  • I was reading the newspaper...and apparently Italy is joining China in all of these product issues. But the media probably won't bother much with it, because it's not sensational enough. People aren't going to get sick or die from it, they think. Just ripped off. Fake olive oil (canola and sunflower oil mixtures or even olive oil so inferior that it's used for lamps) are labeled as premium olive oils.

    So I was thinking about all of the "Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back" stickers I see on products. They claim that if you're unhappy with your product, you can get your money refunded. I have never done such a thing. And I have come across a bunch of products that made me wretch and think, "oh god, I spent my hard earned money on this?" O_o;; And then...I never purchase it again.

    Do you ever get a refund for a product that you were dissatisfied about? Or what about those lifetime warranties? (I have never claimed any of those either xD)

I sent back a tin of Mangos in sugar syrup, as they'd put salt instead of sugar in it >.<
They sent me 6 tins of Mangos as an apology.

That's why I get mangos alone, not in a tin.
That way it was harder for the maker to tamper with them.

o.o I don't really like mangos in the first place, but I don't really like fruits that come out of a can. They're too slimy for me to like. Dx

I just came back from exchanging a book that was in bad condition. If I don't like it, my parents usually make me go back to the store to exchange it, even if I really don't want to waste my time. Its not worth it, I say! Dx

i've always wanted to do that to every item that didnt "satisfy" me

i did do it with a bag of old doritos i bought. The chips were as stale as...as...as...jim careys jokes.
But the expiration date said it was still good. So i sent it in by mail, but i never got anything back...oh well. There goes a bad batch of doritos...they were cool ranch too! >.<(my favoritos XD )

You have to be careful when you buy things in chinatown. They scrape off the expiration dates and put on new ones. My mom used to work there and she saw the owner's children doing it. And do not buy small brand name food. You don't know what kind of ingredients they use. I'm always extremely careful when I go to China and when I shop for food. I never buy the stuff that have tons of artificial flavors. Who needs to eat strawberry flavored popsicles everyday? A lot of the small companies are poor so they use whatever they can get their hands on. But if you buy the slightly expensive items, you can see a big difference in quality. And they're not expensive if you calculate how much it is in Canadian/American dollars.

I've never returned anything to the company. I find it's a lot of hassle for something that's not extremely expensive. If it's under 2$, I wouldn't bother. Recently, I bought some apple juice from Provigo and they had been expired since February! I couldn't return them where we bought it because we own a business and they're our neighbors so we didn't want to offend them especially since they clean 70$ worth of clothes every month. Still, I got quite mad because I thought it was illegal to sell expired things! And it's apple juice for pete's sakes! How hard is it to order in apple juice. If it was caviar from India, I might understand...

I don't think I've ever returned much of anything before. I know my boyfriend's sister does it a lot though. She always seems to get crappy deals for some reason.

I never do that ^^;
I just don't see it as being... I don't know. Worthwhile? I suppose if it was a big deal - something wrong with a car, or a new television, or a computer or something - then I would, but most of my purchases fall within the $10-$30 realm. I can deal with those problems.

I've never sent back a product because I wasn't satisfied with it.

For food/personal (e.g shampoo, deodorant) purchases I don't think it's really worth my time. I don't really see the point in sending those things back, it just seems like too much of a hassle trying to package it for posting, finding out where to send it, and in some cases a waste of money having to purchase the packaging to send it. With those things I just chuck them away or let my mum have them if she's interested.

With big purchases i've never had a problem with any of my products, but if I did, I would send it back just because of the cost of the item.

I've never sent a product back, but I use the warranty deal quite often. :3 I always keep the reciepts from big purchases, and as soon as something goes wrong, I get a brand new one. : D It's great. (:

That reminds me a pack of twinkies I bought. They were nasty and disgusting. When I read the expiration date, it was way old. I'm never buying stuff from a gas station again unless its a drink lol.

My family had to send back something expensive once, and it was a royal pain in the neck, so I don't think I would ever be willing to go through all that hassle for something tiny and cheap. I think if it was anything above twenty dollars I would bring it back, just because I can't afford to waste twenty bucks x.x Well, anyway, I've been lucky and I haven't bought anything broken ever (knock on wood) so I haven't had to deal with returning things yet x.x I would feel so rude. I know it's not rude to just return a bad product, but when I imagine someone returning something it's always like, someone screaming and being rude about it. I dunno why. Bad job experiences, probably.

Thats happend with a chocolate bar my mom had once. She sent a peice of plastic found in one of the bars back, and complained. They sent her 14 bars, miuns the plastic.

One thing that always made me laugh was the cash back promise on cat litter. It reads 'Try me! You'll love me or your money back'

  • @Sun: SERIOUSLY? Cat litter? xD

    I was thinking about what some of you said about the hassle...

    One of my friends had an iPod that malfunctioned. She kept trying to fix it, but it wouldn't work. So she mailed it back, and they kept sending it back for some reason. After three times, she finally got it to send it to them and they sent one back that worked. ^^;

I had spend $200-300 on a Microsoft Zune this one time. I even spent another $30 on a warranty. It worked great and I was very pleased with it for the longest time. Then I found it broken :[ It looked like someone damaged the screen beyond all repair. So I figured since I spent so much money on it, I could return it and get another one.

Turns out the warranty doesn't cover accidental damage. Wtf! Zune can burn in hell now, for all I care. My parentals offered to buy another one, but I said no. I'm not going to waste another couple hundred of dollars. What an effing waste.. makes me mad just thinking about now, even after all these months.

The Zune is great, just treat it like a highly sensitive explosive. Because if that thing gets damaged, you're screwed =/ No matter if you buy a warranty or not.

My mother does that with food every now and again; she will take it back to the grocery store and they refund it. She mainly does it so that they know that there is something possibly wrong with that batch. ^^;

The only time it was a real issue, was when we bought grape juice for my brother and it had fermented into something alcoholic. my dad opened it, raised an eyebrow and got right back into the car XD it was 10 years past expiration! But this was at a little general store in the middle of no where. XD

I count myself pretty lucky thus far. Usually, if something goes wrong with something I bought the store will replace it. And the only thing that's malfunctioned thus far is my laptop... which was repaired. :D

y computer has tons of issues. It can't go into screensaver mode. Instead it has to be turned off and turned on again because the screensaver makes it go into a half on and half off stage where it is unusable. Sometimes it won't turnon at all for a day or two. I sent it in and the supposedly "new" computer they gave me wasn't new at all. It was mine . . . all over again D=

I don't bother to send things in anymore.

Our local store has "double price back if you're not satisfied" on all their vegetables and fruits... Mum went over there one day, and found two baskets of rotten nectarines... she just took them to the cashier, and got something like 12 dollars back... she actually made money going to the store!! They also have this thing that if you find a thing that passes its sell-by date today or tomorrow, you get it for free... a lot of the kids are always hunting for stuff like that ^^

I have used the life-time warranty on one thing I had, my headphones... They got broke, and I took them to the store to get new ones... Only thing was, I didn't get new ones.... They sent them in to the factory or something, I had to wait for three weeks, and then come pick them up at the store again, and that store has a tricky location.... They only switched out some of the parts, and now they're broken again... less than 6 months later.... I am NEVER doing that again!! I had to go three weeks without music, it was a nightmare!!!

Dearest: That's so cool! I've never heard of such thing before! xDD

And why would we want stuff for free that's going to expire soon? x_o
