby and his wages wouldn't really change regionally (which is unfortunate for us being where we are now). But we both agreed that if he got an offer that was $12k more a year than he gets now, we'd move for it. His other option at the time he was job-hunting last was in Wisconsin. A bit cold for my tastes, but definitely more jobs available for me out there.

What kinds of things did you learn, Mellie?

Mostly about fixing things, what to look for when things are starting to go bad, problem areas, things that inspections seem to overlook and so you have to know to try out before you agree to buy.

Random Question: Hey Mellie can you manipulate an avatar using the powers of mod oddification?

I've learned a lot buying this house... Like to beat the seller with a stick to turn on the water and to have the water company speak directly to us not to the seller >.>

Ah, inspections... hubby and I are at least lucky in that regard, his mom (and grandma and aunt) are in real estate. And if we go through their parent company, we can get a decent deal on commission through an agent out here, too.

The only experience I feel like I missed out on was that I've never worked for Habitat for Humanity. I got pulled from my team right before they went to do just that... which was good for me in a bunch of other ways, but I really wish I could've garnered some home building experience so that I could learn basic repairs on my own. Instead I just know how to strip an entire house down to the studs by hand. xD

Gotta strip it down before you can build it up! I'd love to do a habitat for humanity project. <3 Learn a whole heck of a lot!

Jaz- Nope, I don't think I have any avi manipulating abilities. What do you need done?

I am bored with my avi... and I want someone to change it... :P I thought maybe you could mess with things on other people's accounts without using their passwords....

Yeah, that's very true. And I learned that I never want to live in a home with plaster walls, because they are a PAIN to take down compared to dry wall (sheet rock).

I think I did learn a little bit just by reverse-engineering. By taking out stuff like carpeting, I feel like I have a good idea of how to install it. The only thing I didn't deal with was wood flooring, but I imagine it would be the same as tile (subfloor, some intermediate like chipboard, then the actual flooring).

Also, blow-in insulation is awful and I will never use it if I can avoid it.

One day I hope I can do some crazy home modifications like these.

Jaz- oh, nope. I can check inventories, trades and disable your signature, but only Assistant Admins and above can alter avi's. (:

Keyori- OMG my cats would love something like that! XD Freaking awesome! We pulled up our carpeting but we had other people install it...I was afraid we wouldn't do it right, and it came with a warranty if they did it. xD I've never put in flooring...but I don't imagine it's too hard. If I had someone to show me I'm sure I could do it. (Hell, I could probably find a tutorial on Youtube and learn just from that or Lowes website)

Key: Good luck with the housing!! I don't even want to think about where or how I'm going to live when I'm done with school. ><
Wow, I love that Cats' House link! I hope you get to learn how to do that stuff, too. :)

Mel: I'm going to Loma Linda University, but I live in Colton (the okay part, hehe). I was just at the Moreno Valley Mall today to visit the tarot card place. :) I used to go to the mall (though not the tarot place) more frequently when I went to school in UC Riverside.

lol, my first daughter was born at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. (:

I miss the Moreno Valley Mall. Though when I lived there I always complained about how small it was and how much better The Tyler Mall was. xD Then I moved to NC to a town where there was a (s)mall. 7 shops total and nothing good in any of them. And now I'm in Kodiak, AK that doesn't even have a mall!

Hahaha, we would complain about the same thing, but when I didn't have a car, I would take the bus, and Moreno Valley was only 30 minutes away, as opposed to Tyler, which was 1 hour.

It's funny because Tyler really wasn't that far from mo-val. It's just that the 91 freeway on ramp really sucked and backed everything up for days! xD

tired mama.....

I want one day... just ONE... that I can get ready for my day to completion... From waking up and drinking my 2-3 cups of coffee to putting my shoes on and doing my hair.....where I don't have an interruption by someone else needing or wanting something... Ellie has made my showers for the past 2 weeks absolutely miserable... T_T she screams through the whole damn thing.... But she is too big for a baby bath tub now more parts of her hang out of the tub then don't... but still a little too little for a big tub... My shower is my sanctuary.... And I'm getting screamed at the whole dang time... To top it off it's dirty.... :'( I asked Bryan to clean it this weekend, and I don't know what he did in there for the 30 minutes he was in there but he sure as hell didn't clean it.... There are empty tubes and lids in the bottom of the shower (I keep my shampoo and conditioner on the floor cause they fall off the shelves cause who ever "fixed" our house was an absolute retard....) and you can't tell me he thought that those BELONG in the shower so he put them back... T__T I asked Dillon if he could help me and get the bathrooms done (he did the upstairs so it is actually done well...) and he said well I thought your brother did the downstairs :( and I just don't have the time or energy by the time he gets home to tell him he didn't clean it RIGHT... T_T

Ellie has been a miserable sleeper lately too even after we brought her back into our bed, and to add insult to injury, I have been having a HELL of a time falling asleep... Dillon and I lay down at the same time... Usually between 10-11 though last night it was closer to midnight... and his head hits the pillow and he's OUT... While I lay there and roll and roll and can't shut off my mind and then he starts to snore........ T_T

I guess the good news though is since spring break has started, I have gotten a lot done... Take that mom.... Without the nearly 2 hours a day I spend in the car or the constant back and forths to both schools and Dillon's work... I've been able to get a ton done... It just makes me more confident that if Dillon and I can actually get the time without some other jerk offs opinions being thrown in to discuss the idea of home schooling, I think I could actually do it... Now if only I could become god and make Ellie immune to all these darn illnesses/allergies that are rampaging our house right now, I might have a clean home... A really clean and even organized home!!!!!! AMAZING EH??

