Last night I just got raped by a boss about three times before I gave up. I got angry. I punched my pillow. I cried out, "DEAR GOD PLEASE DIE BEFORE I DO!" before I finally resigned myself to watching some late night TV.
Today, I will try again! YOU WILL NOT BEAT ME YOU SILLY BOSS!
So everyone, what do you do when you get to a hard boss and can't seem to pass it?

Pretty much the same thing you did. xD Only, I don't punch my pillows... I just take a brake from it, and try to beat the boss later. It's usaly after I go and grab myself a snack, or the next day... >_>

The pillow smack-down was a good idea. XD
I usually look up a guide on the internet.
Or I go and train. ^^

I tend to bash my controllers on the floor, which is not exactly the brightest thing to do. But hey, rage > logic.
Once I'm done with the smashy-smashy I tend to look up strategies on the internet or level-grind for awhile until I can wipe the floor with whatever made me angry.

I know when to just walk away. No temper tantrums, no big rage against the system, just take a break. It makes everything so much easier. Go back the next day, and I usually end p beating the boss / solving the problem on the first try. Weird how those things work.

It varies, however, I never, ever let up. xD
On Resi-Evil 4, the button-mash action commands are an absolute bitch for me.
Basically for the PS2 Version (I own both versions, I love PS2 because I have my Mobster outfit. x3) you have to hit (x) to escape from a rolling boulder, but you have to repetitively tap (x) or you'll slow down and die. Then, generally at the very end of the run, you have to hit [L]+[R] or (x) ([]) to avoid being crushed.
The hardest and final boulder run in the game isn't in fact a boulder at all. It's a giant freaking statue that you have to outrun, it knocks down giant pillars which you have to dodge (all while still running with (x) ) and then you have to bust through a door (If you're smart you bust the padlock off of it by sniping before-hand) and then run across a massive bridge with the statue-robot thingy still on your tail. The bridge can't support the robot's weight, and it collapses, and the robot on top of you, so you have literally less than one second to hit [L]+[R] so that you can jump across the chasm, or what's left of the length of the bridge, then button mash (x) so you can climb up on the remaining side.
What's worse is that in Professional mode, it's even quicker to smash you and you have less than a 4th of a second to hit [L]+[R] when the robo-statue is falling on the bridge. >_<;
Safe to say, I died 7 times on it, and by dumb luck, I hit the [L]+[R] on the other side of the bridge, just before the statue fell on me.
The other furiously difficult boss is known as IT, or U3, officially. U3 is a hideous mutant creature that stalks you through three abandoned rail-cars that are suspended over a chasm. Now, you can basically dodge all of it's attacks by hitting the proper buttons, [L]+[R] or (x) ([]), however, if you are unfortunate enough to be caught by it on professional mode, your life will drain within three seconds if you don't struggle away fast enough, ((Controlled by you moving the L-Stick back and forth quickly)) which will lead to a horribly gruesome death scene if you fail. -.-;
I lost there three times, mainly because you can't kill U3 during the first part.
Basically, I never give up though. xD
On REALLY messed up GameCube games, I've been known to throw down the controller, generally on Super Smash Bros Melee. xD

If I tried multiple times, and never won/beaten the Boss. I'll just be like, "GAH! HE'S CHEATING! D:" Or throw some lame excuse of my failure, when I'm bored another day, I just go "hey, maybe I can pwn him this time. 8D" and it rarely happens, but it does. xD

I get rly frustrated in my head (if that makes sense lol) and yell abuse at it.
Then I go on Miranda and bitch about it.
Or any other forum site i go on.
And just rant and rant and raaaaant about it basicly.
Then I might go back to it the other day.
Sometimes I STILL can;t get past it and get fed up and restart it on another account or go look up www.gamefaq.com....

I get ticked off and rant at the TV and then try to go onto gamefaqs and read about 5 different strategies and I try them all. And if I still can't beat the dang thing, I'll walk away and walk back about a week later, level up for several days, and then try again.

I yell at my stuffed cat xD Then I usually look at a guide. Or, if there is no guide, I try to figure which strategy of mine worked the best and try to tweak it from there.

I curse out the TV. I love doing that.
Then, if it's an RPG, I go hunting to level up and/or get better gear.
Otherwise, I try a new crack tactic... which often fails. Then I spit curses and try again.

I get so mad when i get beaten by a boss, and i get beaten easily because i suck pretty badly at computer games :oops:
I'll try to beat it until i'm about ready to tear my hair out, then i'll go looking for cheats :roll:
The level skip cheat on Tomb Raider is my best friend..sometimes i will be good and carry on kicking butt on that level until my skills are high enough, but that can be extremely tedious!
I know it's not exactly on the same level as the games you people are talking about, but Neoquest II is the bane of my life, i've yet to complete that because it's so damn tedious, but it's the same principle, train, train, train so you can hammer the boss level :x

I have an awful temper... So I usually end up screaming at the character I'm playing at, or at the boss... ^-^;
But eventually, I try to see if there's something I missed, there usually is, and I beat it sooner or later, except for Minish cap, but that may be because i haven't even seen the game in months much less played it.

You know, it's funny how sometimes if you do walk away for a while, when you come back to the game and try that part again, you beat it first try, easily! That happened with Xenosaga II for me (which I'm playing right now). I don't know if I was tired or what, but this boss kept kicking my butt and I got frustrated and went like 3 or 4 weeks without touching the game. I finally sat down yesterday to try again and she was so incredibly easy, I beat her right off with absolutely no special strategy or anything! And I've noticed that's happened to me in the past too. So I guess when I find myself playing for longer stretches of time, I cause myself to get stuck, whereas if I pick it up after a long break, things seem much easier.

Yeah, I found that just keeping at it wore me down and I just got stressed out. Just take a breather, and a day off, and it's easier from there. ^^ <3
But ugh, Xenosaga II doesn't compare to the first or third. D:

Most of the games I play don't even have bosses. xD I play low-key games.
But the ones that do, they frustrate me so. When I was playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (again xD) the other day, I breezed through the Hero story and then I got to the final Shadow fight. I'd get him down to his last legs, and then the camera wound rotate all funny and I would fall off. I'd fight him for another ten minutes (that fight can go on for insane amounts of time, because you can't die as long as you have at least one ring.), and the same thing would happen. Eventually, I went to play with my chao, but not all games have that luxury. (The little things can melt stress away, though. They're so cute! But I took too much of my stress out on one of them and now he tries to beat me up at times. It's actually pretty funny, 'cause Sonic just stands there tapping his foot and looking at his Bounce Bracelet like it's a watch. I didn't mean to piss off the little guy so much, but I was always so enraged. All my other chao are really happy, though.) If I can't, I just replay some easier stages until I regain my confidence.

when I get mortally destroyed by a boss there's usually a lot of swearing, and I get more and more irritated the longer I attempt to beat said boss and in the end throw the game controler across the room and storm off. After eating a cookie or surfing the internet I usually go back and do it all agian.

I love when people get worked up over games [when you're not the one doing it], it's so fun to watch!
Usually I yell at the game while playing it, so it's more intense when I'm frustrated D:
I take a break, come back, yell, and repeat until I beat it C:

I am well known amongst my friends for giving up ^^: When I get to a particularly hard part, I tend to rest the game for a while Dx I'm so bad with that. I do it all the time with Final Fantasy games... then, when I feel like playing again, I resort to using walkthroughs on the internet D: I am probably the worst of all gamers...
