We all have those times where we don’t agree with someone whether it be someone you’re close to or a complete stranger. Then there’s those people that overreact that you know are wrong and you can prove them wrong, but they still insist that they’re right. There’s also times where neither side is right, although they would both like to be right.

Discussion: Arguments. What type of arguments most frustrate you and how do you normally resolve them? Are you one of those stubborn people that just won’t admit when they’re wrong?

Arguments with my family frustrate me the most. I always over react or say something hurtful. I feel so horribly guilty afterwards. Not to mention, they always bring up the arguments for years afterwards.. :(

I'm definitely one of those stubborn people. I always have to have the last word. Well, at least with my sister. I'm pretty passive most of the time, but if I ever find myself in an argument, I never know when to stop...

Most of the time, any argument I have is meant to be for fun. I love arguing (ex-debater here)... And I can usually admit I'm wrong, or turn it around so that we're both right.

The only time I truly have difficulty admitting my error is when I'm arguing with really conceited people, or when the other person goes far out of their way to make me look like a moron. I can't stand admitting defeat, then, and I will beat them.

It's gotten to the point that I only 'argue' (it's just debate, for me) with people I'm friends with... Because they're fun to debate topics with and they're at least marginally intelligent. I positively despise trying to get ignorant or narrowminded people to see my point of view, at this point. Their idiocy is simply depressing.

  • Arguments with kids my own age make me mad.
Half of the time they don't even understand or listen to the point I'm trying to make.
I don't like dealing with kids.

I get extremely frustrated when someones mind isnt open to new ideas.
They invite the argument bay saying junk they KNOW will get me started, then they refuse every little thing I say.
they dont even counter it, its just... "shut up, you're wrong".

Or when people act the same way when people hear something that conflicts with their beliefs or anything else.
I mean, is it so horrible to see an argument through someone elses' eyes, if even for a minute?

I try my absolute best to avoid any type of argument.
I'm mostly a peace keeper, but sometimes I wish I wouldn't have to be that way.

Although I do argue with my mom sometimes but everythings alright.
I mean, who doesn't argue with their mom every once and a while. xD

I'm not too stubborn, and I do accept others ideas. Most of the time I always find something positive about it, not always though.

I try and keep most arguements as adult as possible :O
especially if it's with someone whom I have to deal with on a daily basis or people I have to work with. I usually don't have too many arguements because I'm a pretty laid back person but it does happen, I won't deny that.
I especially hate, hate, hate DRAMA O___O
can't stand needless bickers especially of ths internet sort.

Mostly though, as I said, I keep it pretty civilized and trying not to get to
any extreme ^^;;

Arguments with my parents frustrate me most because they never listen to reason. It doesn't matter how hypocritical or unreasonable they're being. Because they're older than me, whatever they say is law and statement I make is back-talk. Not to mention that they seem to be in denial. They blame every problem we have on me playing the computer. And if they have an argument, one of them yell at me and say their arguing because I'm on the computer too long. -.-; Ughh. Just a few more years, and I'll be in college.

One's where the person is so stuck in their view they won't accept my oppinion, even if it is misguided. They infuriate me so much. Typical examples of these, are with my dad.

I hate arguments.. period. Mostly because I tend to be the stubborn one, and I have an awful mean streak and can say extremely harsh things without thinking about it, but feeling awful right after the words leave my mouth.

I try to avoid arguments even if it means getting walked on a bit.

my arguements I normally just let the person blow off steam and calmly walk away.. I don't see the point in yelling when it will get you no where. any and all arguements frustrate me.

The arguments that most frutrates me are very very petty ones, and when you relise they are petty and try to do the mature thing by ending the argument, the other person being very childish then acuses you of being a coward or something. Its bloody annoying and pointless.
I despise arguments, especially if they are over something stupid or when people deliberatly start an argument cos they are just pissed off with something/someone else.
EG. My mother and father have a very stupid argumet about the Tv remote or something like that. so what does she do? She walks into my room and stands there untill I notice then says "Have you ever worked a day in your llife??" then if I say anything defensive or if I tell her to calm down or whatever she takes it out on me, classic projection or whatever its called. That's happned countless times, and its so pathetic. If I wasnt so angry at thier stupid reasoning then Id be laughing my head off.