Speaking of my mom she called again today....... and pretty much insulted all of us except my youngest brother again... **rolls eyes** I'd avoided talking to her for 2? weeks already maybe three... I really don't want to see or talk to her anymore... :/

Why'd you bother answering the phone? lol. Since you're too sweet to ignore her for all of eternity, you could just tell her you're super busy and have to go and then hang up once she starts on the tirade of insults. I did that to my dad a few times and he caught on that I don't want to hear his negativity about my life as I don't care one way or the other about his opinion.

Is it common for her to have a pattern of, "insult daughter without realizing and/or caring, go without talking for two weeks, reestablish contact, repeat insulting of daughter without realizing and/or caring"? Yikes, if so. I'm sorry you have to go through that. I think what Mellie suggested is a good idea. It's a non-confrontational way of getting the point across that you don't want to hear it. You're selectively replying to her, in other words. If you don't let her know you're bothered/don't give her the chance to go on about what she doesn't like, she should in theory get over it. In time.

I also live with a man that has no issues sleeping whatsoever. "Bed? Okay! ZZZzzzZZZ!" while I'm awake, and usually Terra's awake. Regardless, I'm the last to fall asleep and oftentimes Terra takes a while. I've lucked out in that lately she and I go to bed earlier, fall asleep easily, and Cole's doing whatever. Where I don't get enough sleep (Terra's also being a crappy sleeper due to teething), I tend to go to bed right when she does, regardless of what I have piled up. I barely scrape by. Cole will stay up and then passively complain about how he's so tired and never gets to sleep in. I feel as if I've been rather dismissive of those types of complaints lately, but dammit, he could try going to bed earlier.

Are you going to look into everything you'll need for homeschooling?

I've been studying today. I've mentioned I have a big exam coming up that I have to take in order to be allowed to do my internship. I did the practice exam last night and failed (expected). I wanted to gauge where I was weak, and apparently it's everywhere. On the plus side, the chapters I'm studying in the prep book make sense, and those mini quizzes I had no issues with.

Now it's a case of getting through the book in one week, on top of work and regular classes being scheduled. Blah.

I am still without shoes or my glasses.... Though I finally got my hair done.... Ellie has eaten 3 times and napped twice in the period of time between that post and this one.... I've yelled countless times at the boys out of pure frustration with them because they are suppose to be cleaning their room but instead Michael seems to be intentionally hurting Sean and then "cuddling" him so tight that his cries of pain are muffled.... Said yelling wakes the baby and the cycle begins again with a screaming baby....

Aaanyhoo... That is a good idea Mellie... I might have to try that though I wonder if she would EVER get that that was why I was all of the sudden "busy" or if she would just call back an hour later...

Poor Jazzy...your situation sounds oddly familiar though, with out the added baby anyway. >.<
Even if your mom does call back in an hour, when she starts griping remember- you're still busy. ;D You're a stay at home mom, you're ALWAYS busy!

You can do it chi!

Scott and I both have sleep issues. As do the girls it seems. I love Aaron so much though, we'll finish story time and we'll be all alright kiddos time to go to bed! and he wanders off and as soon as his head hits his pillow he's out. (though last night he didn't give me a hug and I heard crying so I was like what's wrong aaron? and he's all I forgot to give you a hug! *melty heart* ;-; ) But after he gave me a hug he was out. Kid can fall asleep in wind/lightning/rain storms no problem light on or off. The girls...they just want to stay up and talk. I wish I could find a way to separate them...but nothing that would actually work comes to mind.

You can do it Chi... Cause your AWESOME!!!!

Chi... My mom's USUAL behavior is call **insert child's name here** insult for an hour or so... Call or see a few hours later and act like everything is all hunky dory... I chose not to talk to her for 2-3 weeks... I don't like how she acts like she never insulted you... :(

The boys have no real problems sleeping... Sean particularly has always been head hit pillow sean go nini!

I wonder what she'd say to, "Oh man, Mom. I was just in the middle of _____ so Dillon can just rest when he comes home. Gotta go!"

xD *shot*

"I have to sweep, vacuum, dust, bake cookies, start dinner... and mend my apron. Sorry!"

lol she'd probably wig... She never thinks I do anything around the house cause the house is in a constants limbo between disorganized and needs a little more work but all in all is clean.... And nothing I do do is for Dillon... As far as she is concerned I only clean my own clothes and make everyone else do their own... That is why I was up till midnight folding just mine RIGHT???

In other less irritating new... I was eating a banana for lunch... Yes it is 1pm and all I've had today is a cinnamon raisin bagel (that I wouldn't have had if Dill didn't make it) breakfast and a banana for lunch V_V but Ellie has been quite trying on me today.... I think she's on her 8th meal of the day now :o so anyways I was eating the banana and Ellie was pawing at it over and over... So I gave her the smallest taste.... OMG this child's eyes lit up like no other!!! There was no spitting it out (not intentionally at least she was trying to chew it with the front of her mouth and it kept slipping out... I remember Sean's first bite of carrot (the mushed kind) he wasn't trying to chew it he was trying to suck on it... And it would come right out ><; maybe I should reconsider the 6 months of exclusively breastfeeding O-o
