I tried pastels once and failed horribly.

I dont have enough pastel colors to pull it off. I did once with an avi, and I actually rather liked it. It was for a possible avi choice for the first round of PM.

I think its nice when others pull it off, but I think that they just all look the same, eventually. You know? Pastels just dont seem unique or all the interesting to me. I see a pastel avi and its like "eh, whatever," since its usually just the same items over and over. But I like it when people make one that stands out and looks good.
