Okay, so one time I was sending someone a pm on Zantarni (before you tell me this is in the wrong section please keep reading) to someone who I have known for a very long time on the internet. At first, he didn't seem to mind; however, as time progressed and I sent the third reply to him I got a reply with: "Stop pming me! I don't get any gold for making private messages. If you want to talk to me you can talk to me on the forums." - and that, ladies and gentlemen, slightly killed my respect for that person because I then knew they were more interested in making gold than in talking to me. D:

So, I ask this of you:

lol I get that sometimes on other websites that don't issue gold, or some sort of currency, for PM's. I'm glad most sites don't do that, though. It just encorages spam from acount to mule just to get money. >.<

I don't feel we should get gold in PMs because it could so easily be abused. People could send PMs back and forth to mules, just to accumulate gold. And for that reason, I don't see it ever being allowed.

I don't mind PMs and would especially not gripe about getting them since they don't give gold!

I'm with you on not allowing gold in pm's myself seeing as I'm not too keen on people taking advantage of something of that sort. I'm someone who loves to talk in private messages and I felt very upset when I got that reply from my friend. D: In fact, it made me leave Zantarni because I felt that if he felt that way a lot of other people might too. I dunno, I like it here better anyhoot. But, going back to the point: I wouldn't like gold in pm's because of the abuse as Aliena stated and because it would give the wrong kind of people the incentive to start spamming other people's inboxes with trash.

I wouldn't mind getting gold for PMs at times because I can tend to write rather lengthy ones and it would be satisfying to be rewarded for having sore fingers. :lol: Not earning gold doesn't influence my decision to talk via PM though. I do tend to use it either for a specific question or when I want to hold a private conversation not visible on the main boards. I can understand how it could be abused and I don't think earning gold from it will ever be an option. <3

i dont see gold for PMs being added here. it would just encourage main to mule spam. i PM my mule now. if i dont want to clutter up my inbox and i have a great idea, or find something i want to keep, i send it in a PM to my mule. but other than that, i rarely get or send PMs, so i wouldnt make much gold anyway.

• Sadly, a lot of peoople like that are even on Menewsha. I've seen tons of people who even admit to be posting just for the gold.
  
  Sure it's fine to be posting for gold or a higher post count, but you should also want to talk to other members, and gold/post count should not be a higher priority then talking to a friend! That would be really tick me off if I ever pmed someone and they told me that!

Depending how people use it, sometimes you want to talk to your friends in private and it really dosen't care but some person don't wanna hear cause they don't do money like you say but if is to make money more faster yes but I will like the both :??? XD

I don't think we should receive gold fro pm's because it would be too easy for users to abuse this. For example, two users could just copy and paste pages of text and send it, receiving a lot of gold.
Only those with admin powers would be able to police the pm's, and that would be a lot of work.

situations as in the first post, or people that just send crap because they want

Maybe if a PM would give gold only once a day, that would be fine, cause you
are alowed to make 1 mule, just PM your mule, or something...

Anyways, I agree with everyone who's saying gold should not be earned from PMs.

I don't think we need to earn gold for PMs. It would be nice, but too many risks involved with spammers.

Sometimes I think things need to be said in PMs and shouldn't make it to forums. It would just create a mess of "private" threads. I know that I send mundane and pointless pm's to my good friend and I'm glad no one else can see them. things like "I Luff that chocolate rain song, but not as much asUUUUUU <3" kinda stuff, pointless and meaningless to anyone but us. The no gold thing I don't care about. If it will keep people from sending me PM's about not having gold and please could I help them out, or things like strings of letters and symbols than the Greatest Idea is to not allow gold for PMs. Trolls=BAD NEWS

Even though I hold MANY upon MANY conversations via PM I would prefer that we not get gold for it. I think the forums provide a sufficient amount of gold, so I don't really see a problem with the system we have. Perhaps more games that give gold, but never PMs.

Chu. I don't really want gold for pms... or at the most you get like 1g-5g for sending your first pm of the day and that's it. (Nothing more after that). I post pretty fast, talk to alot of people and I get gold really easy because of that.

So unless like I'm dying for gold (like I have to pay back someone as soon as possible or like if I was bidding in the auction) then I would never tell someone to talk to me in the forums instead of the pms.

The only other time I would ask someone to speak to me in the forums instead of pms, is if there is (by chance) some 100 odd things we have to talk about. Then I would like be talking to same person in like five different threads on five different topics. But that has never happened, so yeah. I don't mind talking in pms.

So basically, no I don't think we should get gold for pms (unless like it's a once a day type of thing).

I like PMs xD I dont mind that they dont give gold, I agree with mostly everyone here. If gold was given out with PMs people would abuse that and especially trolls. All they'd have to do is PM whoever they see and they could make hundreds in a matter of an hour. But then again, I guess trolls can do that in forums anyway :3

It would be too easy to abuse if PM's gave out gold. As it is I tend to just carry out business like commissions and buying of items over PM's so it doesnt bother me that you cant earn gold with them.

I think that guy is very rude. )< I would never tell anyone that. I wouldn't mind pming a person but I do rather talk in the forums because it doesn't take up space in my inbox. Sometimes I would need the space for other important things.

Well, I'm kinda glad to see that the majority of people here sans maybe two users don't want any gold for the pm system. I can see where the once a day gold granting from the pm system would be good but I dunno on that one. Maybe if it was a fair but non-ridiculous amount? :/

I dont' think they should give out gold just for sending a PM. I mean the whole point of the forums is to hang out and chat with everyone. If you're having a private conversation that's cool however you shouldn't get gold for something that others can't comment on.

That being said... I've always answered pm's, and never ignored with someone just because I can't gold by talking only to them. That really isn't the imporant thing in regards to avatar based forums. To me the point is to say your piece and make friends... sounds like the guy you were talking to didn't understand that.
