Kane waited there, he waited just outside the window, hovering with that snarky grin.
"Then come say hello....the sun might never leave, but you never know how many more suns you'll be able to see.."

He sighed, eyes closing, arms falling to his sides. The warm sun felt amazing on his skin and black wings that seemed to absorb it.
"I sleep at this time usually..." he replied softly, keeping his eyes shut. The came a holler from the hall.
"Kane, Noah, come I have your antidotes ready!"

"Then you've been missing out." He landed on the sill again, and waved.
"Come on, Ski--Noah....Sounds like we're gonna live another miserable day." He lathered on the sarcasm there at the end in case his furry friend didn't understand the joke.

He made a face and looked to him as he walked past him, his right thigh still bleeding from when his nail dug into him, he was covered in dirt and hand a puffy cheek. Boy, he wouldnt ever be hearing the end of this one from Risa. He followed him to the lad where Risa was in a small ball on a chair in the corner, fast sleep. They were up all night... it got to her. Flying took alot out of her since she didnt do it as often as she should.
The professor patted the silver table.
"Noah, youre up." Noah nodded and pushed paste Kane and sat up on the table. His legs dangled from its height, but it toe claws touched the floor just barley. he looked down at the professor, his face lit from the top he looked almost, well more demonic.

"Don't die on me.." Came Kane's whispered prayer.
"I'd never forgive myself.."

The professor pushed Noahs head upward, swabbing and prepped his neck for the antidote. He then inserted the needle into his jugular. Noahs nails scraped the table as he took a grip on the sides, he clenched his teeth, but did his best to keep his neck relaxed. His heart beat was going up, he began to sweat profusely.
"Noah, are you alright?" the professor asked him, finishing the injection and pulling out the needle. He looked to him worriedly.
Noah panted, his face grew pale and he hunched over, sweating, his bangs stuck to his forehead.
"N..no....my heart.... is racing..." he said, closing his eyes and placing his hands on his chest. He looked to Risa, then Kane, thinking back of the kiss that brought Kat back to life.

Kane took a step forward.
"What's happening Doc?" He asked his heart falling into his stomach.
Not again..

The professor robbed Noahs back, trying to reassure him.
"Noah... shh... try to relax, and let the serum take effect.." Noah head throbbed.
"My heart... it hurts..." he said, hunching over more, hiding his face of pain and the fact he was terrified.
"Let... me die..." he said softly, looking to the professor, starting to rock back and fourth. The professor shook his head, and worriedly looked to him.
"I could never let that happen. Do you feel like you're dieing?" Noah nodded.
"I could then... be at peace..." he whispered, looking to Risa sleeping soundly still. He smiled slightly, then his head fell, he continued to rock, breathing heavily.

Kane gnashed his teeth.
"Idiot." He looked over.
"Out of feeling useless, is there anything I can do?"

The professor looked to Kane and nodded.
"Risas saliva seems to be the only thing that helps. Could you wake her and let her kiss him? It... should save his life, interacting with the serum." Noahs face got redder than it was and he jolted his head up.
"PROFESSOR! How could you ask him such a thing!" He still held his stomach in pain, he breathed faster and looked to Kane.

Kane sighed.
"Look pal I don't like this anymore than you do...but.." He hurried over and shook Risa's shoulder.
"Risa sweetie, I need you to wake up for me...please?" He kept glancing back over his shoulder at Noah and furrowing his eyebrows.
"You'd better not be faking!" He warned.

"Risa... I could not ask her... to so such a thing..." she thinks im a monster as it is... The professor pulled out his stethoscope and listened to his raging heartbeat through his back.
"Shh try to relax..." he cooed him.

I was shaken awake to see Kane looking to me worriedly. I sat up quickly and looked to him, my hair a bit of a mess, and a red hand print on my face from sleeping on it.
"What is it, whats wrong?" I looked over his shoulder and saw Noah hunched over on the table.
"RISA! Please come here he needs you" the professor yelled to her. I quickly stood up and folded my wings behind me and walked with Kane quickly to Noahs side.

"Noah's not going to do it so I will, Risa....He needs...well to be blunt...he needs you to kiss him like you did Miss Kitty....seems like that's about the only thing that's going to help him accept the serum that the Doc made..." Kane took her hand.
"...Please Risa?" He begged.

My eyebrows shot up in utter shock. Kane... the man who was madly in love with me, enough to turn into a creature like me, was begging me to kiss another man. I looked to him.
"Kane... I.. of course I'll kiss him... to save his life..." My eyes lowered as my face blushed a bit and I walked up to him sitting on the silver table. The professor stepped back beside Kane and looked on in awe as I walked up to the beat sitting on the table, ashamed of what he was. He kept his head down. I stood before him, and placed a hand on his. I smiled.
"It will be alright..." I whispered to him. He was up too high for me to reach. I looked at him, lifting his chin tenderly.
"I need... you to cooperate." His face was hot and wet from sweat. He looked in my eyes, ashamed.
"Risa.. I.." his face was red and he looked away, averting his gave from mine.
"I can't do it.." he whispered.

