I have gone backwards with the kids and dishes... Most days getting them to take it to the kitchen is a chore.... Much less scraping and rinsing and putting it IN THE SINK. LOL.

I spent money... To burn it... Oh the fourth! I pray the kids will be like my coworker when I am old and gray and realize what I do for them. O.o not like me and my siblings lol.

Shoot! That's what I meant to do today, head down and get some fireworks for them! I totally forgot! Luckily, there's a huge supply on island right now so I should be able to get them tomorrow. >.> Mostly I need sparklers and those rockets that shoot up, and have the guy parachute down. (So stinkin cool!!)

Giant Gummy Bear kitkat and m&m cake HOW TO COOK THAT Ann Reardon - YouTube

That's the cake she wants. I think I can do it. I hope I can do it. I am thinking that any other food will be prepped by Cole, and/or we get pizza. I am thinking pizza. So many other years I've gone with a full-blown cookout, and I don't have it in me this year regardless of what we do.

Ahhh, the fourth. It's foggy and threatening rain. The town cancelled its festivities, but to be honest I didn't want to go out anyway. Instead we're having company over around noontime and doing a cookout. I got the fruit salad prepped, and Cole got the Mexican salad prepped. I'll go work on a potato salad in a moment, then bake cookies (my favorite bagged mix ;D) for ice cream sandwiches.

That, with the steaks and ground beef we have thawing, should do it. :)

I'm a bit horrified by the size of that gummy bear. The thought of eating it gives me a stomach ache! lol. But the cake is quite lovely! and I was totally fascinated by the cake cutter tool in the beginning. Total Genius! I should get one of those. It would make this whole level cake thing soooo much easier! Not that I bake cakes all that often mind you...but still.

We've been invited over to a friends house for a 4th of July BBQ. We also thought about going out to the beach to set off fireworks...but I think we may do that tomorrow night. Because we can. Also, because the kids can do a beach clean up in the evening and collect all the trash people left and turn it in at the fireworks stand for FREE fireworks, or money. I love that they do that here. Incentives to pick up after yourself and others! We went and combed 2 beaches for trash last year and got $30 worth of fireworks. (:

I am horrified by it, and most of it would be going in the trash... We don't keep corn syrup products in the house. We try to keep refined sugar at a minimum, but... gotta live life, too! Terra may very well change her mind as to what kind of cake she wants, too. We'll see! She's wanted that for 3-4 months though. x_x

Our cookout here went well! We have enough leftovers to eat throughout Sunday morning (I think). The hope is to empty the fridge as much as possible. We still have two steaks and one burger to eat, as well as leftovers of all the salads. Yay!

Fireworks have been cancelled, as was the parade. Bad weather is allegedly on its way. I'm just thankful the weather was nice for us to get through company. The kiddos played outside in Terra's kiddie pool and had a blast running around. It was a great day.

That cake is NUTS! Have you considered a smaller version maybe? Or do cupcake versions of it with normal sized gummies? I've heard the huge gummies are like 40$ o.o

That is awesome Mellie!!! Earth friendly and fun all at the same time! Total win!!!

Our fourth went ok. We had Nachos for dinner. Which everyone but Ellie ate. She wound up finding an oatmeal packet and ate that after the festivities (she got into it then we cooked it for her). We did fireworks from 6 to 9:30 not bad for over a $100 bucks of black powder tubes. My mom use to spend similarly and we got barely 40 minutes out of it. So I think we did good other then I have buyers remorse for spending so much :( Ellie was pretty into it for a while but she had trouble with the noises. Sean did too with certain ones. Liam did well until bedtime hit then he just cried. Poor guy was scared by all the loud booms from our neighbors..this is our first year without a fire ban in like 4 or 5 years so the number of illegal out were insane. we were literally surrounded on all sides by air born fireworks *shivers * I am a total nervous nancy

The power is out this morning due to the high winds and rain brought by Hurricane Arthur. No idea when it's looking to come back. Bah.

