And no, I don't mean friends that are just odd and do weird things to be funny or silly or whatever.
So today something really strange happened during class. I sit with two of my friends, and during break I got up from my desk and went to go pet the bunny that we have. I left my purse on my desk, not thinking anything bad would come of it. But when I got back, my friend who sits next to me said that she wrote down my credit card number and quickly flashed a paper at me with numbers on it. I wasn't sure if she was kidding or not or if she just put random numbers on there to screw with me -- but she actually wrote down my credit card number. She joked that she was going to go pay her bills with it and I said something like "Good luck, I hardly have any money in my account."
But she wouldn't give me the paper, and I was starting to get irritated. Finally she gave it to me and made a big huff about it like I couldn't take a joke. Not only had she written down the entire number, but she also wrote the 3 digit security code that's on the back. Why would she do that? I think what irritates me the most is that she expected me to just laugh about it and be cool with her doing that. She had to go into my purse to get it anyway, which bothers me too. Granted, I have one of those little mini-cards on my keychain, and my keys were probably sitting right on top of everything else in my purse so it's not like she dug around in it, but... it's still very uncool.
I just don't understand why someone would do that, let alone think that it'd be okay to do. I really doubt she would have actually used it, it's just the whole principle of the matter.
Am I overreacting, or do you think my feelings are justified?
Have any of your friends/family done something like this to you before? What happened with it?
I almost feel like I can't trust her now. That's probably a little bit extreme, but I'm sure I'll get over it before too long.

I once left my bank card at my friend's house - I can just use it to get money out of my 'young savers' account. She brought it in on Monday, and I said, way too seriously, "Did you take any money out?"
And obviously she was like "Why would I do that?"
And I felt guilty.
:(
It was ages and ages ago, but I still feel guilty. ><

Your feelings are definitely justified; don't worry about that.
I hate how people can be like that - do something extremely serious and then think it'll just end up being the most hilarious thing of the season.
But, meh. :s What'll you do, eh? >_>;
I'd never trust her again, if I were you.

I mean, I know she was joking about going off to spend money from my account, but it was just like, soooo not the right joke to play on someone. She got irritated with me for being annoyed by it, which really makes no sense. When she finally did give me the paper I ripped it up into little itty bitty tiny pieces and threw it away. While she may not have had any bad intentions with it, if the paper had gotten into the wrong hands there could have been big trouble. ;\
Maybe I'm just paranoid...

She might've just been joking around, but it's a very immature joke. It could be that she's just ignorant, or she might be concious of it, but I'm pretty sure she lacks respect for your privacy and for your property. She might think that just because she's your friend, she's allowed to go through your stuff without asking.
Anyways, it was a terrible joke though. If she had kept the paper and somehow lost it, and then if anyone picked that paper up...Well I guess it's not such a big deal in high school, but there's a reason why there are paper shredders :/

Gah. I can't stand it when people invade my privacy. Sometimes people accuse me of "not being able to take a joke" but I don't care. It's something I tend to take very seriously, especially seeing as I seem to have problems with trust. :/

Oh, we're not in high school, it's a college course and everyone is at least 20 years old, most of them older. The classroom is located at the animal shelter since we're all studying to become veterinary technicians and this way we have animals that we can work on. And I really, REALLY don't trust the shelter people, or the people in the night class, but that's another story. So if that paper had gotten lost it could have caused a lot of issues.

And now that you mention it, this wasn't the first time that she'd gone in my purse when I left it open. A few weeks ago we were doing our dental class and were having a lab. I left my purse on a table with everyone else's stuff and was shooting my dental X-rays. Eventually I came back over and saw that the two of them were looking through the pictures on my phone. I didn't have anything naughty on there, just a few pictures of my cat when I first got her and a couple of my bunny when I first got him. I guess I just need to be more careful with my purse in the future. ;\

Well hey, if she is really your friend, and you want to stay good friends with her; then this is what I suggest.
You feel a bit violated right? Your not going to be able to have a healthy relationship with a person if you don't let the other person in on how you feel. I would sit her down and talk to her about it. Let her know that you understand she said it was a joke, but also let her understand that you took the whole thing very personally. Try to explain to her why it made you feel that way; and get her to explain why she thought it would be a good idea to make a joke about it.
It's better that you two understand why you do the certain things you do. Especialy if she actually was planning on doing somthing wrong. If you want to salvage the friendship you and her should probably sit down and have a nice cup of tea<3 and have a little conversation.

