Hi all!
I am no artist. I cannot draw decent stick people but I am trying to learn how to use Photoshop and manipulate images and stuff. I decided to try my hand at making a vexel. This one is not done as there are no highlights (and there is another person in the photo that still needs to be done) but I would like your input on how I am doing so far. I am open to suggestions and learning new tricks so please feel free to tell me if I can do something better or different. I'd really appreciate it.

Well it's not done so it's hard to say. I mean it could use some shadow and high lights in the hair which you already know, and the skin seems like it might need some more shadow layers...
So far though it looks like it's coming along really well ^.^
The glasses do look a bit shaky, but it's not too bad...

I think in this case, in order to properly critique your piece we need to know your current method, so we can make suggestions on how to change your procedure to get a better result.
Can I guess that the hair and eyebrows are the parts that haven't been worked on? In that case, it looks to me like what you're doing is blocking in colors, probably with the pen tool, and then using the blur tool to blend them in. Is this assumption correct?

Well, the first one I had started out as a vexel and ended up hating how the skin looked so I blurred it all together and I still hate it. I think I am going to revisit that picture later.
I've started another one with a blue color scheme. I think it is too bright but there are no gradients or anything like that (I haven't figured out how to make that work). I'm not sure if I like the eye or not and the lips remind me of latex but it is a work in progress and at least much better than the first, lol :)
Any suggestions?

I think you did a great job. I love the eye, the lips, and the hair.
I think it's my computer but both pictures don't look as if they've been blended or blurred, I see definite lines in the different shades of color.
Still, if I were to attempt something like this myself, I would totally flub it up, lol. I love what you've done with both pictures, but especially the blue one :)
