As soon as the maid was gone, Kane reached out...and opened the door, never thinking twice about knocking. He poked his head in looked around. When the professor addressed him, he smirked and opened the door wider.
"Yep, I'm still working on the barrel-rolls though." He stepped forward, still creeped out at the 'perfect splice' title he'd been given and looked Hita over.
"Well...you don't seem nuts." He extended a hand.
"Nice to meet you." He looked over at the professor and cocked his head.
"This one of your 'boys' you were talking about?" He asked.

"Barrel roll?" He questioned, looking over at him.
Hita laughed.
"No, I'm not nuts. Nice to meet you." he shook Kanes hand, his own hand human, then the feathers grew from his wrist and on. Hita looked to Kanes wings.
"I can see why hes a perfect specimen. His wings are the perfect size, and I dont see any other animal defects on him. Congrats Kane, youre amazingly well done. Youre the step to a perfect transformation in the splicing process." He smiled at him proudly and looked to the professor.
"Am I finished here?" he asked.
"Yes yes.. now do me a favor and show Kane here where Risa lives, will you? She is the whole reason why he did this."

Kane smiled.
"Yep, Gotta make sure to have the best exhibition at the Fair don't I? Those Planes aren't showing me up."
Kane shook hands and then lifted Hita's to look at the feathers along his arm.
"Wow....those look really white man...." He let go and smiled.
"Meh, I don't think I'm that special....as long as I can get around I'm happy." He grinned like an idiot blushing.
"Eh....yeah...just do me a favor Hita? When Risa kills me, don't leave me out there for the buzzards. Juri would be worried if she didn't at least get to bury me."

The professors eyebrows lifted.
"You.. would go to the Science fair with me..?" He hadn't even thought about taking him, because he thought he would disagree and vanish before he could even get him to go. Hita looked to Kane.
"Wow, thats a nice thing to do for him. And thanks... i keep them as clean as i possibly can."
The professor walked up to him and lay a hand on his shoulder.
"You dont realize how special you really are m'boy. You are my first success... without deformities..."
Hita nodded.
"You are the first step in the perfection of animal splicing. C'mon.. lets go."

Kane looked between the two of them.
"Whut?" He asked confused.
"Science fair?" He thought for a moment, and then sighed.
"If I don't die.....or get poked and prodded by old farts......or have the military called on me....I MIGHT think about it." He ran a hand through his hair...was the old man really serious? Was he planning to release experiments like him and Hita into the world? This soon?
He sighed.
"I still don't get it..." But he nodded and followed after Hita.
"I'm going to be so glad to see Risa after all this.....it feels like forever....how is she?" He asked quietly.

The professor folded his arms and lowered his head.
"Please, Kane, as for now, you still must remain unseen to the public, its important for your safety, and my career." He looked over the rim of his glasses at him.
"Don't let me down, Kane. Please."
Hita smiled and opened up the door and looked back at Kane as they started their walk down the hallway.
"Risa is alright, seemingly very quiet and distant to us. We've been keeping her company while you were gone, and I was keeping an eye on her for her safety. I don't think she realized how dangerous the mountains and woods could be, ya know?" He glanced back at Kane over a furry shoulder and went into Noah's bedroom; it was a mess, bed pillows and blankets all over the room, papers, photos... every which way.
"Uhm, please excuse the mess.." he walked through the tornado of debris and opened the massive window. He glanced at the clock. 12:48 am.
"Lets go." He opened his wings and took flight out the window, his arms out wide, his feathers barely supporting his weight, he flapped.

Kane scoffed.
"Please, you're talking to the guy who hid the fact that he was running contraband from his sister for a good three years, you think I'm that dumb now?" He patted his shoulder going past him.
"I'll be careful....no need to worry about me."

"She's like that at first.." He muttered, remembering that first day.
"Thanks...." He said quietly, his head hung.
"...Really." He smiled, picking his way through he debris.
"Oh this? This is just like home to me, you have nothing to worry about." He stifled a cry as his knee hit on a chair's edge, and he rolled his eyes.
"Oh yeah, just like home." Kane hopped out onto the sill and poised there for a moment, before leaping out. He stuttered there in the air a moment, awkwardly flapping, but soon he was gaining altitude, he fluttered back down to Hita and blushed, smiling.
"I told him I was still working on those barrel-rolls." He scratched the back of his head and nodded.
"Right."

The Professor just sighed, looking at them as they left silently, talking like friends.

Jita smiled, looking to him in the air.
"It took me a while to warm up to her, but she really is quite nice when she comes around." He flew on, gaining speed.
"Its about a 30 minute flight, c'mon."
[kills short post]

Kane nodded.
"Yeah, just watch out, she's a fire cracker if she gets too warm." He sighed as pumped his wings.
"She'd mess some guy up if she ever got the chance." He chuckled, and forced himself to keep pace, he'd never trained for speed, just getting himself in the air, but he was determined to keep up.

About a half hour later, they landed in a tree. Hita pointed, panting himself a bit.
"See that cave up there? She should be in there. Its late, so she may be sleeping. Do you want me to do anything?" He looked to him, with pure concern and a yearning to help and make this go as smoothly as possible.

Kane lit beside him his own chest heaving.
"Alright, no, that's okay....I.....I think I'll be alright.....but stick around for a bit?" He asked shyly.
"It's reassuring knowing someone's got my back out here." He dropped from the limbs and tucked his wings behind him, scooting through the brush. He waved back at Hita for luck and then was gone.

"Hellooooooooo?" He called at the entrance of the cave, standing just out of the mouth.
"Risa....it's me, Kane.....are you awake?"