It was a little noisy last night with fireworks but not too bad! The storm kept waking me up. I'm just pissy today. I'll save that for when I have laptop access again. Blah.

Our fireworks tend not to start until around 1 AM when it's finally dark enough to see them when they go off. lol We didn't go out and do them lat night, we figured to do them tonight after we've done the farmers market and beach combing. (: It's Alaska, we extend all of our celebrations for DAYS in the summer!

We started ours at 6 it was still pretty bright out we finished around 9:30 but out neighbors literally had truckloads of fireworks including scary illegals. One of which seemed to be a dud until my neighbor picked it up and it shot off between the single drive that just barely separated our houses. >:( they started fire works at 4 and children were lighting off the illegals... I let Mikes light a few fountains but with our supervision and the were fountains not explorers

I have gotten very cranky today so I am going to take a nap fingers crossed everyone allows..

The power is still out. And likely not coming back till July 8th. We will lose the second fridge of food in 12 months. We may lose the chest freezer contents, which is about 250lbs of meat meant to carry us well into 2015. It's a defeated feeling. I am grateful the house is okay. More got worse from Hurricane Arthur.

The rest I'll update from a laptop. We have to go out of town tomorrow, but we'll have to empty the fridge first I reckon. Cole just left for work. I'll bring the machine with me and update once we get settled and showered. I feel icky. Dx

Oh my gosh Chi! That's wretched! No back up generators to keep those essentials going? and waiting until the 8th is the pits! D:

Freaking hurricanes. I hope everything gets sorted out sooner for you guys. <3

The Farmers market was a bit of a bust this week...We sold a lot of wallets and hair bows, not so much in the way of bread though. I'd rather sell out on the bread and have the other goods for the next week since those keep! Eep! Looks like we'll be freezing a bunch of it for our personal use if we can't get rid of it today/tomorrow!

Maybe more will sell tomorrow!

Chi I am so sorry! Do you know anyone there that has electricity right now you can borrow electric from??? Maybe? It sucks right after you moved in and spent so much money on closing and then no food???

I did start feeling better towards the end of the day. I was going to call and cancel a visit to a party for my friends son. But I am glad I didn't!!! It was what finally pulled me out of the rut.

We got a notice about our yard:/ so we have been working on it :( I almost want to be a bitch and call on everyone else who have crappy outer yards but not until I am done cleaning mine... We have 10 days bah

You live in a community where they tell you what's what with your yard? How irritating. Granted we do as well, but that doesn't make it less irritating.

I totally thought about cancelling going to the BBQ last night as well. I just wasn't feeling up for dealing with people, but I ended up having a great time! I realized that me and the host both lost a lot of friends this transfer season, so we're kinda relying on each other right now. It's nice, still having someone around for you. (:

Then today we went out and did fireworks (Scott and I both had some drinks last night and neither of us felt up to driving, so we walked home and picked up the car this morning...just in case.) So anyway, we went out to the beach today and did fireworks then beach combed/picked up. Got a good 5 trash bags full! $10 at the fireworks stand! Aaron got to pick out a bunch of stuff...and I picked up these super cute tanks, that shoot one shot from their top cannon and then showers of sparks from the two guns in the front. It was too cute! We set them up facing each other and had a war! Then with the paratrooper guys...it was pretty epic...if I do say so myself!

We have code enforcement and our weeds were getting our of hand in our front yard. I am pretty ashamed of it honestly... it looks terrible. But apparently our city says sunflowers are considered weeds and we have some growing wild in our outer yard right now that I want to keep but they wont let us... :( so Dillon is weeding around them and we will transplant them into the garden.

I need to get working on the house I am tired but today is my last day before work. I hate that my days off dont feel like days off... they are spent rtrying to keep the kids from waking their dad and doing chores.. blah..

Your fireworks show aounds like it was super cute!!

Your days off sound an awful lot like mine. Oh to have an ACTUAL day off! D:
Today is cleaning and baking so the kids have breakfast items for the week!

That sucks about the sunflowers, I love sunflowers! Hopefully, their transplant goes well and you can still enjoy their natural beauty in the backyard.

