I'm guilty of that.

I take a break when that happens. Gets me outside and breaks the lurking syndrome.

Aeris, it's funny that you mention that because it's been happening to me.
Like a few weeks ago, I felt like I just didn't want to post.
I mean, I could easily jump into a conversation but instead, I'll just look in all sorts of forums.
I don't know what it is...

And now, I have school so I barely go on at all anymore. x.x;

I'm a lurker. When I do go to post, I usually delete it, instead of posting.

Meh, I can't even get myself to be a super-poster when I'm questing anymore~ It's kinda sad, but I'm always nervous I'll say something stupid and start a flame war. ;w; That or I'm just not "in the mood" so to speak.

Man, I can remember when my posts/day was like, over a hundred. I can't do that anywhere at this point. DX

I freely admit it - I'm a lurker. I post often enough, but I read through many more threads than I comment on. I just tend to shy away from typing something out when I know that I don't have anything unique to say. Unless I can contribute to the conversation, I'll just read.

I try not to lurk, but it's just something that I d, I suppose. I just much rather prefer reading what other people have to say. =3 Either that, or I get shy about posting something, especially if it's in a popular thread with lots of other people in it. >.<

  • Sometimes, when I leave a forum I'm VERY active on, for a few weeks or whatever, when I come back.. I don't feel motivated to chat anymore lol. Especially if I talk to people from the forum on msn. I don't know of any cures, aside from just.. getting out there and trying to make new friends. Maybe just chat it up in a Menewsha Nation Hang out thread, so that way it will be a relaxed conversation.

I find when I chat up a storm, I fall into a pretty big lurker mode. But if I take a little breather, I always come back refreshed and wanting to chat again.

I'm a lurker. I just always have been. I'm even that way IRL. > .>
So I find it hard to really "click" anywhere.

  • Really? I'm the opposite. Usually when I get on Menewsha, I'm on for 3-4 hours, posting the entire time. Then some days.. I just don't log on. Not sure why.

I sometimes lurk on some forums at times. It's perfectly normal, especially when you have nothing to say really.

My remedy? I just click "Post Reply", type some gibberish, submit, then laugh about it and walk away. Breaks you out of your lurking shell. XD

I go through lurking syndrome way too often. XD I'm trying to get out of that mode now, so I'm hoping I can make it work out for myself. >>

I think it's working~! Slowly but surely, I'm making more replies to topics. :3

  • D8 Sometimes, I just make a reply in the post, but right after I delete my reply, I honestly don't know why I would do this. :S Probably part of the syndrome since I've been lurking more

I lurk plenty of times. When I read something and suddenly have a response for it, I may spend a few minutes trying to type it out the way it sounds in my head and suddenly loose my inspiration and give up. That happens a lot of times when the forums aren't that active. Its kind of frustrating, to tell you the truth. I want to chat, I want to make friends, I want goldies. Dx;

I've had the lurking syndrome for a couple of days now, and I really hate it. I don't earn any gold by lurking, now do I? So why do I do it?

Well, mostly because I don't feel like I have any input on the conversation. OR, I'm just too lazy to post something (this happens more often than not, sadly).

I also tend to lurk so that I don't get so caught up in posting that I forget to keep track of my modly duties. Lurking is good for me because I get to a lot of other forums, and get to see more of what's going on on the site.

But I've been a lurker a long time on Gaia, so I suppose it's not unusual that I do it here as well. XP

Yeah, lurking syndrome sucks. I have it all the time, and that was why Mene wasn't really fun at first. I was mostly worried that when I do post, people are randomly going to reply things like, "awlkerm who asked for your opinion, n00b? D<" and mean things like that.

But really, Mene's community is nicer than that. So I got over it. Sort of. xD;

I used to post a lot, but now I've slowed down considerably.

I'm rather antisocial in real life and it if hard for me to deal with people.
One negative reaction and I crumble.

I'm the same way, I find it hard to just join into a conversation, I'm never quite sure what to say. I guess sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and jump in.

Mm-hm. I lurk a lot; perhaps that's because I'm new. Because, at times, it's a bit scary, plunging into a whole thread full of regulars, if anyone knows what I mean. Also, sometimes, I just feel like...there's really not much else to be said on a topic, and I'm just content with reading what others say. Moreover, I occasionally can't find any good threads to chat in. It's weird, though, in real life, I'm usually rather outgoing.

I tend to do that a lot.
For example, on Gaia, I haven't posted in over a MONTH.
I'm not really suffering from the lurking disease on here, though, because there's more to talk about!
