I stayed clear of the exchange on gaia. I think gaia is the reason I'm nervous of the exchange here. You get flammed for everything there. I know you don't here but it's the thought I think that nerves me.

I never went to the exchange forum on Gaia either.
I think that I bought maybe three things there in all my time on the site.

but now that the marketplace takes 2%, you're kinda forced to sell in the exchange, or lose gold

I have a habit of selling in the marketplace when I want another item
but that was when i was questing and such

my cousin is trying to sell his stuff in the exchange but he said it's really hard xP

I always just used the sell back store or gave stuff to my sister.

I use the sell back store now on gaia for most everything. And I hated selling in the exchange because you normally got bad offers. and now in the marketplace there is the tax. it all seems like a load of bull if you ask me. :/ I like the exchange here though. But I don't like that you can never find commons that you want anymore now that the sell back store has arisen XD

I don't think that the tax is really helping Gaia.

It is too bad that there are fewer commons in the exchange now.
I really like the atmosphere of Mene's exchange compared to Gaia's though.
I think that we're going to need a marketplace here soon though.

I do agree that the atmosphere here is so much better than gaia. I just wish inflation on gaia would stop rising so much and so quickly. I'm never gonna get my angelic pendent at this rate. Oh well, at least I got the anklets before they went up really high.

I don't want a marketplace here. I honestly don't the marketplace makes it too easy to cause and keep inflation going.
The tax was just stupid. They impose a 2% tax, and so exchangers added 4% onto the items they were selling in there. so not only did it cover the 2% they added on but they also gained ANOTHER 2% of what the items were worth before the tax was implemented. so stupid. :/

I don't want a marketplace either.
But Mene is getting larger and I hear more and more people asking for one.
I'm sure that many users would continue using the exchange though.
It's nice to interact with the person that you're selling or buying from.

all the people asking for the marketplace would no longer frequent the exchange. the price guide would start to get outdated because keeping up with the marketplace prices is what everyone would be doing. It's so much easier to base prices off of the marketplace instead of something that gets updated every once in a while. >.<

I dunno, I still think people would be putting in whatever items they want. I dunno. I should think better of the people here, but anyone who would be hoarding items like i know some people DO on mene would take advantage of the marketplace.

I was in the exchange earlier in the week, and saw some people looking for CI suppliers. :/ all I could think about was how horrible that is...

Like purplejesseh said, I think that the older items would still be sold in the exchange.
Usually, people want items for those rather than just pure.
I think that most of the really rare items on Gaia are sold in the exchange.

A marketplace definitely has the potential to cause problems.
But as melody pointed out, some people will cause problems with or without a marketplace.

I do think a marketplace would take away a lot of the personal nature of Menewsha. At the same time, when we get a lot of members, it's probably going to become necessary. There can only be so many visible exchange threads at a time.

I think that a marketplace is inevitable, but I'm in no hurry for it to come.