Hita smiled at him and nodded.
"Of course. Ill be yere, just yell if you need me." As he watched Kane scoot off, he got comfortable in the limb of the tree, having a good feeling about this. He yawned wide and crossed his winged arms and closed his eyes.

"....Helloooo... Risa.." I grunted and rolled over in my sleeping bag in the back of the cave. The fire had died down, only the embers burned. A dark figure stood and went to the entrance where Kane was.
"What are you doing here, Red?" Noah said, looking down at him. His eyes then widened.
"What... did you do toi yourself?!" He whispered loudly.

"Thanks...."


Kane sneered.
"I could ask you the same thing." He scoffed.
"And don't call me Red, jerk." He fluffed angrily then smiled.
"Oh these? Just a little insurance for Risa's safety up here, why you dissaprove?"

"I am watching over Risa, and making sure she is taken care if out here, in the wilderness, where she seemed she felt she belongs..." he looked sadly back at her, her wings only visible as her back was faced to them.
He smiled at Kane as he fluffed up.
"You are so childish with them...you probably can't even fly faster than 30 MPH yet huh?" He crossed his arms.
"Leave, before I make you leave. She doesn't want to have anything to do with you anymore."

"Yeah, and in the meantime enjoying being close to her, am I right?" He said crossing his arms.
"Geeze, you're like a stalker Noah, get over yourself." Kane fluffed his wings, then they settled over his back.
"Peh, I can fly fast enough to keep up with Hita coming here." Kane's eyes narrowed.
"I'd like to see you try...." He growled.

He smiled, looking back once again.
"I enjoy every minute of her companionship. I love her." He then shook his head slowly.
"Im no stalker, you are. Youre th eon who deformed yourself to try to impress her. She left you for a reason, because it could never be. Why couldn't you accept that?" He laughed.
"Poor Hita, his wings are his arms and he can only flap so much. His max is 15 MPH. Pity. You would never be able to keep up with Risa and I" He stepped forward, shoving him out of the mouth of the cave, him falling backwards over the edge of the mouth.
"Catch yourself on that fall."

Kane felt his feet slide out from under him...they were pretty high up there at the cave...if he were normal....well..he wasn't anymore.
"Time for those barrel rolls!" He cried turning over, his wings tucked tightly against him.
The wind stung at his eyes as he fell, and then, he shoved open his wings, shooting straight up and pulling a corkscrew into the air.
"HA!" He called from his position in the air...his stomach however....wasn't as cocky as he was. Indeed...it felt sick..
"EAT IT NOAH!"

Noah stepped to the mouth of the cave and was pleasantly shocked when he saw Kane perform the barrel roll... He nodded. His wings were massive, large, and perfect. They may have even been larger than Risa's...It was his time to master them.
"OH I PLANNED ON IT, KANE!" he yelled back.
"Planned on what?"
He whipped around to see Risa... standing in her shorts and tank, her hands on her hips.

"Any reason why you keep yelling and insist on waking me up?" I yelled.
"Its 1:36 in the MORNING!"

"OH CRAP!!" Kane dove...he dove like he'd never dove before, straight into the trees, ending up acutally slamming into a trunk before he stopped completely.
"WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING UP!" He hissed to himself.
"DAMNIT! This wasn't supposed to happen..."

"R-Risa?! I'm...so sorry for waking you up, you see, there was this...crow I was trying to get away from the site and he wouldn't leave so I thought yelling---"
"THATS ENOUGH!" I yelled.
"One more outburst... one more time you piss me off.... youre done. I will never want you to come back, is that clear?" I said, jutting my face into his. He nodded obediently, his back arched back a bit from her outburst.
I stomped my bare feet on the stone back to my sleeping bag and laid atop of it, closing my eyes softly.
"Go to sleep, or go flying. Just don't keep me awake."
Noah silently nodded and jumped out of the cave into the tree he save Kane land in.
"Kane?"

"See what you did." He hissed from around the tree trunk.
"She almost saw me!" He turned and slammed his back against the tree, crossing his arms.
"That would have been just great...she'd have killed me and Juri would never find my body."

Noah saw him and folded his arms, getting comfortable on the tree limb, and securing himself on it by wrapping his toes around it (like bird).
"Isn't that why you came out here in the first place? Why else would you be where?" he sighed, looking to him.
"If youre gonna reveal yourself to her, you better do it before she goes back to sleep, or she will kill you."

He glared forward.
"That's easy for you to say.....I....I came out here....to make sure she knew it was alright to go back to school now....that she didn't have to worry....but...." He sighed, with a growl.
"Fine....you win....THIS time..." He postitioned himself on the edge of the limb and shot off, landing by the mouth of the cave.
"Risa..........Are you asleep yet? It's Kane...I....I need to....to talk to you.."

He shook his head.
"If one knows... more than one knows." He sighed, and watched him as he gracefully flew up to the ledge. He shook his head and flew out of the tree and off into the distance... he needed to think.

I rubbed my head.
"Stop playing games Noah, I'm really not in the mood..." I stabbed back, keepoing my back faced to him, I brought my knees to my chest.
That did really sound like him that time... but there's no way he could get here

"Risa....." He said.
"It's not Noah....here I'll prove it, when you first met me, you ran into the bathroom, then you were shoved out into the hall, and I almost flipped you, but I dove under you right before you landed so you wouldn't get hurt....then..when you wouldn't talk to me, I picked you up right there in the hall and carried you over my shoulder up onto the school's roof-top." He slunk back into the shadows before she decided to step out so she wouldn't see.....not yet.
