He replied in a monotone voice:
"Yes there is a difference, yet we are the same in the end. her and I fit perfectly together."
The professor shrugged him off.
"i will not argue with a boy who does not believe in a positive future for humanity. I know deep in your heart you want to fly with Risa... and as Noah says, be with her completely. Those who want to change will come to me and become what they dreamed of. Most will do almost anything to be able to fly. I know it. Ill be waiting for you when you are ready."
He watched Noah run out of the room and laughed.
"he cannot be killed by the likes of you. He is stronger than you think."

Noah smiled, and stood, seeing Kane so fired up.
"Ohh I only wish Risa was here to watch me defend her kind. Bring it on, Red." he made a fighting stance and had his claws ready. He waited for Kane to make the first move. He opened his leather-like wings and readied for anything he had to throw at him.

Kane clenched his hands.
"When your dream comes crashing in about your ears, I'll be the loudest, laughing at your Icarus folly." He turned with a sad expression.
"Those who fly too close to the sun wil find that Wings made of wax and theory only melt and send their user plumeting to earth where they should have stayed."
"We will see old man, we will see."

"Risa..." Kane murmured softly...
"I...I don't care if I am being selfish, I'm not stopping till I'm sure I've WON!" He charged, like the reckless fool he was and made as though to punch Noah's jaw again, but then swept low and took his left into his gut.

[well, for a 1 rm apt, in the place were in, its 535$ which is pretty good for the area.]

"That is your opinion boy. You'll see."

Noah shrugged and jumped up at the last second before his fist would hit and caught a gust of night breeze, hovering above him.
"I really dont want to hurt you, since you are Risa's friend. I have a feeling she would be mad at us if she found we hurt one another. Why not just go home and enjoy your last days with her, huh?

((Wow, that's on the expesive side here, I think the lowest rent here is about 300-500. My brother is supposed to pay 300 a month and that's getting a deal!))

Kane barked out his answer, whirling around to keep his eye on Naoh.
"Last days my ass pal, I'll see more than you will!" He spotted his tree and ran to it, up the trunk and out into the limbs, they were farther apart now, but at least eye level.
"Tell me Noah, has she ever told you she loved you? I hear it everyday! And around me, she means it."

He watched his pathetic attempts to make eye level with him and only shook his head, flying closer to the tree, so they wouldnt have to yell.
"No worries. I will get her to say it to me in due time. At least when I will say it to her, i will mean it from my soul, and I will give her anything and everything she ever desires. I know you can and will never do that for her. She deserves anything she wants, and she deserves the intimate relationship she tries to pry from you. I can give her that without fear or cowardness." He looked at his nails.

"Oh really?" Kane laughed.
"I'm not going to turn this into a 'who's the better man' argument, that's pointless, but make no mistake." He leapt out from the tree and grabbed hold of Noah, latching onto his waist with all his might clawing at his face.
"I DO NOT LOVE BEHIND ANY FORM OF COWARDICE! RISK IT ALL TO GAIN IT ALL MY FRIEND LEARN THE CONCEPT!" He gripped a long phalange that stuck out in Noah's right wing, and hauled it down forcing the wing to close in on itself, if only it would break when they hit the ground, that would keep him land bound and they would be somewhat on even ground....heh...ground. Kane looked below and sighed to himself admist the turmoil around him.
This was going to hurt.

He looked on and tried to dodge but failed and looked down at Kane as he latched on to his waist.
"Come on now boy.. you risk nothing for Risa, except your pathetic life." He placed his hand, that was bigger than Kanes face, on his face and tried to push him off, but he wouldnt let go. He groaned and used both hands when he felt a sharp pain in his right wing. He let out a deafening screech and flapped hard with the left, but failed. They plummeted, and he made sure Kane would break his fall.

THUD
He laid atop of Kane and sat up, rubbing his lower back and looked to his bleeding wing.
"Bastard..." He said, running a claw over Kanes face to make a clean scratch that bled from his upper right forehead to his jawline on the left side of his face.
"I did not want to fight you. i know Risa will be upset."
"Damn right Im upset."
He jerked his head to look up, seeing Risa, flying above us in her pajamas.

Kane growled low in his throat.
"That's more than you do!" He snarled around the strong fingers that gripped his face.

He held his breath for that slow moment in time as he fell, he could see his face now, wide eyes angry and defiant, even as he was rolled beneath the heavy body.
He hoped he knew what he was doing.

THUDD! He felt all his air leave him as he and Noah both hit the ground, he lay there in the damp grass as Noah stood, he screamed in his head that he had to get up, had to keep fighting, but his lungs didn't respond...man...the ground hit like a Mac truck.
He didn't budge, well not until he heard Risa.
Kane turned his face to where she hovered and managed a small smile.
"Damn..." He chuckled finally able to breathe.
"I'm in trouble now."

