That dress is gorgeous. Way better than the traditional wedding dress. x3

Ah that dress is really pretty! I bet you'll look gorgeous.

My latest lolita purchase was a blouse from In The Starlight.

Ah, I hope this thread isn't dead.

Anyways, Neko, that dress is adorable.
Once I get some moneys I'm going to finally get myself a decent blouse and petti from ITS. ^^

I'm waiting to see what ITS looks like once it reopens with the new format. I tried on my blouse tonight and it fits like a dream. <3

Yep, I think it'll be neat to see what new things they come up with. Up till now I've just been using a petti I got off eBay and random off-brand blouses, so I'm glad to hear that you like the ITS blouses. :3

I don't have a real petti. I had bought one of those Naoto skirts that's really puffy because I love the plaid.. and I just use that. =S

Ooh, cute. I love h.Naoto but I'll probably never buy it because, like all brand, it's so expensive. That's also a good idea because then the skirt can multi-task as either a skirt or a petti.
I would make a petti for myself, but I'm way too lazy and I've heard that sewing tulle is incredibly tedious.

I got it off Yahoo!Japan so it was a little cheaper than brand new. Thank god for that. xD

I wouldn't even know how to go about starting to make a petti myself... so I haven't tried.

I've been thinking about making my own petti but the town I live in doesn't have the fabric for that... and since it's kinda expensive to get out of town and hard without my own car I'm just going to end up buying one I think.

That's a shame Neko. Luckily you can find them for not-too-expensive online!

What are some stores that you would recommend to a new lolita?

What's your price range Lilith?
I don't know if you're based in the US, but there are a couple good US based stores that sell some good basics.
In The Starlight is currently closed, but when it opens, they have really good quality stuff and the person who runs it is awesome.
You could also try Candy Violet, although their stuff tends to sell out.

You wanna stay away from ebay stores that claim to make replicas of brand items. Most of the time you're going to get a poorly-made items with shoddy materials.

EGL Comm Sales is the LiveJournal community where the members of the main community will sell things for often cheaper than what you can buy them new. I like going there and browsing the bargains.

Otherwise I think a lot depends on what style you prefer.
Metamorphose and Baby the Stars Shine Bright are the 2 more popular brands that ship international. You can also find secondary sales of brand items at Marui-One.

>.> I hope that helped a little!

Thanks for the help fiarra.
I don't really have a price range as long as it is not super expensive and I am in the US.
I have been looking at In The Starlight but was not sure if they were good.
I had heard of the LiveJournal community but sadly I am bigger than the average person so everytime I look in there the sizes are always to small.
I prefer the gothic, elegant, punk, or wa style. I'm not huge on the cute style which is what most shops are selling.

In The Starlight is very good for accommodating to all sizes. Although they closed shop for now, I think when they re-open, the sizing will be fairly customizable. The blouse I ordered from them was excellent.

Sometimes the egl sales have more free size items, but it's a matter of checking all the sales. You mostly want to be looking for skirts with elastic, or dresses with shirring at the top. You can also find some good people running commission services on the community who can make things to size and style.

In terms of brand... I know Baby and Metamorphose make items that are larger. Innocent World make shirred dresses (mine is from there), but they're more classic style.

You might consider checking out fanplusfriend.com. They run an ebay shop in addition to their site, but unlike a lot of ebay stores, they actually use pictures of their own products to advertise.

I'll have to check out fanplusfriend.com

I was planning on buying from In The Starlight but when I went on, like you have said, they had closed. They seem to be very nice. And it is great to hear that their products are liked.

Thanks for all the help.
