Okay, so here's the deal:
My mom told me at 4-ish that when my dad got home in 10 minutes that she'd take me shoe and backpack shopping because school starts Tuesday, and I need both. ((I'm taking PE this year and I only have sandals, and my backpack from last year..err...one of the arm thingies ripped and came off.)) I said that it was cool with me, and then I asked where we were going. She said Sports Authority. I gave her kind of a 'yuck' face and asked if we could go to Mervyn's instead. ((Sports Authority is a sports store and Mervyn's is like a Sears or Macy's for those of you who don't have them around.))
Now, I was at Sports Authority about a week and a half ago. The ice chalet is in the same shopping center, and I stopped by there while I was picking up lunch from a nearby Target for shits and giggles. Their shoe selection sucked and I've had my heart set on a Jansport backpack for like, 3 years now. And of course, they didn't supply those either. They only had the athletic backpacks with the gazillion pockets that eat everything you put in them.
I had also been to Mervyn's about a month prior with my sister to go pant shopping, and since none of the pants fit me ((I'm anywhere from a 18 to a 24)) I decided to look at shoes, because they always have my size and they're always comfortable. I found like, 6 pairs of shoes I liked. I only had enough money for one though D:
Anyways, my mom said no to Mervyn's, and that we were still going to Sports Authority. I told her about my last visit, and she said that since school-shopping-season that they'd have it restocked and everything.
Um, no they didn't >>;
So now my mom is mad at me because I spent 15 minutes in a Sports Authority telling her "No, I don't like those either". I went up to her after looking through the isles of shoes and said "Shoot me if you want, but can we go to Mervyn's now?" She got really pissed and started for the exit. Then, as we were passing a rack of backpacks she asked about them. I looked again at the backpacks and then at the prices. The cheapest one was $60. I said "No, we can get some at Mervyn's". She practically stormed off, and then we came home and didn't go to Mervyn's.
Yea, so I told her so and she's pissed >>;

I'm so glad that all my clothes shopping and such is done myself now, because my mother was always really bitchy when I went shopping with her. I clear through the entire mall in a half hour if I can't find anything I like, and the mall where I live is two stories tall and has probably over 60 stores. Every time I go to a store with her (even now), she'll pick out this and that, and everything will be something that I can't stand even looking at and isn't my style of clothing at all. So I ended up either finding something I like and somehow getting my dad to sneak it past my mum, or we'd leave the mall and go home without me getting anything because my mum just "can't understand why I won't try anything new". For any shopping when my parents bought all my clothes for me, I always had to go with my dad and only him, or else my mum would get so pissed off, and she's definitely not one to be anywhere near for a couple of days. It's really angering.

Funny you say that actually, my mom just went up to my dad after we got home and asked him to take me shopping instead. He's really laid back about shopping, the only things he'll ever say are "Yes" "No" "Its too tight" or "Can we leave now?" If I ever have to go clothes shopping with a parent, I'd rather take my dad. Except underwear shopping xD

Haha, that's cool then.
My dad likes it when I shop, because I'm always really quick about it. My mother, on the other hand, when it's all three of us out, takes forever in one store, and has to go through every rack of clothes. Then of course, she spends just as much time making fun of clothes that are, in her opinion, ugly, as she spends time actually trying on clothes she likes. When my cousins were up here this summer (they only come up once a year), we took our yearly visit as a family to this huge mall that's a bit north of Chicago, and when my uncle saw me going through sections shopping for stuff, he said that he'll trade off and my parents can have my cousin Julie, and they'll take me. xD Julie's a really slow shopper also. My dad was always pretty cool when I just went with him, because he always understood what I wanted to wear and what I didn't from the few things I picked up. I could go into the dressing room, and sometimes he'd find a shirt that he would see on the wall or something that I'd missed and tell me I should try that on also when I'd come back out.

My mum has mastered this. xDDD She's the big shopper in the family, so everyone gets all tired out when they get back home. Usually, we're left standing outside the stores sighing and whining about how long she always takes. She'll take like half an hour and come out with a couple of nose studs! xDD Yeesh! And whenever she forces me to shop along with her, like shoe-shopping as you said, she'll point out various pairs that I turn down.
Then she gets blazing angry with me! ><" I have to tell her, "Jeeze, mum! I'm seventeen, I think I can do perfectly fine when picking out some shoes." If we want to go check out a store, the chances of her having one of her fits are four out of five, and she's incredibly impatient. xD Yet we'll have to put up with her constant perusing. v.v;;
She sucks the life out of you!

