Hey Everyone, I was wondering, does anyone know or recommend any good DS games? I have Diner Dash, Mario Kart and New Super Mario bros, I got my DS like a Month ago so I don't have many games, but New Super Mario Bros is pretty fun, repeating the games and playing mini games and all, anyways please recommend games! :)

I've only had my DS for about two months, and I only have one DS game! XD

Anyway, I own Animal Crossing: Wild World, and I love it to death. I had the Game Cube one before, so I already knew what the game was going to be like, and both are very similar. The only big difference in both games is that in Wild World, you can connect with other people who have the same game using Wi-Fi, or from DS to DS from up to about 60 feet. That can be very fun. >w<

Right now, the only reason why I don't have very many DS games, is purly becuase of school, pluss I am waiting untill Phantom Hourglass comes out, so that I can just play that, and not have to worry about ay other games. =3

  • Well, what you would like is up to your tastes.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl are very good choices if you still like pokemon, since you can spend HOURS completing the storyline, then you can go many many many hours after it training and stuff.

Rune Factory is also good is you enjoy Harvest Moon games. Its all the fun of harvest moon with an RPG/Adventure side as well.

I've heard that Phoenix Wright; Ace Attorney is fun, but I've never tried it before.

Also, if you want to know more about a game you could always search it on google/search t on wikipedia.

All I have are Pokemon Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Super Mario 64. I'd recommend Pearl and Super Mario 64 because POTC doesn't interest me much unless you're a die-hard fan, of which I am not so that was a waste of 20 bucks.

  • OMG.
I love all the games I have for my DS which are:
Final Fantasy (whatever number, I forget xD)
    Animal Crossing: Wild World
    Cooking Mama
    Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
I haven't beat any of those games but I love them to death.
My least favorite would have to be pokemon.
It just isn't the same as the older games. T__T <//3

I've had my DS for over a year I would have to say and recently got it upgraded to the DS LITE. Which I must add is so much nicer then the cheaper, original DS. I have a few games, not many:

~Pokemon Diamond: I love this game! I live on it... well not "on" it, I'd break it... But I do spend a lot of my time playing it. I don't really get bored of it either.

~Final Fantasy 3: It's so much fun! I love how you can change your characters job status when ever you want and it's slightly more challenging then the other FF games I have played. At least in my opinion.

~Animal Crossing: Wild World: This was my very first DS game. It's a lot of fun for the first couple of months of play. But I got bored with it after a while and then I let my house get infested with roaches. Ew.

~MySims: I have not played this yet, but it promises to be a wonderful game. I'm going to buy it when it comes out.

~Harvest Moon: Again, I have not played this one but I've been told it's a good game, though a lot of my friends are going to upgrade to the MYSims when that game is out.

Well thats about it. All I can think of anyway ^_^;

Cooking mama, Mario VS Donkey Kong and Castlevania are pretty good DS games. I have them. I want more though because I've beat most of the games I have x.x; Oh! the Phoenix Wright; Ace Attorney game is fun too. I want to try that surgeon game and a few others... I can't remember the names right now... It's too early to think straight ^.^;

Mmk! Here's a list of my favorites among my DS games:

Lost in Blue
Trace Memory
Diddy Kong Racing
Rune Factory
Harvest Moon: DS
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Final Fantasy 3
Animal Crossing: Wild Word

I'm a big RPG lover, though, so if you aren't that into RPGs, or they aren't your absolute favorite, you probably wouldn't like many of those games.

  • But before you buy any game suggested by someone, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch videos of it and read about it. Otherwise it would be a waste of money. And also some people have different tastes.

These are MY opinions about a few of the games suggested so far.

Lost in Blue- I bought it, but I'm sorry I bought it. Its too hard, especially when you're constantly trying to get your health back up, tehres no time for exploration.

Trace Memory- I traded an old DS game and $7 for it. It felt like a waste of money. The 3 hours I spent beating it were fun, but it had no replayability at all.

Harvest Moon DS- Its basically a copy of the GBA game of Harvest moon, with worse controls. The controls feel like they were slapped on last minute.

I doubt it's very graphic or realistic though ^.^;

As for game purchases, I agree that you shouldn't go buy a game just because someone else likes it. I don't recommend reading reviews because that's also just some random person's opinion. Reviews are almost always wrong for me... Someone will say something is bad, I'll play it and love it... They'll say it's the best game of the year, I'll play it and hate it. ^.^; But videos are good to watch. And renting is a good alternative also. Often you can rent a game and beat if before you have to send it back... Then you saved a heap of cash ^.^;

PHOENIX WRIGHT.

Why has this not been said already in like... every post? I bought a DS specifically for this game. It's a fun mystery-solving game filled with crack, awesome, and lawyers with silly hair.

