My boyfriend has absolutely no problem whatsoever talking about it or hearing me talk about it. He seems to know a little bit but he's always interested to learn more. I suppose it's better than "shush I don't wanna hear about it >|" like other guys I've known have been, but sometimes it freaks me out a little bit that he actually wants to hear/learn about it. So I can be completely open with him whenever I like about pretty much everything. It's pretty nice.

My dad, however, doesn't want to hear it, and never did before my mum had menopause either. xD She told me he's never been very good with girly subjects like that. So I suppose it's just different for every guy.

My boyfriend really has no problem.

Just minor disappointment when I say I can't go swimming.

Every guy I've ever said the "p-word" around has flipped out. It's hilarious. My poor little brother... He's 16, and he gets so embarrassed whenever we go to the store to buy 'supplies'. He won't even walk by us. Poor dear. XP

I'm still hate mentioning it around my father but whenever I feel bad (even if it's a headache) he's like "Is it..you know..your time of month?" He always draws it out and he always seems to ask that, he hasn't realized I don't get cramps yet. .___.

@Mangacatgirl: I tend to do that too. >__> And I always make sure the person at the checkout is female.

I thought it was funny as HELL, when I once had a big PMS fit, and my dad walked in. He was like, "What the HELL ARE YOU *^&*(%#$ DOING!?"

So I turned on him, and was like, "I feel like a little moster is clawing its way out from my uterus, and NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE!
He just grumbled and walked out of the room. I think he was even a little pale xD

Hahaha.

My dad's like that. ;p

Well actually, i'm still trying to decide whether he actually IS like that or if it's me thinking he's like that because i'm like that.

Uhm....YEH. I make sense...

You should feel glad that your dad is like that, it really spares awkward conversations. Like, for example, my dad is a doctor, and he tells me that it's ok for me to talk about stuff like that with him...but it's so weird. I mean, I don't even like talking to my mom about it, so why would I talk to my dad..

Haha guys are dorks at times. I never even talked to my dad about that stuff so I wouldn't know how he'd react. Though I do remember in middle school they'd talk about that stuff in Health and everyone would laugh like crazy. Possibly it's not just guys who get that way.

I'm perfectly comfortable talking about my period. It happens, so why be ashamed?

But my stepdad is hilarious about it. He walked in my mom and myself talking about my cramps, and started going "lalala" as he walked out.

My grandpa's fine about it, since he only had sisters, only had one son, etc. Hell, he even told me not to be embarrassed to talk about it to him x.x My dad's OK with it, since he was a doctor. But he'd rather it not come up too much in conversation.

But all of my male friends get all "-blush- onto a new topic..." about it.

My dad, I will talk about privae parts, periods, and sexual things; and he will just act so funny. He sounds just like your dad, he will kinda grumble bush or try and cover his face. It's like it is embaressing for him to hear me talk like that. He is turning 47 so I guess it is like an older man kind of thing.

As for other guys I almost find it super annoying. I talk about periods to my friends that are girls, usualy it would go like this.

Friend: Ugh..
Me: What's wrong?
Friend: I'm having cramps.
Me: Damn that sucks, I'm sorry. Stupid eve and her sinning, look what she's done to my poor "freind."
Friend: I don't have anything on my butt right?
Me: *looks* nope you're all good. How long have you had it?
Friend: 3days. it drives me nuts.
Me: well at least it doesnt last a week like my sisters, that would be bad.
Friend: Gah I have to go to the bath room.
Me: here use this as a pass.

Yeah I am a boy, so I can only symathize so much y know. I mean I don't exactly know what it feels like.

anyway everytime there is a guy around and I talk about it, they are all ewww gross don't talk about it. I mean come on it's a normal thing that shouldnt be so shamed upon. I mean it dosnt bother me to talk about it and I am a guy.

I dunno I just think most teenage guys are idiots.

Me and my dad don't really talk about stuff like that, so I don't really know what his reaction would be.
But me and my friends always like talking about our periods in front of guys. They always get so disgusted.
Especially when I told my one friend I'd shove a tampon up his nose if he ever got a nose bleed when I was around. xD

My fiancee doesn't care if I talk about that kind of stuff. What's weird is that he keeps track of when I'm going to be on my period better than I do. O.o

  • I wonder what that certain age is. My ex never liked to hear it either. I think for the (much) younger set, it's kind of a novelty, but after a while, it just gets old, and becomes kinda gross.

