"Alright, alright." He moved beside the couch and lifted Risa from her perch and then settled in himself, laying her in between him and the backrest.
"We'll go tomorrow, but for tonight, your at least going to have to make some adjustments. I'm not sneaking upstairs past Juri's room when she's asleep."
Besides, he thought drifting off, He could ruin his life just fine without anyone's help...in preventing him or otherwise, he was already this far wasn't he?

"Kane! We shouldn't be sleeping together! You have a bed upstairs!" I blushed as he snuggled into the crest of my neck and I sighed, feeling defeated. Besides.. this closeness is what Ive wanted all along.. I heard his breath soften on the back of my neck and I smiled to myself, closing my eyes softly, hearing his breathing regulating.
"Goodnight my love." I said, pulling the blanket form the back of the couch over the both of us. I soon was consumed by a deep sleep.

His eyelids drooped a bit as he relaxed in his seat. "So.. How long have I been out?"

He tried looking through the window to see where there were headed but the constant assault of raindrops on the windshield made it impossible.

I guess I'm just going to have to .. trust her. She has never betrayed me before though.. I should be alright for now

"Oh.. by the way.. I need to get ready for tomorrow.. eh.. is it possible I could.. make it back before noon.. tomorrow?"

He whipped his head around to avoid her ever so accurate mother's instinct.. Or how Zahara saw it, unavoidable mind probing.
He was not in the mood to be teased, suffocated in hugs.. or stalked.. if she discovered he was actually meeting up with a girl his reputation would be completely tarnished.

Crossing his arms over his chest under his coat he pouted and hoped maybe it would sound like he had detention.. but on a weekend? That wouldn't work.
It's inevitable, she'll see right through me.. must think of something..

He glanced at the dark gates they had passed a moment ago, barely seeing them through the curtain of water pounding at his window.

"Are we ..'home'?"

I smiled, looking over at him as I pulled up into the driveway; our car wasd the only one.


"About an hour or so. I didn't want to wake you, so I made my errands while you slept. I hope you like KFC." I smiled, pointing to the plastic bag full of food from the drive-through.

I turned the far off and sat back in my seat and looked over at him; he seemed to timid, like young child, the child I wish he was so I could cradle him as I used to before he got..all grown up like. The sound of the pounding rain was the only sound between us and I smiled.

"Got a date huh? I hope shes nice." I said simply, nodding, and keeping it at that. It was my job to look after him in any public place except school; I had thought about pulling a few strings and becoming a teacher there, to keep a closer eye on him and his fellow peers, but I decided he would get angry if I stayed too close to him all the time. I already had the feeling he didn't like me around anyway; as if I were the 'wicked stepmother' from an old movie.

"yes, this is our home for now. Its big, but plenty of room and marble floors for us to have wheely chair races, like we used to when you were a kid!" I laughed, thinking back on old times when I pushed him down the long hallway on a computer swivel chair and him laughing until his nose bled; I still didn't understand why it did that, but hopefully, that he had grown out of.

I picked up the plastic bag and my purse and looked to him.
"Ready to go in? I dont think the rain is letting up anytime soon, dear."

She was giving him that look.. That mother's look she had perfected so well. He could just feel it from behind him as he continued looking away. Any moment now she would reveal what he so carefully tried to hide.

"An hour.." He nodded, glancing over at her finger pointing at the white bag. "I see.."
I didn't think I was out that long..

He whipped his head away, hearing the inevitable coming from her mouth. He blew air at the bangs hanging in front of them deciding to ignore the comment.
"I just need to be back in town by noon.."
Hiding his face in his hair he cringed at the memories of his childhood. The times spent with her were his outlet from the harsh double life he lived with his boss. Though they were good memories, he couldn't help but feel insecure about his younger days.

"Sure.. lets go home"
He reached for the plastic bag pulling it lightly from her grip and picked up the umbrella from the side pocket of his seat. Exiting the car he walked around to her side and opened the umbrella, waiting for her to exit and join him.

I nodded.
"Whatever you wish, sir. I am only here to serve you, not to pry in your daily life.." I said, kind of half-heartedly. I had always wished he would open up to me like he would with a mother or a best friend, but he still kept his life a secret from me.

He took the bag and i could only smile.
What a gentlemen he has turned out to be...
I watched him carefully go around the car and open my door. I squeaked.
"Sir Zahara, I have my own umbrella, I'm the one who should be opening you door. Use yours on you to umbrella yourself. We don't need to getting sick now." I picked up my umbrella from the back seat and popped it open and stepped out, slinging my purse over my shoulder.
"Come on." I said, jerking my head towards the mansion.

Turning the key, and hitting a button on the key chain, the alarm disarmed and the door creaked open. I hit another button on another key chain, and the Mercedes beeped, signaling it was now protected.