I never understand what on Earth is wrong with parents when something similar to this happens. I mean, if they listened to us in the first place, we wouldn't' be in this situation, and yet, they yell at us as if it were our fault and we choose this bad location. Parents. They always think they're right, even when they're not. I respect them and everything, but sometimes I think they get a big head from their authority.

My mom always takes us to Mervyn's and Ross to go shopping just because everything is cheaper, so I don't really have problems like this. Though I generally hate shopping and don't like anything just out of spite...
Speaking of which, I do need to get a new backpack soon...

Dang, that was so mean of your mom. :(
Why wouldn't she just take you to Mervyn's?
I haven't went backpack shopping yet and I got some shoes about a month ago.
I might need a new pair of walking shoes or something because my other shoes were slip on vans.
My 2 New Balance shoes are still in great shape so I'll still wear them.
As for my book bag, its been used for 3 years and I think I need a new one.
I might get a similar one or something... I won't know till I look.
I was planning on going shopping today but was too tired and just didn't feel in the mood.
Maybe next weekend or something.
School starts August 27th for me... I think.

Was Mervyn's to far of a drive? Maybe she was just trying to save gas?
That is some pretty expensive backpacks.
I think your mom should have listened to you though.
And why a sports place? O.o

;o My mom does the same thing, and I've tried telling her, "Storming out of wal-mart won't fix your problems." at this point she gets even madder and drives out of the parking lot doing about 80 while side standers try not to get hit and my little sister is sitting in the front seat screaming,"OH MY GOD SHES GOING TO KILL MEEEE!"

Aw yeah probably something similiar happened to me as a teenager. I can't remember a specific instance though.. *thinks*
I know she would always tell me to do things, and then I'd tell her "I'm not doing it" and then she would expect me to do it.. and I wouldn't of course. And it'd be like "Well its not like i made it any surprise!" xD

Lol, I don't think that have happened to me yet but that sucks. D:
I despise shoe shopping so bad. It take hours to find the right pair. Sometimes I would have to go to a different store because they don't have anything I like. Backpack shopping is easy. Go to a cheap store and get a good quality bag for a cheap price. =D

~shoe shopping
..Is hell. I have inserts because the arches in my feet blow, so I can only wear something if they fit into it, so that's like, half of the cute ones out the window. ; 3; I have a lovely pair of purple Springs and a pink pair of Newbalance, but the pink ones are practically falling apart I wear them so much. I'm dreading shoe shopping. D:
~backpack shopping
... Is almost as hellish as shoe shopping. Me + Backpacks= DOOM! I bought a nice one last year that only lasted a week, then another which lasted two and then another expensive one that only lasted a couple of months without showing signs of suck.
~Plus-sized pants and how nobody has them
Well, now I'm a size 11 petite, but I was a size 16 petite, so I know the trouble. It was so hard to find anything that wasn't too long. Fat and short, a lovely combo. .__.
~"I told you so" moments
My friend didn't believe me when I said I saw someone famous in the mall, but then later that week he was there again with some bodyguards and stuff and we waved. ;D

>.>;;
Anywhoo, the only I told you so moment I've ever had was with my sister, she just got her drivers license and wanted to drive so I said sure...
I told her to turn onto the highway and take the I-10 exit because traffic would be worse if we took the highway all the way home...
WE BROKE DOWN... it was so hot out and we were stuck in traffic for two hours and we RAN OUT OF GAS...I made her call her boyfriend to come fix it and told her shes never going to drive again unless her ass listens when someone tells her to turn...
SHe thought she knew it all..and now her cars all broken and has cost her almost a grand to fix...

I love shoes... so much. I bought the cutest heels ever the other day. And I was gonna buy these kick ass DC shoes but my mom wouldn't let me... even though I'm spending the money I earn... ):

I rarely need to buy a new backpack. XD
~Sports Authority
Never heard of it...
~Mervyn's
No clue what that is... XD

Love'em!
~Plus-sized pants and how nobody has them
Hahaha, sometimes I look at plus size clothing in stores and the people who work there look at me like I'm stupid... (I'm a size 1 when it comes to pants and extra small in shirts. XD)
~"I told you so" moments
Haha, have them all the time. No one ever listens to me when I'm saying something completely useful... and then when I'm right they say I didn't say it. ):

~shoe shopping: I like shoe shopping. I see a pair I like and I try them out, and usually buy them. I get shoes maybe once a year or two. XD
~backpack shopping: I haven't gone in forever since I'm in college. I've had the same one for a long time.
~Sports Authority: I like sports authority for sporty stuff like t-shirts, but not school supplies. XD
