Morien- I know, right @ [email protected]? I remember when BL started really appearing on shelves more frequently, which magnified the lack of story-driven yuri. Hopefully yuri can catch up xD. I think it'll do well, as BL really has a following, and there's gotta be just as many people who enjoy the other side, and of course those of us who love both.

I love Shojo-ai. I do hope that yuri can catch up to yaoi, but I'm not into the terribly smutty stuff all the time. I like the sweeter, softer stories, especially for girl's love.
Also, it wouldn't be girl's love if a guy was included. >>; (Just saying that to the guy on the first page that mentioned that there were no guys in it).
I love Yamato x Kouya from Loveless.
I also am a fan of video game girl pairings, like Nel x Clair from Star Ocean, but my favorite girl x girl pairing from anything is Fuu x Olette from Kingdom Hearts 2.
I also read a lot of girl's love stories that are made by artists on other sites, not anyone that is published. For me, those are always the best. They are sweeter and don't appeal to public demand of panty shots and guys walking in on girls...it's purely about two girls and their love written from someone like me who doesn't get paid for it. ^^;

If anyone likez it, i would love to have a fan to discuss it with ^w^

Is it licensed, does anyone know?

if it is not incredible boring to me
its tough for me to like Yuri.
it can get as about as cheesy as Hetero Shoujo.
freaking bubbles and flowers and blushing, that just goes on and on. and you want to stab something.
badly done meetings of the girls, breast grabbing, which seems to be the focus for half the series. bleh
it greatly depends on what it is.
i guess i am just picky like that

well i am all the way yaoi lover but recently i found a yuri/shoujo-ai that really caught my eye because the storyline looks so sad
the explicit stuff kinda scares me but its nothing new really with the whole yaoi thing
so yeah i aint one of these people that hates it and does everything in their power to insult it but it ain't particularly my cup of tea
like shoujo-ai no so much yuri in other words

i've never actually read many. i've read one which was called Blue, but for some reason, i have no desire to read Yuri. now Yaoi is a different story.
in my mind, Yuri just seems cheesy and just about blushing girls and i'm like 'get real!'(basing this off of the one Yuri i did read) and Yaoi is just more humor, and gets the storyline across more fluidly, unlike the Yuri that has to make the story a complicated mess of nothing.
*again, the above statements are made based on the reading of one Yuri book and tons of Yaoi.
edit: is Revolutionary Girl Utena considered Yuri? i've never read it, but was curious

the basic form of yaoi is "no story, no plot, no climax" yada yada.
so when someone says they dislike Yaoi (aka) Fictional Homosexual males stories. they get bashed at being a "homophobe" which is just stupid. since a lot of gay men dont like yaoi either.
shounen-ai and shoujo-ai.
the stories are a bit more focused. but can at times be childish. in a sense of the whole OMG I"M BLUSHING TEE HEE.
yaoi and yuri.
drama after drama, which is why i am so picky about it. then they try to be serious and its laughable.
Opinion/
as for Utena. i wouldnt even call it a shoujo-ai or yuri. the focus wasnt about the girls trying to fall in love. it was about both growing up and protecting each other. no doubt there is love. but it didnt feel that it was the main purpose of the show.
the MOVIE i would say yes. the series. i have to say no.

While I don't mind homosexuals in real life I'd rather read about straight people...but I guess if I were to choose between yuri and yaoi I'd rather choose yuri.

I like both Yuri and Yaoi. I usually like fanbased pairings but none the less, I can see yuri potential in most animes. I think that's why I like some of them so much.

I liked Haru Yo Koi..... I found it on Mangafox. It's one of only a couple that I have read, but other then the explicit parts (lots of girl on girl, not really my thing.... I have a fiance and I'm a mommy) the story line is really engaging. It's about two girl's struggle with discovering their sexuality, and while one discovers she really is a lesbian the other falls in love with her friend's (ex-girlfriend.... the other main character) brother. Who has a girlfriend. And also, the girl in love with the brother has a guy who's massively in love with her.
A ways into the story it kind of all turns into your typical graphic shoujo, though, because it focuses more on the straight girl. But I really like the series.