[Oh hai! LOL]

Noah stepped off Kane and looked up at Risa and put his arms up.
"You, have returned!"
I landed on he ground and looked at the both of them.
"Had to, when i found out Kane wasnt home." I stared the both of them down.
"Noah.... how could you?"
He walked to me and took my hand.
"Risa, he came at me first, i was defending myself..."

Kane rolled onto his side and grinned, rising to a knee.
"He's right, I did hit him first. But you failed to mention why there buddy." He rose a little shakily, but before long, Kane was steady on his feet.
"Go ahead, explain to Risa how you two are 'meant to be together'."

He glared at Kane for a second then looked to me, my eyes full of anger, and betrayal.
"Risa, I told him that you and i should be one, be together, because we are alike, and our children, will grow up in a world full of acceptance, after the professor perfects his gene splicing. The world will rely on their wings to get them places, more fit people, less gas, less war. The professor will save humanity!"
My mouth was ajar.
SMACK!
I growled at him.
"NOAH! I TOLD YOU I LOVED KANE! That we would be just friends!"
"But Kane doesnt want to have an intimate relationship with you!"
My eyes widened.
"...how did you know that?"
"I spied on your conversation today... Risa... me and you, we belong together, we can be with one another wholly, without regret...and I will never reject you, like he does..."
I looked to the ground, away from the both of them.

Kane sighed, making his way between the two of them.
"Listen, I don't know what you heard Noah, but whatever it was, it was really none of your business. You had no right to hear anything that I might say to Risa, much less about anything like that." He looked to Risa.
"And you..."
He said hurt, his eyes growing kind of misty.
"How long have you been coming back here? And how could you sit there and promise me that you wouldn't do this, and LIE to my face, Risa do you honestly share these psychos vision? Of creating a world that will be torn apart by wars over superior genes?" He cracked his arm into place and winced.
"I don't know what to say..."

I stepped back as Kane moved between us. I furrowed my brows, they began to water.
"This... is why i told you i never wanted to get mixed up in a relationship...with anyone...."
Noah remained quiet.
"I need to leave.... like I planned before, this is getting out of hand..." I stepped away from the both of them and looked to the dark sky, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"If I ever explained to you, Kane... why i lied, you wouldnt understand.."

Kane growled out a curse and grabbed Risa's hand before she could take off like she was prone to do. He sighed heavily and crushed her to him, hugging her tightly.
"No, not this time Love, you're not going to run away, if I don't get something, then tell me anyway, help me to understand, if you left now, what could I go back to? School? The roof? And what would I tell your mother? She'd have me skinned alive and dipped in hot butter for dinner if I told her you were gone and I couldn't find you." He let his head rest on hers, and he was quiet for a moment.
"Talk to me Risa.....Please."

"Kane..." For a moment, I didnt hug him back... I lay limp in his arms, then finally, my arns around his waist and wings around us.
"Kane.... it... was amazing to fly with someone." I started, sniffling.
"I... didnt want to tell you because, I was promised by the professor that he could cure me... so I went back to him, but only these past 2 nights I did. I... didnt want to worry you, so i decided not to tell you.... it hurt the most when i lied to you, but, I didnt want you mixed up in all this..."
Noah, in stillness and a sort of awe, just listened and watched, then stepped in.
"Risa, you want your wings gone?? Why?"
I looked over Kanes shou8lder at him.
"Because I want to live a normal life...with Kane. Participate in my gym class... wear a dress... not have to tie down my appendages, with painful ties as I got out to try to live a normal life..."
"BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO WHEN YOU AND I GO TO THE MOUNTAINS! Risa, please, reconsider! We, can go flying together in the night and sleep together every night, id always be at your side, tend to your every whim..."

Kane smiled, eternally grateful for the warmth that Risa radiated. She..she felt right.
He pulled back a moment but only to lean in and kiss her gently.
"Shh, now." He said quietly to calm her down.
"You're going to worry me even when you don't try. That's just the kind of guy I am, I'm always going to worry about the girls in my life. You, however, most of all." He looked taken aback, but it was all for show.
"Me? Mixed up in all of this? Why Risa, whatever gave you that idea..." He feigned innocence and went on.
"Ok, so I totally broke inside the Professor's place again, but his window was open, AGAIN. And I totally started wailing on the Batman behind me, but that's not getting mixed up in anything is it?" Noah interjected then, and Kane turned to face him.
"Listen pal, if I can't change this Firecracker's mind I doubt you will, so how about we both stop trying and let her decide what she wants...." He looked back with a sigh.
"Even if I am going to miss those white masses of yours."

"Kane...I want to be free." I said simply, looking up to the sky.
"Free to fly... free to love, to hate and be hated, free to make love, free to just be naked when i want to..." I let out a sigh and looked up at him.
"With you... I feel like i cant ever do those things... because youre so weired around me, when i act differently..." I opened my wings and looked to them, running my hands through the fetahers.
"I love my wings.... its just a literal pain and inconvenience to have them...I just wosh i could be free to have them, thats why I chose to come back here, so if people so chose, they could become what I am, with the help of science. Why do you think that is so bad? Do... you disapprove of peopls dreams? Of my... disability?"

