I adore guinea pigs. They've got to be one of the greatest pets out there. They're just the sweetest darn things. Even the ones that are afraid of being picked up, once you've got them in your arms they're just happy as a clam to cuddle with you.

I've wanted a guinea pig for a long time and I finally got one this week. She's white and fluffy and has the prettiest little blue eyes. She's a tiny little thing -- I don't know how old she is but she must be pretty young. We named her Runt, but it's not because of her size and it isn't meant to be mean. It's actually a Disco Pigs reference.

I'd love to hear whatever stories anyone has about guinea pigs. Feel free to share pictures of your piggies as well! I don't have any pictures of Runt yet, but once I do I'll post them here. ^^

Guinea pigs are cute, but I dont think I could have one as a pet ecause they tend to be not as clean and harder to keep clean. D:
But I have a pet Gerbil! ^^ I named him NightStar cause he's black with white spot on it's head and under his neck. ^^

I like gerbils, but I'm kind of scared about trying to handle them because they're so dang fast and they tend to jump out of peoples' hands. @[email protected]; I'd be afraid that they'd get away from me and go hide somewhere or something.

I miss my old Guinea Pig ._.
His name was Bob and we got him as company for our old Rabbit, Murphy. Bob seemed to think that Murphy was a small female guinea pig and not a big male bunny, so... o_0 Murphy didn't seem to mind though.
Bob was all white with red eyes. I don't think he could see at all, which made it easy to pick him up and stuff, as he never saw you coming to get him.
I ended up giving both Bob and Murphy to a friend of mine's Mother, as she collected Guinea Pigs and Rabbits and I was going abroad. He always made the cutest noises, kind of like a duck being held underwater :shock:

hehe, yea. They do run fast, but it's ot to hard to catch them as long as you dont freak them out. :]
And they like to move around so they aren't exactly the hugging type, they try to walk off your hand, lol. But they are fun to play with. It all depends on the gerbil you get, because my sisters gerbil was very sweet and let you hold him, he wouldn't move to much and actually would sometimes fall asleep in your hands. ^^

My friend has one, he's half albino.

He's not white, but he has red eyes...

He's practically ancient.
He's lost a few of his front teeth.

I can't remember mine, but I think I had some before when I was little.
I wouldn't want one now since I have birds to take care of. I love my birdies.

I'm more of a dog person though, but I can't have a dog in my third floor apartment and go to and take care of it. Dx

Ah yes guinea pigs are very adorable. I have yet to have one but I visit Pet Smart and Petco often enough that I see them at least once a week. For someone who doesn't have a lot of money the pet stores are the closest thing to a zoo. :P One of my many nephews had a pet guinea pig but it was captured and eaten by my sister's (his mother) cat. A little gross.

I've never had one.

I used to have a guinea pig, well, grandma did. It was long haired and looked like a big fluff-ball. My grandma named him rags. ^^; If you left he'd always get really excited and start chattering when you came back.

This was a looong time ago. They had him before I was born because they liked to sit him on mom's stomach and watch me try to kick him off. XD;

I want a guinea pig soo bad >< My dad is completely against rodents now, even though I did have a gerbil at one point. I've been working on them for 4 years for a cat, and that isn't going to fly. I can't wait for you to get pictures, they're just so cute..

We had two guinea pigs but they both died - I really liked Chocolate (he was brown)
He was soo lovable and when we let him out for a run around in the living room he would do that little jumping thing they do when they are happy <3

when i was younger we had guinea pig class pets but they died!

My girl is still very shy, but she's coming around. The kitties are a little curious about her, but they're not really all that interested most of the time -- usually just when she's making noises. They got used to the bunny pretty quickly, so hopefully they won't want to eat my piggie for dinner. @[email protected];

I had two guinea Pigs a few years ago. Very cute. >.< They're still me favorite animal ever. ^_^ I had a black one, and a tan one, both were named Sandy and Blacky (Original, I know).

It was about a week after I go them, Valentines day, and they started puuring like they do when they're really happy. >.< That was the best day ever. X3

I've always wanted to get one of the long haired one, though... I would love to do their hair in cute brades. >.<

I had two guinea pigs, Tony and Caramel. My favorite was Tony though. He was the smartest guinea pig ever. One time we let tony out in the backyard and we couldn't catch him. Later on when we were eatting dinner, we saw this black furry thing scurry across the floor and it turn out to be Tony. He crawled up the steps across the house and into his cage. He can also understand commands. He knows 'Stop' and 'Go.' He was also super cute~ Caramel was too. I miss them.

I've wanted a guinea pig before, but I soon realized that I have cats and It wouldn't be fair to the little guy.

I have two cats, as well as a rabbit, and now a guinea pig. I'm not sure I understand how it's unfair (to any of them)? Of course I'm not just going to let them run around in the same room unattended or anything like that.

Sadly most of my guinea pigs died..

they suffocated when my dad accidentally put a bunch of junk on the container I was keeping them in when i was cleaning their cages x_x

Yeah most of my pets have died on some tragic accident

I'm scared to keep my eyes off my pets.. because they might get hurt

or killed when I'm not around.

I've never really had to worry about that too much, except a couple years ago when I lived with some really irresponsible roommates and one of them had a ton of people over all the time to get drunk. At the time I only had a cat, but I was really worried they'd hurt her, be it accidentally or on purpose.

Doesn't anyone else have any guinea piggie stories to share? Or even pictures?

My piggie is doing great, she's getting less skittish every day. My fiance keeps telling me that I should let her play with the bunny, but I don't think that's such a great idea -- she's still tiny and the bunny has gotten pretty darn big. I'm afraid he'd hurt her or something. ;-;
