The cold water hit him like a brick, as Kane dove in head first, he surfaced for air, and then took off, stroke by stroke, he saw the end of the pool, he touched that end and headed back, his body was feeling weighted in the water that he could never seem to get used to, but little by little he relaxed and found his rythym as he neared the beginning. Once his lap ws done, he grabbed his towel and dried off his face looking at the teacher with a 'Am I done now?' look.
He let the towel hang off his neck and he squatted on the side watching as the others took their turn.

Chidori clapped for him, waving and egging him on to keep going. i sighed, thanking God she was okay to come back to school. Her horrendous scar on her belly and chest were visible even from where i was perched. I sighed...wondering what Kane was thinking about. At this point, I stopped admiring him in those speedos, knowing my future... would be lonely and empty. Now I saw him... as my savior, and an old... boyfriend. my eyes were heavy, and I wanted to sleep, but knew it would be best to stay landed until this class went back inside, so I wouldnt be seen. I wanted to be sure Kane got to school... so I faught the idea of sleep and came back.

And no worries there, I don't plan on making ANOTHER page for him. That was it! Not to mention that his art, next to mine? Makes all my hard work look like crap T^T))

Kane was hunced over, picking at his nails all the while as the others finished one by one, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something..someone watching him. He looked back behind him....but there was nothing.
"It's your imagination Kane....that's it...she's.....she's gone and Risa's never coming back you should be used to that stuff by now....I mean...look at mom and dad...." He sighed and stared off at the other end of the pool...wishing that the bell would ring.

I sighed and closed my eyes. The coach whistled and now it was the girls turn. Chidori and the others stood and went to the side and all readied to jump in.
"On your mark...get set...go!" Chidori was first to jump in the water and first to reach the other side of the pool. She kicked off the side and swam back in perfect rythem, like she hadnt been out of school for a week and stopped at the end.
"Great job Chidori!" he said, looking down at her. She only smiled, and looked to kane, smiling, this time, genuinely.

Kane only vaugely heard the coach, and thinking that he'd called on him to do something, looked over at Chidori just as she was finishing.
"Oh it's just you..." He turned his gaze back and looked up...there was that tingling feeling again...like eyes on the back of his neck...but he shook it off watching a cloud shaped like Abel roll by.

[ANY... The bell rang, and my eyes jumped open. I watched as the girls jumped out in their skimpy bikins and dried off.
"Kane, did you see? I won that round." She smiled, looking down at him.
"Kane, are you alright? You dont look so well, maybe you should go to to nurse..." she suggested, placing her wet hand on his forehead.
My wings fluffed as I waited impatiently for them to go inside; only Chidori and Kane remained.

He looked up, bored.
"What?" Obviously he hadn't heard her.
"Huh? Oh......well......" He stood.
"Maybe...Maybe the nurse isn't a bad idea..." He rubbed his forehead.
"You go on in, I'll be there in a minute..." He smiled and turned back to the water watching the sun reflect off it's surface.
"I...I don't think I've been sleeping well." If at all.

[OH MY GOD I THINK YOURE RIGHT.... MUST LOOK....OMFGGGG UR RIGHT!!! *glomphugtackleglompagain* Ur the best!!!!yum...

"You weren't paying attention at all were you? Its okay I forgive you, you just look so.. out of it."
She put her towel around her body and nodded.
"Well alright, Ill see you in math then, i gotta go change anyway. Be quick about changing, before you catch cold! and Ill let the teacher know youre not feeling too well and may have gone to the nurse. See in you class." She said, and with that went inside, closing the door behind her.
I remained quiet on the roof, but still watched. I hoped he wasn't sick, like she had said...

Kane smiled and nodded.
"Thanks Chi." He said.
He looked out over the swimming area and sighed, letting his head fall into his hand.
"I must be sick.....She's not here." He thought aloud.
"There's no way...By now....she's long gone..." He turned on his heel and flopped his towel over a shoulder, heading back inside. He stopped at the door and paused.
"But if you are out here." He said.
"Risa.....whatever I did...or didn't do...I'm...I'm sorry." And with that he was gone.

I heard him, and listened silently. I closed my tired eyes and let out a deep sigh.
Should i go to him? No... what i did was the right thing to do, now, he can live a normal life, with a normal girl. And I...can defile no ones bloodline.
I looked to the sky and stood, then, on the slightest breeze, I took off, landing in the tree out back of the school, outside the nurses office window. If he would come, I wanted to be sure he was alright. It was like our...first meeting in here. I smiled, thinking back to that time.

((I have like ten pages of it all in Japanese, but I sat there and tried to translate it when I was trying to learn how to read Kanji, XDD
On a side note: I'ma keel me another Cockroach if he bothers me again. Grrr...))

Kane finished changing and threw his stuff into his locker, oh how he longed for a good fight, or something, just so that his day would feel normal....but no such luck...he headed out into the general commute and headed for the nurses's office....if anything at least it was a reason to skip class again.
"Hey." He said opening the door, he lay his things off to one side, not really bothering with any formalites...he and the nurse were all but on first name basis.

[oih gawd i love the art, thats why i want it so bad!!! damn rocahes.... i cleaned my room BTW! clean, and will be presentable for friends for tomorrows sleepover! yaoi and wii all night!!! LOL]

The nurse looked up from the desk.
"Hey Kane, go into room one and Ill be in in a minute." She went onto the computer and typed some things in.
I adjusted my weight in the tree, so i wouldnt move as much, and not fall out. I waited outside the locked window of the room from before, one.

