Hiya, well I am relatively new to mene and also relatively new to motherhood. I have one child, a four month old daughter called Ailsa. She was born on the 6th of June 2009 at fifty-three minutes past midnight and weighed in at 6lbs 2 ounces.
She is such a little cutie, she allready has loads of hair, blonde curls. She has really big blue eyes too.

Wow! Yay~~~ Moms~!

*huggles the screen*

Melody, you are a brave and kind person for doing that! I'd do it too but I'm pretty short and my pregnancy was......... very difficult and hard on me.
I wish you luck~

I have a daughter, she's 13months old. She has red hair just like me and her father~ yay red heads! <3 I love her soooooooo much... she's been kind of a pain in the butt lately though.
Her teeth are slow moving, and taking their sweet time in popping through her gums. So she has a reason she's a brat. I forgive her :3

Baby upi Your son is very cute. ^-^!

Hiya ShellyRoo. Whats your daughters name?
Ailsa is feeling pretty lousy just now, she has a cold just now so she is not at her best, poor lovey.
We were supposed to be visiting my mum and sister today, I was going to help my sister revise for her english exam she has in a few weeks but I think I'm going to have to call it off.

My daughter's name is Kaeli Mae (pronouced Kaylee May)

^-^

And yes, if your kiddlet isn't feeling well you best not travel very much. My experience with making babies go places when they feel like poo makes them feel worse.
But then again, my daughter loves her grandmother so much that she'd probably feel instantly better to see her. :3~

I hope Ailsa feels better soon~ ^-^!!

Ah, thats a cute name, very unique! I wish that I could have given Ailsa a more unique name but the names I liked Zack didn't and vice versa so we settled on Ailsa.
Yeah, I decided against going, my little sister came round here instead so I could still help her, I was sort of hoping she wouldn't so I could catch up on some house work and that but oh well.
Do you only have one child?

What would being short have to do with being a surrogate? xD And it's not really brave, it's just something I wanted to do. (:

Welcome to the parents thread both of you.

Thanks very much for the welcome. Being short effects surrogacy? I think that its a really nice thing to do, to be able to give a couple a child, it must be one of the best feeling in the world! I really admire people who do that.
I quite fancy being a surrogate for somebody though I don't think my boyfriend would like it, plus it would be a long while away from now anyway xD

Well I was pretty ill for the first few months of my pregnancy so he had the patience of a saint sticking by me, most others would run a mile but he stuck by me. I also got really grumpy too and had a bit of a hormonal moment sometimes.
So if I were to get pregnant again then I think we would both like it more if we actually got the child for us. We are planning more children, but not for a couple of years, I really want three children xD

No no, it doesn't have anything to do with it. Just for me it's hard on me. Being short and having a massive tummy just wasn't pleasant. And my parts are all... small. *looks sideways* It was just difficult on me is all.

Yes, Kaeli is my only child. And I had an IUD placed in about 2 months ago... so I am protected for the next 5 years. I'm not ready to be pregnant again....

lol, I get you, so you didn't find the beachball look atractive? I am rather small too and I looked pretty comical walking, I was waddling at about seven months.
I was thinking about getting one put in to, but I want another baby, we are waiting until Ailsa is two before we try again though, I don't think I could cope having two kids in diapers at the same time xD

Lol, better hope you don't have twins then. I was so tired of diapers I got the twins potty trained in less than a month before they were 2 and a half. My oldest got away with not being potty trained until she was over 3. Soooo tired of diapers. I never want to deal with them again (save for baby sitting, I don't actually mind changing diapers so long as it's not a constant thing).

My first pregnancy was really hard on me. I had morning sickness the whole way through, and I was extremely hormonal. (probably didn't help that I was already a hormonal teenager, so add onto that pregnancy hormones...yikes!) Scott lucked out, he went off to boot camp for 2 months so he missed a good portion of my really crazy hormones. xD Lucky duck. With the twins, I was more physically uncomfortable, but I didn't have hormonal issues, nor did I have morning sickness. *shrugs* Every pregnancy is different. Though for the life of me I can't remember any of my friends saying their first pregnancy was easy.

I'm hoping thats going to be like me then, a hard first and then an okish second. we were talking last night and decided that we would like three or four kids, with a two year age gap (at least) between each one.
Yeah, I don't think I could handle twins xD
Well Zack was like a saint to me, though he said that if I am ever like that again he is going to do a runner lol, isn't he funny xD

I guess? Scott never even mentioned running, and boy did I give him reason enough to when I was pregnant with our first daughter!

