My parents and I have been arguing about where to go on vacation next week (we're totally unorganized and crap about this)
My parents really really want to go boating, but we do that EVERY SINGLE vacation almost and I want to do something different.
My sister doesn't want to go boating either, so it's a bit frustrating to get everyone to agree about one place.
My mom also mentioned maybe going to Disney or Universal Studios, but I've been to each nearly 8 times and I really want something NEW.
I'm not into swimming much, and I dislike roller coasters.. which is what most of our vacations include.
I'd really like to go to New York City or something, but according to them there's too much "crime rate" and we might get "mugged". Besides if I went there I'd want to go on a friggen shopping spree - but I have NO money T_T
So, what I'm asking is: does anyone know of a good place for a family vacation? Please do tell me your experiences and everything about the place <.< I'd really like for us to figure this out soon. And we aren't going out of the US so don't include anything outside the US <.<
Here's a list of places I've been, like I said, I want to go somewhere I've never gone before.
-Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure
-Disney World and related themeparks
-Seaworld
-Busch Gardens
-Six Flags
-Key West
-Niagra Falls
-Mt Rushmore
-Beaches(I've been to 100s of beaches so going to another would be out of the question for me XD)
-Yellowstone
-Bad lands
-Wisconsin Dells
-Lake of the Ozarks (and many other lakes aswell)
-I've been to Florida a million times (I used to live there) and thats out of the question aswell.
-Chicago (and probably every interesting place in Illinois, I live here)
I'm really into museums and stuff, so maybe someone suggest a really good one? I've looked online already but I want a persons actual opinion of where we should go on vacation.. based on experiences and stuff.

If you like horses, try a dude ranch. I went to one in Kerhonkson, New York called Pinegrove Dude Ranch, and it was a blast. They have EVERYTHING. Pools. Horseback riding. Arcade. Shows. Cocktail party for adults and Coketail party for kids. It was an awesome vacation!

That's the places website. I think you have to book more than a week in advance, though.

lol I live in Florida and I am like yo, if I see another beach I'll shoot someone o.O
Go to Louisiana =D, new Orleans, or perhaps Seattle...
I lived in both, Louisiana is a beautiful place to relax, get some crawfish, enjoy life in general...
Seattle is full of Broadway shows and plays, and theres TONS of things to do there....I;'d move back in an instance =D

- Vacation, the thing we all live for. :'D Or at least I do.
In about 5 weeks me and my grandparents are going for two whole weeks to Drenthe (you don't have a clue where that is, but it's cool).
Going to a Centerparc-.. no wait, it's a Landal Green Parc (similar to Centerparcs).
My parents are thinking of booking a last minute flight to Portugal (Algarve), but I think that isn't going to work out even the slightest bit. My Dad is a disaster when it comes to going on a vacation. He's always making up excuses, I don't know why (he doesn't like going out for dinner with us either).
Next Saturday I'm going to Phantasialand, that's in Germany. I'm going with a friend, but it's not sure IF there's even going to be a ride to the Theme park since there are too less applications.. So yeah, the bus isn't going to ride four hours for just two people. xD;;
Ok, back on-topic. I have no clue for a nice family vacation in the US, since I've never been there before. xD;; Sorry!

Yeah, of that list I recommend you Sea World, because there's only one roller coaster in that park [that's what I hated it xD] and the other things there, are only shows of aquatic animals, but they're very entertaining ^_^! and shopping [whale plushies are loveee], and maybe ice creams and aquariums, they're very beautiful~ so I hope you and your family choose wisely so you can have a pleasant vacations xD.

Cincinnati, Ohio has some really good museums and such. They also have a nice aquarium place where there is a really long walk-through with the sea life swimming all around you. I went there a few years back, and I have to say it was the best aquarium I've ever been to. Only thing I could really say detracts from the city are all the hills, but it's really okay if you have a lot of energy. xD
San Fransisco is a really nice place to vacation to also, and I'd definitely suggest that. I hear the museums are nice there, but considering I was only there for three days and it was with my friend (we didn't have much money at all, we were there mostly just for a concert), we didn't get the chance to go into any of them. The Golden Gate is beautiful, as is the scenery around that area. So if you like walking around in nature and stuff, there are some great trails up around the bridge area. It's really awesome out there, I know I've been meaning to get back there again (hopefully soon), so I'd suggest that city as a good place to go.
And wow, I have to say I'm a bit jealous. xD I've never really been to much of anywhere. ^^;; I have been to Chicago though, but I live near there also. xD

I live in New York City and it's very silly for your parents to be afraid. Remind them of all of the museums, historical buildings and culture that you are able to find here.
It's a big city and very easy to get around without being stranded in the dodgey areas. You should try doing a little more convincing if it's where you want to go.

Hi there, I am fairly new. So, I was just going through some of the older posts and saw yours. May be you can use this for next years vacation. How about going on a cruise. I loved the one I was on. I went to the Bahamas. The food is great and it another why to travel to see different places.

I live in florida so I've been to all those theme parks as well. I always think it's funny when my friends and I are like "what did you do this weekend?" and then someone says "oh - I went to disney again" like it's something we do all the time because it IS something we do all the time.
I'm not really sure - NYC sounds like it would be so amazing. I've just never been there - I want to see a musical on broadway.
