Aww. T___T; Usually mama cats will only do it if they don't want to/don't think they can take care of the babies, or humans/whatever have touched them too soon. Iunno how rabbits work.

Hai, I think we touched them, overeager little kids that we were. T-T;; didn't understand, at that age, just wanted to pet kitties. <//3 As for the bunnies, they'd freak out and eat if you came near their cage for too long while they were nesting the babies, but you had to to change their food and water. Or they'd do it if the weather didn't seem like it was going to support them, like there was a cold spell. We did have them give birth in the winter before, in an outside cage, and have baby bunnysicles. T-T;; I remember mom holding one up, stiff as a board. xD;; <//3