Even after all this! Kane had had enough he moved Risa out of the way, and then with all the strength he could muster, rammed his fist into Noah's face.
"Stop trying to be a martyr you idiot!" He looked away.
"I can't stand people like you...thinking that dying would be better than what you have now....YOU'RE ALIVE DAMNIT! ENJOY IT!" He grabbed the base of Noah's hair and pulled his face up.
"You're gonna live even if I have to make you." He growled.

Noah was caught off guard as he was nailed straight in the face. I coughed and placed a hand on his throbbing cheek as he looked down at Kane in utter surprise. He winced when his hair was pulled. He closed his eyes and nodded slowly.
"Fine." He opened them half way and looked to me. I walked up to him again and waited for him to bend down low enough to kiss me. He sighed, lowering his head to meet his lips with hers tenderly. He was merely 'pecking' my lips. I grunted and pulled his head down lower into a deeper kiss, opening my mouth to push as much of my saliva into his as possible, keeping his face still, holding his cheeks. Noah... I felt his muscles go limp... I wasn't sure if it was from his weakness or the simple kiss meant to save his life.

Kane had to force himself to look away, mostly out of courtesy. He glanced over once, and coughed turning all the way around. Though, the tic in his eyebrow was starting to return.
"He'd better make it through this..." He glanced down to his knuckles.
"I owe him a lot more than THAT..." He muttered.

The professor smiled.
"This... is Noahs first kiss I believe. I think its why he hesitated." He whispered to Kane.
"He really likes her... and he knows nothing will ever happen between them. I dont know what this will do to his heart once he is saved.." he said sighing.
After about 30 seconds I pulled away from him slowly. His eyes met with mine... I was simply pushing my samiva into his mouth.. he seemed to be simply kissing and enjoying it. I smiled at him shyly, letting my hands slide off his cheeks. He closed his mouth and swallowed, trying to hide his eyes from Kanes glare. His face still throbbed, but his body had relaxed. The professor walked up beside him and lay the stethoscope on his breast and listened.

"Whatever...as long as he lives.." He looked down.
"....I'd....I'd hate to see him....you know..." He stalked over to the door and sat down on the cold tile. He hadn't had much time to think about it but now...he started to blame himself for not seeing...for not somehow senseing Hita's pain before now. He hadn't known him long, but Kane had liked him, poor quiet sod....
"You sure left me with a handful didn't ya?" He sighed.

The professor patted Kanes shoulder.
"You have a heart of gold. Dont let anyone ever tell you otherwise." he said to him as he walked off.
He listened to Noahs heart that seemed to slow to a steady pace and placed band aid on his jugular vein that was still bleeding a bit from the needle.
"I... can't believe something as simple as that worked." Noah said sitting up, letting his head fall back, his face bathed in the surgical light above him.
"I felt it all sting and tingle in my throat after I swallowed.. I cant believe it."

"Yeah, yeah.." He waved his hand over his shoulder and sighed.
"The kind of gold people want for their teeth.."

I walked back to Kane and ran a soft hand over his neck.
"Hey.. you okay?" I asked him, feeling ashamed a bit myself for having to have done that, right in front of him.
"I'm sorry.. I.. didnt really have much of a choice.. you.. you I love you..." I laid a hand on his wing and marveled at their softness; they were still coming in.

He smiled.
"Yeah...I'm fine...just...just glad....you know?" He looked over. Noah had another day, another sun.
"How about you? you alright?"

"I'm okay.. just scared there... and very over tired." I said rubbing my eyes.
The professor overheard me say that and smiled.
"Why dont you both stay here? I have an extra room in the east wing with a queen size bed, big enough for both of you and your wings comfortably. And your own bathroom, so you both can wash up." He looked to kane, covered in dirt and his leg covered in blood. Noah jumped off the table.
"We all had a long night... I think itd be best if you both stayed to rest before flying home." He said walking up to him. He reached out a hand to Kane, offering it in a shake.
"No more bad names. Simply call me Noah... truce?" He said, looking down at Kane genuinely into his eyes, smiling a bit.

He glared up, looking Noah up and down before taking the hand.
"...I still like Skinny better...but fine..." He sighed.
"NOAH, it is." He rose with a laugh and drug him into another headlock, rubbing his knuckle over his hair.
"As long as I don't have to go chasing after you anymore and letting you kick the crap out of me." He turned his glance to the professor and nodded.
"Rest...sounds good...and as long as I don't wake up to some I.Vs sticking out of me in the middle of the night...we'll be alright."