He chuckled.
"Then obviously you've never seen me around other girls." He laughed.
"I'm always going to act weird around you." He shrugged.
"It's...just one of those things, when I care about someone.....nine times out of ten they end up hurt, and I don't want to see that happen with you, so I do my best not to put you in any situation that might cause you to get injured."
He sighed, and hung his head with a shake.
"No, Risa, you don't have a disability, Nature chose to grace you with a power unbeknownst to mere mortals like me and Noah, People are spiteful, and those that chose your way might grow vain and set themselves up as Gods, while others, like me, who prefer to stay grounded the way that we were born, would only come to hate them and then..." He shuddered.
"I'd rather not see a world torn apart by hate anymore than it already is...this isn't for science..this is for the Human Ego. Trying to come as close to God as we can and failing miserably."

"You sure didnt act too twitchy around Chidori..." I said, walking away from him.
"I wish you two didnt have to meet under this circumstyance... I hoped we copuld all be friends, but I know that'll never happen." I glanced to Noah.
"I cannot, knowing you are giving your love to him, and he has nothing for you in return."
I closed my eyes, part of me thinking Noah was right. I looked to Kane with sad eyes.
"Kane... will you ever love me fully? Should I look forward to something, or just realize it will never happen and move on with my 2nd dream, of staying alone?"

Kane cocked his eyebrow.
"I didn't like her." He said simply.
"To be quite frank...she scared the piss out of me, her and her fangirl cronies."
He turned with a glare to Noah.
"Why don't you just be quiet?" He said exaspherated.
He turned to Risa......but this time slower than he had before...he sighed, clearly not knowing what to say.
"Risa, what do you want me to say? That I'm so hept up on taking you to bed with me that that's all I think about? Because that's not true. I'm not going to lie and say that I've never thought about it, but as for right now? I......I don't think I'm ready for anything like that." He wanted to step to her, Good Lord how he wanted to just take her in his arms and never let her go...but that wasn't going to help either of them out at the moment.
"I'm sorry if you feel differently...but......this time, I have to be true to myself."

"But she was a girl."
Noah huffed and flapped a strong gust at Kane.
I listened intently and looked up at him slowly, a bit of glint on my eyes.
"Id....be disappointed if thats all you ever thought about but... it hurts to think that you never see me and want to hold me... that you never long for me...the way I see you and sometimes just get the urge to tackle you on the spot and take you... the way I want..." I sighed, turning away.
"Im disgusting.." I covered my face.
"Feeling this way...for me... is forbidden... and its all the more reason for me to go, because you do not want this..."
Noah looked to her from his spot.
"Risa... it is not wrong to have those feelings.... its natural."
"Not for me... im a dirty, selfish beast that doesnt deserve his love."

Kane braced himself against the breeze and growled.
"Go find some movie actress to annoy will you!?" He snarled.
"Risa, no." He said gently.
"You're not disgusting, you're a Human girl with Human feelings and that's perfectly normal...as much as I hate to agree with Noah back there, he's right about that much at least." He stuck a hip out and propped a hand there, smirking.
"If you're a beast I'd hate to think what Noah and I are."

"I donno, but i do need to go, I hear the professor calling. Risa... you know where to come if you need me." He walked past me, running a hand over my cheek as he strided past. I looked up at him and tnanked him as he walked up to the mansion, then jumped up and flew into the window of his room.
A deep sigh and I looked to Kane.
"Sometimes I dont think im human Kane... I think I am far from it. Noah... is a spliced human, so he is half animal, half human. He HAS a diagnosis, an explanation... me... Im just... a defective product. One that doesn't deserve your forgiveness for what ive done." I tried not to smile at his sweet smirk, and that classic stance I loved so much and just turned away, stretching my wings up.
"Im so tired... I think i am going to spend my night alone on the rooftop of the school, until I figure you what im going to do. Do you want me to give you a lift home?" I looked to him hopefully, wanting so badly to have an excuse to hold him...and have him in the air with me.

((Aaaahhhhhh, SSOOOOO sorry I'm late, I hope you got my text about why.))

Kane smiled and wrapped his arms around her when she turned from him, sighing happily just to be near her again.
"I don't think you're defective, why with a little hot-wiring, you'll be just about perfect." He ran a hand along the edge of a wing and nodded.
"I'd much rather go to the school with you, but if you must drop me off at home, then it would be my pleasure to fly with you."

I looked back at him and just sighed.
"Im tired of taking your space, your bed. YOU should be sleeping in your bed. Id prefer sleeping on the floor or the couch, but you wont allow that..." I turned around and knelled before him, putting out my arms to him.
