Luckily I'm a picky buyer. But if I have alot of moner I'd be more then happy to splurge if I wasn't saving for anything.

Ugh, I know how it feels. I'm absolutely horrible with saving money. Every time I say I'm going to save up, I usually have to tell whoever I'm with when I'm out not to let me buy anything, and then I'm found ten minutes later (or less...) begging them to let me buy something, no matter how pathetic I look. Dx

I have the worst habit of buying manga when I'm out. Since I work at a bookstore, I get my manga for 33% off the regular price... so I can buy four for 28 bucks, instead of four for 40+. Dx So I usually can't even get through my own workplace without buying something, because I know how much I can spend, and I keep great tabs on how much is with me and in my checking account. Hell, for the first few months I worked there, every paycheck you'd see me walking out the door with 12-14 manga books, just because I could get away with it. Then the rest of the money would be spent on other random crap, with JUST ENOUGH of the paycheck left to get me a couple meals on days I work and just enough gas to put me through until the next paycheck. Oh jeez, I was so horrible with it at first. It's my first paying job, and since I'm horrible with money to begin with, maybe a bookstore wasn't the best place for me to start working. ^^;;

From all the telling of friends and such not to let me buy things (especially lately) because I want to save up to move the fuck out of my parents' house, I've been getting slightly better with my cash. Like, right now I have nearly 200 bucks in my checking account/savings, and I only bought four manga when I got my last paycheck... and I haven't even gotten anything besides that! So I suppose I've been getting a little better, at least. It's better than nothing anyways. But I still have a long way to go before I can really save my money up like I want to. And it's not going to help any that sometime this summer, I'm going to go on a vacation with my boyfriend~ he's telling me to pick a place, so I'm thinking New York. xP But yeah... that's not going to help me at all. Dx I can just see myself pissing my money away on random stuff already. D:

An easy thing to do is get in the habit of asking yourself "do I need this" and if the answer is no then don't get it.

Now, what qualifies as a need, you might ask?
-If it's food and you're not going to get to eat for a very long while
-If it's an artical of cloathing like pants, shoes, socks, shirts, skirts, dress, etc, that you need because of an event or because your old pair is worn out.

Anything else like dolls, accessories or games I can already tell you you don't need.

And books are borderline. If it's something you can't borrow from a friend or check out from the library then go ahead and buy it ^_^

Yeah, I am really good at not buying things ever since I've started asking myself 'do i need this' So maybe give it a try.
At first, my friend Krystal would be really annoyed with me buying everything in sight, so when we'd go places and I'd be like "HOMG SO CUTE!!" and pick it up to go purchase it, she'd stand there, take it from my hand, and ask me "Do you really want this?", and I'd say "of course!" and buy it anyways. But as time went on, she'd go two, three, four times asking me "do you really want this?" and I'd say "well, yeah I do!", and she'd work me down to "you're right, I don't need this do I?". Now I find that even when she's not with me, I'm asking myself the question, and I end up buying less and less when I'm out. Sometimes I'll go for an entire trip to the mall and back, without getting anything at all! It's amazing what one question repeated over and over can do, and I'm finding that I'm actually saving a little bit of money these days, rather than spending it all on everything in sight. I still have certain things that I want to buy once a month (like a manga here and there for series that I'm in the middle of, waiting for new volumes to come out, or Jrock magazines - I buy an issue of Cure and of Shoxx each month, I never want to skip it unless it's absolutely necessary for my survival. xD ), but for the most part, my spending has gone way, way, way down.