Despite the place being HUGE, there was still a simple stoop for us to take our shoes off at and put on our slippers. i did so, closing my umbrella and putting it on the drying rack.

"It's getting late, you should take a nice hot shower to relieve the day while I go warm up dinner." I said sweetly, taking the plastic bag from him.

Saturday came and Kane shifted in his dreamy state...wondering what that warm thing was that lay beside him.
"Don't you two look comfy." Juri smirked from the bottom of the couch, sitting on one of the arms.
"J-Juri!" Kane all but leapt to his feet sending both Risa and him into the floor. He jumped up quickly checking to see if he'd hurt her in anyway.
"Risa, are you alright! I didn't mean to-- I'm sorry!"

With a hard, rude awakening I opened my eye abruptly and looked up at Kane, upside down. I grinned sheepishly and nodded, feathers about the room.
"Im...fine." I sat up and rubbed my head and sat indian style on the floor. I looked up at Juri and smiled, blushing.
"Good morning..." I looked to Kane and pointed to his...area, which he needed to hide.
"Did you sleep well, Kane?" I asked him, smiling. The sunshine reflected off my feathers as I sat on the floor, Oreo jumped up onto the couch and mewed at Juri.

Kane blushed and moved to the other side of the couch.
"AHEM!" He coughed, clearing his throat.
"Y-yeah." Juri smiled, shaking her head at her brother.
"Morning Risa, what would you like for breakfast, you two have a big day ahead of you don't you? The carnival's today right? You're going aren't you?"

I only smiled; I meant for him to hide that form his sister, not me. I didnt mind; he was pressed against my back all night anyway, and I doubted he had even realized that.
"Anything, I like anything you cook Juri" I said smiling at her brightly. I stood up and stretched my arms up, and my wings out, very wide and very carefully.
"I think we're going, if Kane still wants to go..." I looked to him, still huddled in a ball on the end of the couch.

Juri brightened.
"Now see, why can't you be like that Kane?" She said looking over.
"I would be, if you could cook." She jerked a pillow up and threw it at his head, he barely dodged, laughing.
"Fine, I'll see what I can get going, you two need to get ready if you're going." She looked pointedly at Kane.
"You are right?" Kane looked back at her, from where he'd been distracted for a moment by Abel and his obsession with shiny objects.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, of course we are. I didn't go through Dodgeball hell not to."

I smiled cutely as the two of them insisted on bickering back and fourth and I nodded as she told us to get ready.
"You said you won the tickets and really didnt care..? Gah! Im going to get ready!" I said, folding my wings against my back once more and running up the steps.

Upstairs, I rummaged though the trash bag called my clean clothes and pulled out a sun dress and long tight black pants. I... wished I didnt have to wear pants under a dress, but I had to hide my wings. I pulled off my pajamas and routinely tied my wings down and pulled on my bra then dress. I carefully put my pants on, pushing my wings and feathers into the tight leggings; I grimaced at the pain of the tightness of the pants but I wanted to look good for Kane.. and if it meant couped up, tight, smothered wings, than so be it. Feathers about the room from my tieing them down, I went to his mirror and brushed my hair.

Kane smiled and headed up after her, but turned and went to the bathroom to take a shower, he'd had one the night before, but he decided that it might be best if he didn't go around half clean on such an important occasion...after all, this was really his and Risa's first date.
After he was through, he came out in a pair of shorts that he alway sleft in the bathroom, hand drying his hair. He moved to his door, and knocked.
"Ya Decent?" He asked through the wood, smirking.

I looked at the reflection of the door in the mirror.
"Of course, aren't I always?" I said back smartly. I finished tieing my hair back and sat down on his bed and looked around as he entered.

He smiled, opening the door.
"How am I supposed to know, I don't want to come in here with you half naked and then get attacked by one of your furry protectors." He chuckled and squatted in his floor to pick out his cleanest dirty shirt, and pair of pants....he was really going to have to clean up in here...and do his own laundry, this just wouldn't do while Risa was here.
"Again, sorry about the mess." He said subconciously, while judging a shirt's worth with a quick sniff.

"My furry protectors? I had a long talk with them, they know their boundaries. Honestly, i wouldn't care if you saw me naked, you already have back at the psychos ward, and I had seen you. We.. honestly really have nothing to hide." I smiled up at him.
"But I can understand your shyness; you were shy this morning, but I dont think you realized you were behind me all night...." I smiled warmly at him.
I shook my head.
"It's your room, I dont mind. Its like... pieces of you all over. Its my heaven." I laughed.
"Its nice to see where you reside when not at school, and what youre personal life is like. I...didnt ever think id see your room, or the personal side of you, yah know."

Kane smiled, nodding.
"That's true." He chuckled, thinking of how he really didn't register Risa this morning until he freaked out and landed on top of her.
"I really didn't.." He admitted. He blushed, slipping the shirt on, and laughed under his breath.
"Nice to know you think so highly of it." He smiled, jerking on a pair of pants and looking for his boots.
"Well, with my rep at school, it's no wonder. But at least you're not scared of me anymore..." He grinned.
"Not like everyone else can say the same."