"Alright." He smiled, Room one always seemed to be open for him. It should have been, he'd used it enough times in his younger, wilder days.
He stopped, younger? Wilder? He sounded like he was an old man.
"Geeze, This isn't going to do jack for my image." He sighed.
"Going to the nurses without being in a fight? What will everyone think of me?"

My eyes seemd to tear up as I saw him enter the room, his hair still wet from swimming. I knocked on the locked window quietly. My wings were eager for his touch; it seemed like forever since we saw one another...
The nurse came in after my knock and i ducked quickly as she shut the curtains.
She gave him a puzzeled look.
"You dont look hurt. Sick?"

Kane sat on the table and shrugged.
"I dunno..just....just can't seem to focus today you know?" There, there it was again, that itchy feeling on the back of his neck! What WAS it! He rubbed his nape as he talked about waking up early, not a normal day already, and then being on time for school, which he never was.
"And I was even worried about being late for Gym, and you know how much I hate that class, especially now when it's hot enough to swim...I went out there in my speedo for crying out loud, if that's not sick I don't know what is!" He flopped back to lay down and sighed heavily.
"Why do I feel like I need a shrink more than a nurse?"

She laughed, her heavy laugh and replied:
"Whoah, whoah, calm down sport, I know youre not feeling well. Especially having you spill out your whole day to me. I think Ill let you rest in here for this hour; get some sleep. Ill be back when the bell rings to wake you up." She pointed to the soft bed beside the window then left the room, closing the door behind her softly. I heard the door shut from outside; my ear pressed to the glass and all. I then knocked again.

"Yeah, good luck getting me out of here." He called laughingly as she left.
He lay back down and rolled onto his side, but kept hearing this...knocking?! He leapt to his feet and raced to the window, not bothering to say hello or anything, as soon as he saw Risa there, he reached out and grabbed her, pulling her inside, hugging her tightly.
"I knew it!" He said softly.
"I knew it was you out there at the pool!"

I jerked my head back as the curtains flew open quickly. My wings flopped in the frame; not having time to press them to my body from him dragging me inside.
I kept my arms at my sides, as much as I wanted to hold him... I faught against it hard.
"Yeah... it was me. I wanted to be sure you were alright..." I said softly, so the nurse didnt hear. I folded my wings neatly behind me and knew my face was turning red.
"Are you sick?" I asked.

Kane felt her stiffness and pulled back, a bit alarmed at his brash actions.
"Oh...umm...s-sorry...bout that...just...a little excited..." He looked away and turned back to the bed, sitting on the edge.
"I don't know.....I feel sick....but....I don't know...." He looked at her, his green eyes wavering.
"I guess I'm just having to deal with you being gone....what a crappy job I've done so far......coming to school on time was my first mistake...everything's just gone from there."

I smiled at him.
"Its alright Kane... it... was nice to feel your warmth... again." I watched him go to the bed and i remained standing. Our eyes met and I looked away quickly; I didnt need to fall for him... again.
"Im quite proud of you Kane. You went to school, and even to Gym class... it makes me so happy. Maybe... me being in your life was a good influence, to make you strive to graduate in a month. Then...summer." I sighed.
"Then..." i paused.
"Maybe a happy life." I said, looking out the window, my arms behind my back. My eyes, and body seemed to be at peace with it all. My face looked so soft and gentle and My feathers fluffier and shiner than usual. I even shaved my legs really good, and Im not sure why.

"I'm glad you still like me....if that's all." He smiled.
"Meh...school's the least of my worries..Chi...she's up there on the top ten...anymore of her 'advances' and I may drown myself."
Kane looked at her, and sighed.
"It won't be happy if I have Chidori to deal with everyday..."He muttered. Mumbling was the easiest way to say something that you really didn't want heard.

My soft eyes looked to him.
"I will always love you Kane. Only... a one sided love, and without you near to tell it to, or express it to, thats all. The...way it should be." I sighed.
"School should be your top priority now, its only the last month of High school, then thats it. Youre done."
I laind a hand on my wing, closing my eyes, my hair falling from my shoulder.
"Chidori will grow on you; she seems more mature now. Give her time."

He sighed.
"I doubt that..." He looked at her.
"Nothing should ever be one sided....." He groaned and leaned back against the wall.
"School....pah, I'm not worried about it at all.....I'm fine....even if my attendance record is shot....I'm sure of that." He sat there...silent and still....
"Is that what you think?" He mused.
"Do you really think I'm going to fall head over heels in love with that twit?" His voice gained a sharp tone to it.
"Somehow I doubt that, I dislike her, as well as most girls here in the school, they only want one thing...And everyone thinks guys are bad....they've never been here." He scoffed.
"Love Chidori....I'd sooner go back to running the streets."

"But they are, and...thats the way it will be..." I about faced, looking to the floor. My dreams of beind with him forever was shattered....
"I did the math.. the only way you'll pass is if youre on time for the rest of this year and dont miss any days..." The silence.
"Not head over heels, and if not her, someone else... someone that will love you, and appreciate you and respect you for who you are...and..." I paused.
"Someone you wont feel awkward loving..." I closed my eyes, my hands at my sides, my back still to him, my wings, relaxed.
"It may not be Chidori, but she does seem different... you'll see, in time."

Kane's eyes watered...just a bit.
"Risa..." He choked after she'd finished.
"Is that....is that really what you want?" He turned away and sighed.
"Fine.....if...if that's how you feel.....then....then one last kiss.....and I won't bother you again...not like I am...I couldn't."