Final Fantasy III is also great. It's the original script and setup, just now with totally cute and updated graphics. It's a good refreshing corny old-school RPG that's not plagued by stereotypical emo characters.

Trauma Center is a pretty awesome game as well. It's HARD in the later levels, but it's still awesome. No you wan't have to worry about graphic intestinal images. You really barely can tell. And HOMG IT'S SO FUN. I love the stupid storyline that so totally doesn't go with the game.

Also, if you like the DDR type games, go for Elite Beat Agents. I haven't played it meself, but I hear it's an Americanized version of Ouendan, which is the only Japanese DS game that's made it to my DS. Ouendan is so fun and crackalicious, I can play it for hours and not get bored. And there is a good emphasis on CRACK.

Advance Wars DS is supposed to be terribly excellent, as well. It must be, because I can NEVER FIND IT IN STORES. Gah. I need to steal it from my friend. I'm not usually much for strategy-type games, but this one's supposed to be awesome.

I like the re-release of final fantasy for the DS that's pretty cool. So is Spyro! Yeah I only have those, sims and brain training and the latter two suck!

I agree with Alegretto's first comment.

Phoenix Wright.

I've beaten the first game, and am playing the second now. The storyline's awesome, and it's funny and odd.

Plus, you have to love saying "OBJECTION!" all the time.

Puzzle Quest - if you've ever played Bejeweled, it's a lot like that with a fantasy RPG type plot blended in. I loved the game so much that I maxed out my levels before I beat the game.

Harvest Moon DS - if you love the gameboy version, don't buy this version. It's just way too big a setting to accomplish what you need to within the time limit of a day. I'll be trading mine in soon.

Feel the Magic - this is a supercute collection of minigames where you're trying to impress a girl by hollering at her over a band, sailing around a shark to see her, flicking scorpions off her back, etc.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - I've got Diamond and I love it. It's very similar to the GBA versions, only with a few more fun features.

My favorite DS games at the moment are Phoenix Wright, and Rune Factory (they've already been mentioned within the thread, so I'm not providing descriptions).

They're a couple of the best games I've played in quite a while, actually. <3

Phoenix Wright definitely!
The ones I have and like are Nintendogs, Trauma Center: Under the Knife, Cooking Mama, Legend of Zelda, Naruto Ninja Council 3, Animal Crossing, and Wario. :D

Other suggested games include: Big Brain Academy, Pokemon Pearl/Diamond, Tamagotchi Connection, Zoo Keeper.

Feel the Magic is known alternatively as Project Rub.

I'm a bit of a console nut so i have a load of DS games (although i havn't bought one in about a year now) here are my short reviews of what i own.

Feel the magic/project rub: an awsome (wierd, funny, odd) minigame game which is brilliantly fun. One of may faves. Sertainly my fave release game

Castlevania: A cool sidescroling platform game which is a whole load of fun and is really entertaining.

Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney: Absolutly awsome game. Posably the best i've played on DS so far

Sonic Rush: Best Sonic game sinse Sonic 2

Metroid Prime Hunters: A good FPS/Platfom game. Not great but well worth a play is you like Metroid

Polarium: Highly adictive puzzle game. No Tetrus but still a good fun game with pleanty of challenge

Super Monkey Ball: It's Super monkey ball. Great fun, Rediculously hard. Although not as addictive as the other monkey ball games. Great minigames as always.

The Rub Rabbits: the sequel to feel the magic/project rub. Nowhere near as good as the first.

Wario Master Of Disguise: Not a bad game but can get boring quickly.

I also used to have Mario 64 DS and Lost in Blue but i sold both of them. Mario because i prefered the original and wasn't a fan of the stylus controls. LiB i just thought was a huge pain in the arse and was very unrewarding.

I had totally forgotten about Mario 64, and would like to second your review of it. I would highly discourage DS owners from buying it. The controls were terribly whether you were using the control pad or the stylus. It was much better suited to the Nintendo 64. It's way too frustrating on a tiny three inch screen.

The thing is that it was a game built to show off how good an analog stick was for control so porting it onto the DS didn't work for me. My friend really enjoyed it however and found the stylus controls fine.

Yeah, most of my friends had no problems with it whatsoever. I never owned a Nintendo 64 (I went from the SNES to the Gamecube about ten years later) so the controls just completely freaked me out. I'd be standing right next to a star - RIGHT NEXT to the stupid thing - and I'd be running in circles around it because I couldn't quite get Yoshi to pick it up. So insanely frustrating.

Two new game suggestions, Drawn to Life and Lost Magic. Both are RPGs, though Drawn to Life is a sidescroller while Lost Magic is more real-time battles on encounter maps.

PHOENIX
WRIGHT

best game ever, and even if it sounds boring, it's NOT!

the characters are awesomely hilarious, the story line is interesting...
and i loveeee the background music.

of course, there are other games that are pretty good...*too focused on Phoenix Wright to care much*