I shrugged and waved it off.
"No biggie, youre a guy. I'm well aware of that." I laughed.
"They taught us alot in health class so nothing to be ashamed of." I smiled, looking at my hand playing with the fingers on his pillow.

"I'm...glad we became friends and... more. I... never thought Id ever feel this happy. To know... someone is there for me always, and not judging me." I lowered my eyes, thinking of my mother.
"I... sometimes wish I wasn't alone in this winged thing though... but it can't be helped." I added, keeping my voice low.
"I dont mind holding you in flight, gives me a reason to touch you." I smiled.

Kane paused in his search, and blinked.
"I really shouldn't have skipped all of those should I?" he grinned, locating both his boots and his headband, tying them both on, in that order.
He brushed his hands over his black tee, and cracked his knuckles.
"There, I'm all set, don't I just look the bit of intimidating escort?" He said with a smirk.
"You know....Risa...I'm still willing..." He paused...then again, after her spaz last night he really didn't want to make her molt again, so he dropped it then and there.
"Mmm..I like it when you touch me." He said brushing a finger along her cheek.

I shook my head.
"No, they teach alot of things about the male and female body, stuff I never heard of or didnt even know!" I was totally serious and excited and looked to him as he tied on the headband. I could only smile at him.
"Intimidating to others, yes. Handsome to me, yes."
I furrowed my brows and shook my head.
"Dont even think about it Kane, or else." I blushed when he said that next thing and touched my cheek with his soft finger-I covered my face.
"Kane...! that sounded so wrong and dirty!" I giggled in my palms and looked up at him, pink cheeks and all.
"Ready?" I stood, slinging my purse over my shoulder and offering him my hand.

Kane chuckled.
"Well then, that's all that matters. So long as you think well of me, you're the only one that I worry about." He sighed and put his hands up in surrender.
"Fine, Fine. I won't think about it...much." He smiled, but that quickly turned into a sly smirk.
"It did...didn't it?" He laughed and nodded offering her his arm.
"I am, and I do believe that I smell Juri's cooking all the way up here....good grief...I hope it's not burnt."

I nodded at him.
"I always think well of you, Kane. Believe it or not, youre a kind-hearted man, and you try your hardest at everything you feel like it."
I growled, pulling at his cheek with my fingertips.
"I mean it Kane Shiori!!!Stop thinking about it because it isnt gonna happen!!!" I wanted to flap my wings out of excitedness and loudness of my voice, but almost fell over in the process of them being tied down.
I puffed out my cheeks and nodded in agreement. I locked my arm with his, taking a nice grip on his muscle on his upper arm.
"Juri's cooking is good, I dont know why you dont like it so much..." i led him out of his room and down the steps carefully.

He chuckled.
"That's certainly news to me!" He laughed.
"Hey now!" He went forward and made for her in case she fell forward, but Risa seemed to catch herself before she did too much damage to herself.
"Be careful there. You don't want to go falling all over yourself when we get out in public do you?" He smiled and poked her forhead gently.
As the two stepped out, he grimaced.
"For one.....too much soy...second....it's usually burnt."

Juri was setting out the table as they came down the stairs, she smiled over the spread and nodded.
"Alright kiddies! Breakfast is ready!" She sat down at her usual seat and waited on Kane and Risa to take theirs before starting.

I looked to him, blushing, as I noticed he went to catch me.
"I know... when I get heated or excited my wings just cant help but want to stretch.." I gave him a goofy smile.
"Aww, soy is good for your...fat thighs." I laughed, poking mine.

Downstairs, I unlinked my arm from his and practically flew to the table, covered in food.
"OH WOW!! This looks amazing! And smells good too!!" I sat down on Juri's right side and started to help myself, putting the food on my plate and cutting into it quickly. I glanced at the clock.
"The carnival yard opens at 10 am. Its probably not crowded much before 12, what do you think?" I looked to Kane, shoving half a pancake into my mouth.

"Fat? Who's fat? Not you." He said poking her side.
"You're....just right." HE let her get ahead of him before wrapping her up in his arms.
"Mmm...especially for cuddling."

Kane sat down, skeptic of his sister's cooking, but after taking a bite, he stared at his plate in bemusement.
"Juri?"
"Yes?"
"Who cooked this?"
"Me."
"No way."
"Why not?"
"It's good."
"Of course idiot, I went by the recipe this time."
"This time? Wait you mean that--"
"Well, duh. I like to experiment with things, those dishes before--they were test subjects." Kane let his fork clatter to his plate.
"You mean that you've been feeding me your....EXPERIMENTS?" Juri laughed.
"You really thought I couldn't cook didn't you."
"I hate you."