Your friend sounds like a person that can't really be trusted. I hate it when my parents go through my stuff, and their excuse is that I live under their roof, and everything I own is their's anyways. Once my cousin took out my journal from a pretty well hidden place -- and my parents just laughed out it..
Also, something like that happened to me today too, though it wasn't that extreme. I was in science class, and went to the front of the room to get a worksheet. When I returned to my table, I found this girl dumping out of papers out of my folder. She wasn't even a friend, and we barely talk to each other. When I asked her what she heck she was doing, she said that she needed paper...
I was just so irritated at her. I mean, first of all she could've just asked. Second, she sits far away from me. Third of all, she was invading my personal belongings, and messing everything up. It was just so rude, and she didn't even apologize. In the end, she still took the paper..

Wow, that is pretty rude of her. If she wanted a paper, why didn't she just ask someone that was close to her? Or one of her friends or something. o__o; I hate it when people just take things without permission. ;\

Wow, that was really immature and I agree that it's definitely not viewed as a joke. I wouldn't like it if someone did that to me either, because honestly something like that just isn't justified. Joke or not, writing down a credit card number and flashing it around in plain view of everyone else in the class is just completely irresponsible. I'd suggest you sit down with her and have a talk about how you value your privacy.
There are only two people of whom I'll let go through my purse if they need something from it, my best friend and my boyfriend. I can trust them around everything of mine, and trust them to not do anything stupid. They're both plenty mature and my boyfriend wouldn't even giggle or eww at the pads I keep in one of the pockets of my purse, so I feel I can trust him around it all the more. Everyone else can just stay the fuck away, honestly. I have trust issues and if something like that were to happen to me, it would just make things worse. I'd probably go off at whoever were to do that. Dx

I don't really have a problem with someone looking in my purse -- as long as they're not doing it behind my back. There have been plenty of times when I'm like at home or something and I'll ask a friend (or my fiance) to hand me something out of my purse because they're right next to it and I'm not. I don't really have anything to hide, but it makes me feel violated when someone goes in my purse for something (even if it's only on the very top) and starts messing with my stuff. D:

That just bugs me, could make me go insane. xD
My cousin does that all the time with my belongings, especially with my computer. Not only does he look through my stuff, but he tries to download unneeded things and crap to it. All the time when he's going through my stuff or something and I ask what he's doing he always says "Trust me" But honestly, if he's going to change something or mess something up I'd atleast like to know what he's doing. Also when he goes through my stuff he normally leaves with one big mess. It annoys me with a burning passion, and it's why I lock myself in my room when he comes over.
So, I understand how you feel a bit. Just go and talk to her. And bring your purse with you next time mabye? xD

Why would some one do that? That's so bloody rude. >.o And rather scary. Identity theft and such.
My friends have been grating on my nerves lately. There was some big secret about my Chemistry class, and like the fabulous buds they are, they refused to tell me.
So, on top of that, I was spazzing because I though I had to learn half a chapter for a test that was the next day in chem. Turns out, the secret was that the test was moved, and I was like, the last person to find out.
It's especially bad because the stress from that made me spazz so much I started crying while attempting to study. And they were confused as to why I refused to talk about Chemistry today. : /

Yeah, it REALLY annoys me when people get on my computer and start snooping through my files. I'm not like, hiding porn on it or anything like that, but I've had people go through random cute little images that I've saved and made fun of me for it. :x

Yeah, part of what really bugged me about it is how big of an issue identity theft and credit card fraud is getting these days. It's not that I think she was going to actually go out and use my information, but if someone else had gotten a hold of it it could have been really bad.
A few months ago someone managed to get a hold of my fiance's credit card number. We're not really sure how because he really only uses it for gas, or occasionally food if we're really low on money, but he hadn't done that in a while. There was one night when he was trying to get gas and his card wasn't working at the pump so he had to take it inside and get the lady to do it from there. She made him leave the card in there and come back for it when he was done pumping gas. The only thing I can think of is that she copied down his number while he was out pumping the gas. Other than that there wasn't really any time where someone could have gotten a hold of the number, and he didn't like, lose the card or anything.
They charged like $29 to it at Bed Bath and Beyond and the bank picked it up as suspicious activity right away, which we're thankful for. They gave him a new card with a different number and we haven't had any issues since, but that has made me a bit paranoid. .__.;

When my cousin comes over he immediately heads to my computer. He stays in the chair and won't get off and he turns on the computer and makes it so I can't turn it off. He always goes and brags about stuff and tries to show me things he's shown my a million times before but needs to brag. Especially when my friends are over too. When my friends are over he always says "wait, let me check my myspace!" just so he can show it off. If I'm on the computer and he says it I let him sometimes, but he never really goes on his myspace, just shows off his page to everyone and then all the people on his list. xD
He opens up my photoshop and just clicks on one of my random files to edit it and I don't appreciate him going through my property one bit~
This is still on topic though, right? >>

It's justified.
Your purse was your personal property.
She had no right to go through it, even if she was your friend.
And all those numbers?
If I was in your position, I might've clobbered her. I mean, c'mon, all those numbers?! You'd think she really would've gone and used your account.