The battery in my camera died, so I was unable to get pictures of our "war" but we had a good time all the same!

My days off are spent trying to get Dillon enough sleep to function at work or having him be at work. Then I go back to work and come home to much the same bs. I am so utterly exhausted. Today have been an utter crap shoot. I either have Liam awake and fussing, Ellie is undoing everything or the boys are fighting with us or their siblings... I am so miserable right now. In the last hour and a half Ellie has pooped her pants and covered our upstairs bathroom in shampoo... She is suppose to be napping her and Liam are my hardest to manage while cleaning and I had gotten Liam who is having a terrible teething/gassy/ wonder week day today. He's been non stop fussy except the last hour and a half where Ellie decided to pick up the naughty slack.

I am miserable living in the house the way it is. It is disgusting and I can't do anything about it I am at total wits end...*pulls hair out*

*hugs* I'm sorry sweetie. I totally get it, totally been there, and it gets better. But I'm sure you know that too. It's just so much harder to remember when everything goes down the crapper all in one day.

Mine have been...okay so far. Hopefully it stays because the past week they were complete terrors. They've done...a few of their chores today. I'm hoping to have the house all the way put together by the end of the day. It's made harder as Scott has duty today, so there's the imminent thought of him being called in for a Search and Rescue case. I need to sleep before work tonight at some point... In any case, I've got the kitchen done! 1 room out of... 7? isn't that bad right? If I get my bathroom taken care of today I'll call it a success. lol

I've spent the day attempting dishes. Liam seems like he is a bit better now. I think he had a tummy problem he was refusing to nurse even though he was miserable and normally nursing fixes EVERYTHING. but he cried at the breast cried off etc etc... It was 6 hours and 3 poops before he finally ate right. I am almost done with dishes but he is back and forth fussy still not screaming anymore but fussy. I know it passes. I just wish I had something to help. A nanny while I nurse or a live in maid... Or something. Just to ease one part of it all....

Love you too chi!!! Hope everything is going well <3 let us know how things are with you when you can

I totally feel you on the maid/nanny. Whenever I talk to the surro dads they're like OMG I can't believe you did this with out a nanny... Yeah buddy...and ya know, just because they get older doesn't mean it gets easier! They get more attitude and like each other less... -_-

On the other hand, mine are all playing outside TOGETHER. Nicely. With some new kids that I have no idea where they came from. I'm really hopeful they're new neighbors in one of the houses around here, because all of the kids are having a good time together and laughing. It's so AMAZING to hear Melody laughing outside with other people again. She's normally the first one to get her feelings hurt and run inside for safety. (or to me, depending on where I am)

Is it bad that I cant image having a nanny??? I wouldnt know what to do with them.... uhhh make the kids a sandwich? Take Ellie potty... it is really only when liam is fussy or nursing I think about it... the maid.. if I could have a day to clean my whole house and then have a maid for upkeep that would be amazing lol

I've also seen swimming pool cakes where it is like a mud puddle and three little pigs are swimming in it!!! Same basic idea though.... I really like the strawberries oh oh or like rainbow fruits mmmmm

I am glad that the kids found some kids to play with. That is such a nice thing hopefully they are awesome kids <3

I need to bust some serious butt.... Dishes are almost finished and I need to work on laundry before I go to bed in an hour.

mmm rainbow fruits. <3 I almost want to bake a cake. They're having a bake off for Coast Guard day (Early August) I'm kinda thinking about entering. Categories for cakes, cookies and pies...and I think something else. But not bread. jerks.

Scott re-cleaned the kitchen for me today, which was nice since he's the one that made it a mess. And I got the bathroom done. The rest of the house is still meh...but I'm going to just go with it because I'm happy to see some progress. And that my toilet isn't disgusting anymore. It's the little victories!

The kids they were playing with are still staying in the guest house. There are 3 kids in the family, so there's a chance that they will be our downstairs neighbors...that house is about ready...so here's hoping!
