Mario 64: DS was a really good one, I love the Mario Kart for the DS, and Resident Evil: Deadly Silence are some of my favourites.
Oh! Tetris DS is a must buy! It's extremely addictive!!

Let's see... I say, check out Pokemon for long term play. The Phoenix Wright games are awesome, so try those out too. Even though the story doesn't change, it's fun to replay them after a while, just because the plot and characters are so awesome. Let's see... Tetris DS, Mario Kart DS are both very good on principle. Puzzle Quest is awesome if you like those kinds of Puzzle games. Also, there are plenty of good RPGs to check out.

Animal Crossing is fun IF YOU HAVE REGULAR INTERNET ACCESS AND KNOW OF PEOPLE THAT ALSO PLAY AND HAVE REGULAR INTERNET ACCESS. Otherwise, it's fun ... at first ... but then running around, cleaning the city, etc ... it gets repetitive. It takes awhile (I played alone for a good month) but it happens.
Of course Pokemanz is the shit.
And my newest favorite, Brain Age. When you first get it, they're basically like "you're stupid, but that's okay, cos we're here to help!" And it's uber addictive from there :p

I've heard terrible reviews on Chocobo Tales, but then it's not my kind of game.
I have but lost "Hotel Room 316" it was cool while I was playing it though. I also have "Digimon Dusk" which I'm entertained by. I like the monsters a little better than Pokemon, and not chasing around some obnoxious little opponent you have to pound into submission every so often. I got a laugh at being able to rename him...but he's still really frustrating.
I'm curious though, because I bought one of the Phoenix Wright games and haven't gotten far yet: Does it use the mike? I'm not sure mine works right.

@Night: I googled Hotel Room 316 and nothing came up o: What sort of game is it?
Does anybody know of any horror titles for the DS? (There's one in the making I read somewhere but I'm wondering if there are any which are already out.)

As mentioned before, it's ALWAYS a good idea to find videos and reviews on a game before buying it. One person's favorite could be absolute crap to someone else. It's all about what you like! Here are the DS games I own, if you'd like to check them out:
MySims (More like Animal Crossing than normal Sims games, I really am enjoying it, but actually "beating the game" (getting your town to 5 stars) doesn't really take that long. Its lasting quality is the mini-games, and the fact that just because the town is at 5 stars doesn't mean everyone's happy ;))
Animal Crossing: Wild World (Just as entertaining as the GC version: Heck, this game is the reason I bought the DS in the first place!)
Metroid Pinball (Okay, so I'm a pinball nut. But this game is one of the best pinball games I've ever played. The graphics are amazing, the atmosphere is awesome, and you fight enemies/bosses - what's cooler than that?)
Mario Pinball (Fun for a while, but with almost no explanation at what you're supposed to do, I spent more time guessing than knowing what I was doing. Also, IMO much harder than other pinball games.)
Harvest Moon DS (I've never played previous HM games, so I'm not sure how to compare it; but what someone said earlier about there just not being enough time in a day to get things done does seem rather accurate. XD)
Mario vs Donkey Kong 1 & 2 (First one is made of win; it really challenges your brain -- I haven't started playing the 2nd yet, though, and the concept seems a little different, so I'm not sure how it will be.)
NEW Super Mario Bros. (MADE OF WIN. I love mario games anyway, but the new stuff they toss in this one makes it really fun!)
Burnout Legends (I'm a big Burnout fan, because it's not just a game about racing, but crashing, too! So I had to get it on the DS, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed with it. They could have done so much more with graphics and music, not to mention content.)
Mario Kart DS (Again, I got this based on my love of the others, but I was slightly disappointed by it. It could have been better.)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (A hugely awesome Mario RPG. Definitely look up info on this one, I enjoyed it immensely!)
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (The sequel to Superstar saga, and just as fun, IMO)
I know I have more, but that should give you a small list to work with. Keep in mind, those are my personal opinions on the games and like I said, its' always good to look them up yourself to make sure it's the type of game you'd like. ^_^

It didn't? @_X Thats strange...I'll have to double check and make sure I have the name right. The graphics are really interesting, they sorta look like really well drawn people cut out and dropped on the scenery, it's odd, but somehow terribly cool.
It's a mystery game, you're a retired cop who now works for a delivery agency, and you end up at this hotel to drop off a package. The owner goes through a bit to tell you that they've given each of the hotel rooms a different name, 316 is "angel", because supposedly it grants wishes.
As the story develops, you learn more about why the character quit the department, and about a connection to this place your character didn't know about before.
The questions you ask can change people's reaction, and if you get enough of them mad at you, it's game over, so you have to be careful.
I lent it to my Fiance unfortunately, so I haven't finished it yet.