My second pregnancy was actually wonderful. I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Not only was I not sick the entire time, but I felt amazing, my skin was completely clear, I glowed. o.o It was perfect, up until month 6 anyway, when the weight of my belly made getting out of bed harder and my feet got sore...but then I got foot massages and life was good still. haha.

Don't worry Zackie was being sarcastic, he wouldn't really run lol. Mind you I wouldn't blame him, I gave him a lot of reason too xD
Ah, I wish I glowed sadly I just looked like a chubby lump lol

xD Next time youre pregnant, embrace it. Your body should be working with you on the pregnancy, now that it knows whats going on. (at least, thats how I assume it went with me)

Yeah, thats how I'm hoping it plays out for me. I was expcting to be the epitome of grace and pregnancy elegance, sadly in reality I was up chucking for most of the time and didn't stray to far from the bathroom xD

xD First pregnancy my doctors office was a good 30 minute drive away. Which included a bit of a windy mountain road...yeah...not the best place for a pregnant woman!

Ah, not good. My doctor was about a fifteen minute walk but five by car so I had my boyfreind drive me down, I got car sick real easy though so we had to stop roughly twice a journey on the early drives xD

I had frequent stops as well. Luckily I can tell when I'm about to throw up, so they had warning to get to the side of the street. xD

Blah... I have a biopsy today up at Yale. I don't want to go. But I get to spend time with my intended parents, so that's nice...but...biopsy? D: No fun.

Yeah, I had a few seconds warning too, Zack was pleased about that so he never had to shampoo the car. Though I feel that every up chuck and agonising car journey was completely worth it because now I have Ailsa, and I wouldn't change her for the world!
Thats how I tell myself that nine months of sickness was beneficial xD
Urgh, a biopsy. Well I hope that it goes well for you!

the last few months are the worst.... you feel heavy, bloated, the kid inside won't stop kicking your liver or your lungs....

I was in active labor over a week... with no progress... I was all set for inducing... and they wouldn't... the made me suffer and wait. My daughter wouldn't put her head in the right position so I was at 1cm for a week..... And the pain was so intense I drove everyone around me insane..... When I was screaming every hour my husband told me we need to go see the doctor, but I said no... because I was tired of being turned away... So we waited... Until my husband called my mom, and they both dragged me to the hospital... where I sat there glaring at the staff and they drugged me... because I shouldn't be in this much pain... yadda yadda.... but when they checked me I was 4cm, then less then 6 minutes later my water broke and then it was less then 25 minutes of pushing, and bam my daughter was all like "Haiiiii I'm herreeeeeeeeee"
I was the talk of the entire Maternity wing, because not only was that a "speedy" process, but..... my daughter was the only girl born for that entire week. Everyone else had boys.

I love my daughter more then anything, but gosh, I am putting off having another kid for awhile. :3~

Shooga~ 3-4 kids? Wow! That's a lot of little ones you are going to look after. It'll be like a mini army ^-^

My birth was allright, it was seventeen hours long, but I was pretty out of it with the epidural and gas and air so it was all good.
Yeah, thats what me and Zackie are wanting. Like I said though we want to wait two or three years (I am feeling really broody just now so perhaps two xD)

I know I'm late on the reply here, but Melody, good on you for being a surrogate!
Really, I think it's amazing of you.
It's something I'd love to do myself one day (if it's safe for me to do so).

Also, does anyone have any teething tips? Wendy spent months agonizing over her first two teeth, now they've finally broken through... and two weeks later she starts teething all over again! :gonk:
We've tried everything, teething rings, powders, gels, cold wash cloths... nothing seems to help much, except using me as a teething ring when I'm trying to feed her, and the teeth she has already are really sharp!
Any ideas how I can comfort the little cuddle-bug? Or at least save my poor boobs from the nasty little fangs?

Well Ailsa hasn't started teething yet though I am dreading when she does. I also wouldn't be much help in that situation as I have allready stopped breatsfeeding, I went to the bottle almost as soon as I got home from the hospital.
I suggest the only way to stop her usuing you as a teething ring would be to move onto a bottle, for ones which make the weening easier on the baby I think they have fancy ones that resemble the shape of a breast do they not?
