We call ourselves wise and sing our praise
Vainly accomplish with own names to raise

We call ourselves strong and run to destroy
Thinking only of soldier not fate of the boy

We call ourselves kind and pretend to care
But animals are dying and pollution is there

We call ourselves concerned and talk of weight
Though the less of beauty cry from the hate

How many more to suffer and how many to die?
How many more before we can open our eyes?

Because we think we've done right for humanity
But all I see is a world of choas and insanity

Cuz thinking you're good ain't gonna do a thing
And which is why my people I now gotta sing

Get off your butts and take a look around
Nothing but pain and broken futures to be found

I am but a mere child but beyond adults I see
So swallow your pride and start listening to me!

The adults of today don't have to see the end
But for tomorrow, for child, the world must mend

This was written entirely by myself. It was inspired when I started thinking about a few problems with my life and how everyone else had simular problems, like how I was judged because I happen to be less than beautiful. Then I just thought of this. Please. Read it and try to take it to heart. And if you have any comments it and how it makes you feel and how you think it can be improved, please tell me.

  • I think that poem hit the spot about how I feel when people misuse the world and the things in our world. I think you hit it right on the spot about how people think they are doing good when they are truly harming the atmosphere.

How many more to suffer and how many to die?
How many more before we can open our eyes?

    I love this line.

I didn't understand the last line, but maybe it's just me.

Overall, I find your poem to be truly meaningful. Keep up the good work.

I just started to think everything that was wrong in the world, and then I started thinking about people. How they THOUGHT that they were all good and that it doesn't matter, and I just started getting mad. I wanted this to change people's views and if people see it on the internet... Well. I hoped I'd get lucky and maybe it'd spread.

As for the last line, it basically means that the adults may not care because they wont' be around for much longer. But I"m telling them that then, their children are going to suffer in their place. It came from the ad I saw on TV. A train was coming and polluting the air to repersent what we were doing to the Earth. The man stepped out of the way saying that it wouldnt' affect him... And then the scene fades off showing a little girl that was standing behind him, about to get hit. That just really got to me and I had to add it in to close the poem.

Thanks. Its one of the few sparks of inspiration that I managed to find in my eternal writer's block. I hope one day, it'll open some eyes.