    Which it is. xP

Heh, both my closest guy friends have the biggest mind-in-the-gutter, toilet-humor brains: they love trying to gross us girls out. However, mention even the word 'tampon' to them and they can't handle it. It's really funny watching them react - they get so uncomfortable hehe. Lol one of them is so uncomfortable with periods that one time he was at a beach with a girl friend, swimming in the ocean and as a joke she said 'i have my period' and he ran out of the water screaming!

Though once we actually sat down with one of them and it came up in conversation...it really was interesting to see how much he didn't know and how curious he actually was - just about basic things we go through every month.

o?!

All my guy friends are rly open about stuff, although that might've rubbed off from me...

But aye, I don't see why people get so uptight about it to be honest, we've more or less discussed every single aspect of it by now, most interesting one was when we tried to figure out why your pubes were coloured that way (found out the reason why after a while. And it's scientifically true also 8) )

I think the most awkward one, which wasn't awkward at all was like.

Boy- man I hope my parents go to sleep soon
Me-Whyyumz?
Boy - because I need to wank and I can;t do it when they're awake. I get distracted when I hear a noise
Me- ...HAHAHA OHDEAR
Boy - And i'm going away for the weekend so I can;t do it then
Me - Waiit... You're being serious?
Boy - Yes.

My dad hates it when I mention anything related to periods. He gets all uncomfortable. I had to ask him to drive me to the store for them once (My parents are divorced, and I was stuck at his house)... he called them sanitary napkins, and refused to leave the front of the store while I went and looked for tampons.

My boyfriend is completely fine with it, though. He had 5 older sisters, so he just laughs and offers to by me painkillers.

lol my borthers hate it when i talk about my period with my sister, or even pregnancy or sex. they get annoyed really easily though. its stupid. but anyway... i would love asking to go to the bathroom in high school when i had a male teacher, because they would say no and id be like but im on my period! and i would automatically get a pass to the bathroom. haha. men are silly.
i have however made sure that all of the men that are close to me know about periods and specially mine. because i dont want to deal with shit from them around that time of the month. im sick of men being an ass when the girl is on her period. its not fair. specially when shes one of the hormonal types. XD

  • I never honestly spoke about periods around my father nor with him. I was that girl who hid the fact she had her period for three years from him. I guess I felt embarrassed. Now that he knows whenever I have to say something to my mother about it I make sure we're away from him. I guess I hate how he reacts to everyone. Instead of being all embarrassed or anything he acts like a childish boy and jokes about it.

Most males don't like to speak ot periods. I always say something to my boyfriend or my two closest friends and they laugh saying "TME" to me. One day they'll be married so they need to get over it now. Ya know? Especially since my two friends are twenty-one and my boyfriend is eighteen.

My dad is a clean freak... so when he finally found out I had started, the first thing he said was, "Well, you need to shower and change your pad regularly so it doesn't smell, etcetc.."
Ohmahflgulsheiorulgkdgawd.. xDD I just blushed and muttered, 'kthnxIalreadydothat'.
This from the man who told us that women have balls, they're just on the inside. XD He isn't around a lot, so I guess he feels he has to put in his two-cents about puberty and 'The Facts of Life' when he is. But its so freakin' awkward. xD

My step-dad and uncle, though, its amazing.. They just get this glazed-over look about their faces and they tune it AAALL out... until you say something they can't ignore. XD Then they shake their heads and start with the 'Lalala's, and the 'I don't wanna hear this'. Sometimes we continue to talk about it, and they just walk away. xDD Its so funny. I don't have any brothers, so its just my step dad and three women, and one four year-old who acts like she's twenty-two. xD That poor man.
When we're actually suffering, though, he's so supportive. Albeit, he won't buy us pads, but he'll drive us to the store. xD And he'll give us plenty of space. Really, that's all it takes to get out of a chore. ;D

If I ever want to piss my dad off and gross him out all I have to do is lean over, grab my stomach and yell "AH MY UTERUS!" and he'll leave cursing at me xD
