i think recolouring would be nice.(a silver crown ftw!)
also, takeing the stuff from frozen acounts and selling it sounds like a good idea too. i dont really like the idea of rereleaseing though, because it wouldnt be very nice to the people who bought their crowns/whatever for a lot of money, and then they would see other people get it for really cheap! they would be sad. XD

I personally believe items shouldn't be re-released. It completely removes the sentimental value and honor of having an old item.

I'm always in favor of re-releasing items, but only in a different color. That way the true "first edition" items are still recognizable, but people who want to wear a crown or a cloak can still get the opportunity, and they have a cheaper option, which slows DI inflation versus gold deflation. <3

I agree with recolors, or with slightly altered pixels!
For instance, the Cloak of Nature could be re-released in gold and golden brown, with little bees flying around it, and could be the Cloak of Honey XD Or something similar!
The cloaks are the items so far I think, personally, with the most re-releaseability X3. Just think how many awesome cloak variations there could be!
A lacy cloak! A Red Riding Hood cloak! A witch cloak! All with the same pixle base, just altered colors and embellishments!

Also having newer versions of items is nice. Like you said, recolored or a slightly different style.
If they did re-release them. It would mess with the economy pretty badly and it probably wouldn't be very fair to the users that had to pay a bunch of the item just for it be released a month later.

Yea. I have one of each donation items up until now, and it would depress me if they re-released them.
Also, it would mean that the items you might of quested hard for, deflate in price, and then all the money you saved for to get the donation item, is lost.
And releasing a newer version would be nice.
Like a few months from now, a scepter of nature and a scepter of healing, and a cloak of chaos, and a cloak of order.
I really want those cloaks. 8)

having more of them available then there are currently would deflate the value of them. having them at a set price would be like having them as a store item. people would be like i can buy it here for this much, so im going to offer x seller in the exchange less. Kinda like the marketplace on gaia. people will offer lower to the actual sellers who are selling items that did not come from banned accounts rather than pay for the items that were taken from banned accounts unless no other sellers are found.

I'm not sure why people would be so upset if the items came from banned accounts.
Would you rather not have them at all then?

I think thats a great idea. We need more of those rare sets. No one should be trying to profit millions on a set in the future. It's only pixels, how stupid to get so greedy.

Right now, re-releasing items would just screw with the economy and the way everything is going.
I'd say wait a while before items get re-released and not make it take the place of the main CI's and maybe you know, do it for like a week in a month.

I think it would be great to see some of the previous holidays' event items given out as prizes in future holidays' contests. For example, Menewsha hosts a contest for Valentine's Day 2008, and the winner gets a set of Valentine's Day 2007 items, and maybe runners-up each get one item. One of the advantages of being the people who run a site is that they have the opportunity to give out prizes no one else can give out.
Re-releasing items in such limited quantities such as an occasional contest prize or reselling items from banned accounts is not going to ruin the economy. The economy isn't exactly a Jaguar that's going to run off the road if you put in regular unleaded gas one time instead of super plus unleaded. There simply won't be that many banned accounts holding large stores of rare items. What's already in circulation is already in circulation, so it's not changing the number of items that were originally in existence.
In fact, the only thing it would do is contribute slightly towards slowing the deflation of money -- since this is essentially taking money out of the economy without putting anything new into it. Slowing the deflation of money is as useful as slowing the inflation of items, which is economically positive.
So I say go for it. <3

Well everything you described in the first post hapenned in Magivolve, and it caused nothing but trouble. </3
After a while the Admin there even had a plan to give everyone 2 Old donation items, when the record of people being online would be broken or something. In the end he backed out because alot of members got angry, me being one of them. I worked very hard there to get the items I had, I like 7mil in my inventory, and then something like that happens. o.o;

I don't think they should re-release the exact same items, but a different version of them. Like the example about the cloak of order, staff of nature and silver crown. But they should wait awhile first.
I'm not sure how I feel about giving out old items as prizes for things...
I really like the idea of selling the items from banned accounts. That way there are more of them available. They should sell them in the Exchange for the regular price at the time.

While I like this idea of re-coloring (crown of evil, anyone? XD) I'm not so fond of re-releases so early in Menewsha. Let us concentrate on getting more and diverse clothing options first.

Personally, I'd much like spoofs of the older items much more than re-releasing and whatnot. Re-releasing itself causes way too much controversy. The opinions on spoofing isn't that bad. The spoofed item may deflate a little, but not as much as if it would if re-released. The owners of the spoofed items may feel cheated, but I don't think they should as they still have the "better" item. It certainly wouldn't be fair to any of the users who worked hard to get the items in the past if they were re-released in the future, but a different item, though not completely different item, would be...different.
