Hai, I know that, I wasn't planning on it being like an animation sequence. Any number of things could've happened between then and then. The other was just to show the location she commonly came to to look into the pool. I was thinking of having an earthquake, since most sea gods are also gods of earthquakes, but iunno how easy it'd be to show or how clear it'd be to the story. Or maybe the priests there throw her in for the god to deal with her. Or maybe everyone there thinks she's a devout worshiper and always praying there, but the god knows otherwise and finally gets fed up and earthquakes/does something to make the pool swallow her up. Or she's just clumsy. D8;

Hokay, I needs to work out mergirl's story and name, and I needs your help. D8
Imma throw up a quick outline of as much as I can reason out right now. Everything in it's subject to change. xD


World:
Ancient greece? That, or an ancient civilization from higher up, like some unknown Greenland'ian one or something. D8 But I lean most towards ancient Greece, just 'cause I like the environment/props and there's plenty of mythos to have fun with. >3>

Main chara:
No name yet. She's about 19, tall, leggy, archetypically attractive. Undecided on hairstyle (though the one drawn in the headshot seems okay enough, if I get in a hurry), don't know on hair colour. She has a dress on that relates somehow to the stripes and shape of her fishie form, though. >3>

Story outline:

She goes to the temple daily, spending hours on her knees there beside the ocean god's big central worship pool. Everyone thinks she's devout and praying, all this time, but she's really just admiring her own reflection in the water.

One day, she falls into the pool somehow. I've yet to decide how this will happen and it's a point of the story that's bugging the crap outta me, so any suggestions = love. D:

As soon as she falls in, though, whirlpoolness, babeh. 8D The god's angry with her for always using his temple for admiring her own beauty. He swallows her into the ocean and condemns her to live in it until she can appreciate more beauty than just her own. That's when she gets all scaley and fishified. 83 Much to her detest for everything about herself; her hair turned to fin, soft skin made scale, her beautiful legs gone.

She has no desire to return to the surface to ask for help and have anyone see her like this, so she just keeps swimming, deeper and farther away. I think? Iunno what happens from this point on in the story, so that's kind of another problem. D: Does she eventually learn to appreciate the beauty of the sea? It seems too predicable. D8 ;

*grumbles* I think she should have a hunchback.

Anyhow... Are you still planning to invent your own gods, rather than fail with existing mythology? Cause if so, 'd say create your own like, non-existent island for it all to take place. Can have any kind of props/architecture you want, saying they took a little from all the cultures they immigrated from or saw in their travels, as well as their confused mythology that incorporates some old tales but not others. XD

I think the earth should just open up beneath her/earthquake-age, or have a large wave come and swallow her whole, pulling her back in.

It all depends on if you want to have her remain conceited and have the moral all be about her life of tragedy now as a result, like the old Aesop tales or greek myths.

xDD No getting jealous over the fish girl! She has to be pretty for the plot! xD

Hmmm... all that sounds rather tempting to do, but thinking about her in terms of marketing the story to general audiences, they'd probably want the same crap they're always fed. D: Hrmm... yet, your idea is what I favour doing. Dx Why do I always have to plan around peoples' stupidity? D:

I like the earthquake-age idea to have her knocked into the pool during the chaos of things in the temple crashing down and everything. Then it all stops as soon as she falls in and it swallowed up. <3<

I was thinking about doing that, but hmm...

Confidence in whether this is a good enough story to do wavereth.. T_T;; feels like I should have something better planned.. but I guess I probably will have more than most people, since they were just told out of the blue to come up with something and I've at least been working on her idea for a little while beforehand. Still, so many holes in what to do that I can't decide on or don't know about. ;-; ;;

Nobody ever seems to have elderly OCs. D8 Is it because artists don't be wantin' to draw all the wrinkles and junk? Probably a factor. That, and the creators can't fantasize about their OCs having hawt secks with their other OCs or anything. 'Cause, ew, oldsecks. D: ;

So, we had to draw any character we wanted to on the illustration boards we brought to class, then next class we're painting over them with an acrylic wash to make them nice and dimensional. >3> All this for Digital Illustration. xD First project's to realize that what we do in photoshop is just mimicking techniques for 'real' concept art.
