The problem is that there will always be really rare items.

Like the Halo on gaia. People who joined in the late of 03 couldn't even get one, unless they were good exchangers.

But it is a shame that they inflated so fast. Even though they were only released 4 months ago.

4 months ago today.

You hit the nail on the head there.
This is also the same reason the crowns have risen in price so quickly, since they were released in March when Menewsha was still quite young and not yet wildly discovered.

I think they are great items but I don't think they should have had any events until there were at least 1,000 members or more because of this very reason. There were so few made and such a rush of members it caused them to go up in "value" way sooner then they should have.

I joined in April and now have one full set so I don't think it's impossible but just about impossible for people who don't do art or can't afford at least more then one CI set a month with real money.

In a community where people don't even have 100k to their name it's crazy to believe that one of the items is already valued so high. When I first got commissioned for the V-day Pin it was worth 9K! Then by the time like 2-3 weeks finished it was worth 90K. That's insane!

What is your stance on these items?
I love them... so much because they are just that pretty. Not just for it's value. I love them for how they look and how beautiful it is as a set. I wish that there were more of them though... and somehow they didnt inflate as fast so I have at least ONE chance of getting ONE item.

Do you think perhaps they induce so much greed? Well, they are like 03 donation items on gaia. The ones everyone want, the ones that cost the most. (Except on gaia, it took them at least a YEAR to become "impossible" as opposed to a mere 2 MONTHs. Seriously when I joined in APRIL they were like 4k and 2 months later they are 45k. WTF?) I hate to admit it, but it seems to be like status to be able to hold one of them =/ So that is why it's causing so much greed.

What would an Menewshan world be without them?
Much more peaceful, less fighting, less complaining maybe. We will all survive one way or another.

I think my prestige got lost in the mail. Seriously, people are talking about prestige this and prestige that, and the only difference I've noticed is that I didn't feel right asking for charity when I was questing. Maybe I'm stupid and missing the obvious, but quite honestly the attention I get doesn't change with my avatar's outfit.

Do I think the inflation on the V-Day items are insane? Of course, and if the P.T.B. decided to re-release them next year I would be all for it. How-ever, if it weren't the V-Day items that were so inflated, it would be something else. Crowns, St. Paddy's items, Welcome set...

The Valentine items are lovely, I agree they are pretty costly to buy and I cant imagine I'll ever be able to afford any of them (I really only like the pin and lovelipop anyways XD)

I like them all, but the only ones I really wanted were the belt and the pendant--and I have had enough gold to buy them in the past, but couldn't find anyone who was selling. I have a feeling that some people were holding on to them to get a higher price...

It was really off-putting for me. People know that if they hold onto event items and CIs that they will inflate--thanks to the longevity of Gaia--and that if they keep the items for a few months or more that they can get large sums for them.

But even if people sold all of their extras today it wouldn't matter. People would still be offering higher and higher prices to get people to trade their items. Inflation would be even worse because then it isn't an issue of people with extras holding out, but people needing a greater incentive to get rid of their only item.

The fact that the V-day items are just so beautifully done only adds to it. They go with a lot of the store items, so they are easy to add to items.

What is your stance on these items?
they're soo cutee, but for awhile i've given up on even trying to get on..

Do you think perhaps they induce so much greed?
that's probably truee, even though i hate to admit it.

What would an Menewshan world be without them?
probably good, but its too late to change it.
we'll just have to educate others on not being soo greedy. Dx

i didn't know that the valentine items were the cause of offsite trading. o:
but it doesn't help the community.

there's actually a few people who are selling valentine items,
and they don't seem to be that much compared to others who have priced them too high.

i do like the vday items, and i was even lucky enough to get one of them.
i would quest for some of them, if they werent so expensive.
i think though, that they are a significant part of the community, and it wouldnt be the same without them. noone would have an impossible quest for them to look forward to.XD and yes, something else would replace them.crowns probably.its hard to escape really, without eliminateing items being limited and donation items. with limited and donation items, there will always be inflation.

I would love to have even one V-day item. But yes, I do think that they cause for a bit of greed. Though, some people post on Mene on a regular basis just because of these items. I think it's possible that Mene will be even quieter than it already is.. I wish that event items would stay on permanently as a store item after the event was over, even if it has to be more expensive, but that would keep the items from inflating, and keep people from posting just to get the items. Even if it is quieter here, I think it would be more pleasant, there would definitely be less useless postings xP

As people have said before me, it's an inevitable characteristic of the community, it's just how it works. Supply and demand, right?
I joined a few days after the event and was lucky enough to get the sash automatically; After that, I quested for them and was extremely happy when I got them. It really didn't take too long for me to get them, honestly.
It does make me sad to see that the newer users and even a lot of the older users can't afford them and knowing that some people have duplicates of the items saddens me a tad... But oh well.
Unless we become a Communistic community, I don't think anyone's going to be happy on this issue.
And personally, I would really dislike to see them re-released. That's a big peeve of mine... Not to mention the users who've dedicated their whole Menewshan "life" to obtaining these items... Not fair in the least.

As appealing as keeping them as expensive store items is, I don't think it'd be right unless they were like 35k. xD
Besides, these items are the first ever special items of Menewsha. They're supposed to be rare and not-so-easy to obtain (well, they weren't back then but I'm sure it was predicted that way).

The only thing that is really really REALLY bad about these items is that there are so few in existance. Many people keep mentioning the fact that "If it was not these items, then it would be something else"

But it would NOT be to the degree of the V-day items. There has to be less than 300 active sets, to compare to a 7k memberlist. That supply and demand demands crazy prices.

Aeris, just because xxx went and hoarded 100+ V-Day items doesn't mean they shouldn't exist.

I treasure the ones I have as they're so symbolic. I love every bit of their detail and what they stand for.

They're pretty and I will never get one because of my newness...which makes me a little sad but I don't wish they weren't here. That is how inflation works...it happens in real life too...one of a kind paintings, antique tables....there are only so many and everyone wants it so it costs millions. I think that we should just look at it as mene mimicking real life... :o

I know you said almost. xD

I myself sometimes wish they didn't exist. Then again, hoarders would have found something else to stockpile.

Again I say, it wouldn't be has bad because at least there would be more items. Even in March, there was enough people to get more items like the crowns and the St. Patty items. Not only that, but they were buyable through other means, rather than given.

This makes the supply so scarce that it inspires these offsiters and hoarders. *sighs and kills self. X.x;;;

o.o [revives Aeris] :D <3

The offsite-ness and hoarding is rather disappointing. :( I still don't see how someone can hoard so many... I really dislike things like that. It makes me wish things like this could be regulated, though that's completely unrealistic, I know...

but what's done is done, and I wuv ze items. ): Don't make them go away. xDDD

Hahaha thanks <3<3<3 *back to life yo 8)

It makes me so sad, and I realize people offsite for other things, but the v-day items do get people crazy enough to sink to that level. :?

And oh I agree, those items are so beautiful and that's where my almost comes in. XD;; I mean, who can deny the beauty of that hairpin? I know when anyone first gets on the site, that's the first thing that people just awe at.

Granted, I love Menewsha with it's beautiful hairpins. I'm lucky enough to have a gold clover hairpin, which is also very beautiful. ^^ <3

@Jesmond: Well, I also think that they shouldn't be re-released now. I think that it's too late to do something like that ^^; Just if it was available right after just for a higher price, then I think it would be okay. Not anymore, since it's already set up to go away after... =)

If it weren't the V-Day items, it'd be something else.

Every site needs some super fabulous almost impossible to obtain ultra rare item. It's like, a rule. XD