OR when you say something completely normal and someone bites your head off for it "That band are cool" other person: "oh....kay..You're fucking weird =\ =\ =\ =\ =\" blah blah blah.
ETC.

I agree with the other posts in this thread as well.

When that happens to me, I just walk away and put on my headphones. XD
I don't like dealing with them, it makes me want to kick their ass.

Only my brother frustrates me, because were just as stubborn as eachother and our arguments always seem to boil down to 'that's stupid' and 'your stupid'

i always start acting like a kid around my brother...

i try to avoid arguments mostly though... but i love reading online arguments...their so entertaining

lol im one of those stubborn people most of the time. if its just because im being completely emotional (which happens once a month ish...if you catch my drift) then i will admit i was wrong a little while after the argument was over. but more often then not i will fight my point tooth and nail until the other person conceedes that im right or until they give up. normally the latter happens first.
they type of argument that annoys me the most are the ones with my mom or people close to me that go from one thing like doing the dishes to why i dont love them anymore. holy bejesis some of the leaps taken to get to the end of the argument are HUGE. but theyre normally resolved kinda quickly by explaining that its really nothing against them i just dont want to do the damn dishes right now!

My family is like that.
-le sigh-
I can't handle it.
I'm a quiet person and loud or angry tones of voice make me nervous and upset.
I physically shake.
They are loud people and don't understand.
Combine that with the fact that my parents hate each other and my life is full of screaming people who don't give a damn if they're upsetting me.
I like to take the laptop and some books and hide in my closet. If I sit on the shelf no one can see me even when they open the door. Behind my bed is a good place too.

The kind of arguments that frustrate me most are when the person in the wrong realizes they're wrong, and won't admit it - especially if it's me.

Sometimes, I annoy myself when I'm arguing, and I'm just like.. RAWR. Shut up me, you're a moron!!

But yes ^^ I try to avoid conflict when I can.

It frustrates me when they repeat the same thing over and over, and it's terribly wrong, or the consequences involved could be devastating for them.

I don't mind being wrong, not at all. It's fun to learn something, but sometimes when you're 'debating' with someone stubborn on a silly topic, it's just repetitive.

I try to avoid arguments most of the time because i hate conflict, also i know that if i do get into an argument and even if i know i am right i'll probably back down and apologise first anyway just to get the problem resolved.

For instance i'm currently having a huge argument with my parents over my chosen college course this year, i really really don't want to take the course but my parents don't want me to go into work or have a gap year, therefore i have given in and i am at the college disliking every minuite of it. The worst thing is that it is getting expensive and i have a horrible feeling that even if i try throughout the next year the end result is not going to out weigh the final expenses.

Arguments with my boyfriend tend to throw me off the most. (Luckily I haven't had an argument with him in forever.)

But when we would have them, they just keep going in circles and never end. I just come back to my senses and say we should stop because the argument is pointless and won't ever get anywhere. Then we make up and leave the whole thing alone.

Sometimes I enjoy arguments though, I tend to learn a lot from them.

As I love a good debate, I hate when it becomes an all out arguement.. to me that just means that neither person is willing to see the others side of the situation. I remember the last arguement I got into, it was with a friend, I told her I took in a stray dog, and she could not fathom why I would do such a thing... she kept saying that I should let animals be animals and they can take care of themselves..I was trying to explain that, yes while cats can fend for themselves dogs cannot, and I wasn't going to leave either types of animals out on their own in fear of what could happen to them..Luckily we left our number with the local shelter and someone called for him...He got out of their fence...but she couldn't see why I would sacrifice my time..and I couldn't see why she wouldn't ...so needless to say that arguement has put us in different perspectives then we had before... so now, becuase we can't see why the other reacts the way they do, we now have a void between us..I know it sounds petty and wierd, but that is something you have to deal with I guess, when conflicts cant be resolved.
