I sobbed and sat up from Alphonse. Kiri felt so distant. I didnt know what else to do or say to her. She was determined. I could now see my breath and I looked to Al then pulled on my coat. It was summer, but the air in the car was freezing. I could only hope we'd get there soon.

Armstrong stood tall and firm, he looked at the struggling boy and shook his head.
"Please be still Edward. He's a tad more interested in the homoncoclus right now, but yes, he wants to know the secrets behind that girls Alchemy. You should be interested too; she may have the power to successfully transmute human beings- maybe even limbs, Ed." He let out a huff and about-faced.
"I don't like seeing you like this, but I won't defy the orders of the Colonel. If I were you, I'd get my priorities straight. This girl is nothing to you and yet you risk your Military rank for her? Pathetic."

Alphonse looked back to Shiba when she moved from him, and then away. He didn't quite grasp what was going on..but he figured it had something to do with Kiri's fight.
"Just give her some time...I'm sure this will all blow over once Ed's back." He patted her shoulder and tried to reassure himself of what he'd said, it was hard, considering that the temperature had dropped considerably.

An hour later, mostly due to the threats on pain of death Kiri muttered every so often, the car pulled into the outskirts of Central. She smiled, so they'd put up a blockade huh? She cast a quick glance over the sandbags and sighed.
"Stay here...both of you." Without a look back, she opened the car door and moved to stand in front of it.
"MUSTANG!" She cried.
"Where are you! You promised me a 'negotiation' when I came!"

"How can you tell me to be still!? My friends and my brother are still out there." He stopped...and looked at his arm. Limbs? Shiba could....no. He set his gaze and glowered.
"I won't take the easy way out of this, my arm and leg, Al's body, they're all symbols of our Sin, WE have to carry that, WE have to find a way, not Shiba! I won't extort her skills for my own gain! AND IT SICKENS ME TO THINK YOU WOULD!"

[gawd, I can almost heared Edward yelling in that cell >.>]
I looked to Alphonse, and looked into his empty hollow eyes.
"Al..i'm so sorry i got you and your brother mixed up in my affairs..I only wish..." I sobbed.
"I only wish you and Ed didn't know about my abilities... or have even met me. You'd both still be happy and on your way to finding the cure to your bodies missing parts..." I closed my eyes.
"Please forgive me." I lowered my head. A brother's love is not one to be messed with and I felt I came between them and their dream...no their goal, to have their bodies restored.
I watched as we pulled up and I looked out the window, climbing onto Al's lap. I remained quiet, in fear Kiri and I would most likely have to fight one another if I retaliated.

Mustang stepped forward. Grinning and keeping his fingers pressed together he whipped his foot forward and stood about 3 feet from her.
"Yes, lets negotiate" He waved a finger and Havoc came forward with handcuffs and stood behind him.
"Let her go. Let the girl decide what she wants to do. Its not up to you, homonculus. It's her decision whether she wants Ed free or not."
He called Riza over and looked into her eyes.
"Tell Armstrong to wheel out the prisoner, keep him bound and locked up tight."
She saluted and ran off inside.

Riza came bounding in, panting.
"The Coloniel...wants Ed."
Armstrong nodded, fully understanding what he had to do. Swinging open the huge steel bars he walked inside, and handed Ed's shirt and coat to Riza. He then picked Ed up but his torso and slung him over his shoulder roughly, keeping the restraints on him tight.
"Lets go, and don't struggle."
Exiting the main cell, he walked up to a mobile one, with wheels and everything. He placed Edward gently on the floor of the cage and shut it, locking it tightly with alchemy, melting the lock. He wheeled him out, Riza followed behind.

Al did what he always did in these situations, he held onto Shiba as she moved to sit on him and tried his best to rectify the situation.
"Shiba, don't think like that, I'm happy to have met you, and I'm sure Edward feels the same. It's okay...everything is going to be fine in the end. Trust me."

"Not happening." She narrowed her eyes and smirked.
"If I can't have it all, I don't want any, and I've already got half. It may not be up to me Colonel," She growled, matching his gaze.
"But you ran, Shiba can decide everything once that score is settled." Kiri for once in her Half-Life, began to understand why Scar hated this man, his arrogance..everything about him. She flicked her eyes to his hand and then back to his face. She let him get in range...stupid...one move and she could be fried...or he could be drenched..it would all come down to who had the faster reflexes.

"As if I have any kind of choice at this point." Edward didn't stuggle...it would have only made things worse for him and the others, but he gripped the bars as he found himself outside, facing the wrong way in a tense standoff.
"KIRI!! Where's Shiba!?"
"She's fine...Alphonse is with her." He heaved a sigh and relaxed as well as he could given the circumstances.

I looked to Al and hugged him back.
"I'm...so sorry...Im glad to have met the both of you two too.. you both feel like family..." I snuggled my head against his chest and I heard a squeaky wheel. I whipped my head up and peeked out the window. Ed...in a cage...bare-chested and bound and looking helpless and uncomfortable. Hot.... then I felt bad for him, I wiped my tears from my eyes.

Roy saw me peek out the window and grinned, knowing what my plan was. He made the first move. He jumped up and whipped a flame past her, catching some strands of her hair in a blaze. He laughed.
"Give Up, if you dont want to be burned to death." his eyes were dark and cold, he landed and looked back to her.
"I won't lose."

As Kiri was distracted, I opened the car door and stepped out, off of Al, I still held on to his hand and I slowly slipped my hand from his. I looked to Armstrong, then Havoc. I nodded and walked forward slowly.

Armstrong smiled and looked to Ed.
"It seems this girl values you more than you think. Once she is locked up tight, I'll set you free." He cracked his knuckles and sighed deeply.
"Dont try anything rash once she is in our custody. You'll have to deal with me then, and It won't be pretty. Well.." he thought and stuck a pose.
"Maybe it will.."

Kiri jerked her head right barely dodging the flame, she clutched her singed hair and wrinkled her nose, she'd always hated the smell of burning hair.
"Funny...I was going to say the same." She dropped to a knee and clapped, spouts shot up around her, soaking her to the bone. If he did manage to get off a shot, at least she wouldn't catch fire as easily.

"Shiba...NO! Go back!" Edward waved about as much as he could, trying to get her to go back to the car. He shot Armstrong a glare and turned his frightened gaze back to Shiba.

My eyes swelled as I reached Havoc. He put the cuffs(like the ones Ed has on, the vice one, her hands are too far apart to do alchemy) on my wrists and smiled.
"Dont worry, we'll take good care of you." He was genuine and I nodded.
He escorted me up to Ed's cage and I looked to Armstrong then Havoc. Then nodded and stepped away for me to have my last words with him.
My hands shook- my heart throbbed and i found my voice finally, looking into his frightened amber eyes.
"Edward...thank you..for everything... You mean so much to me.. you and Al and I only want you both to be happy. Please...dont go against your comrades on my behalf. I'll figure something out. I'll.." I hid my eyes from him.
"I'll miss you, Fullmetal Alchemist."
I then looked up, my eyes full of tears, and into his.
"Just forget about me, okay? Your brother is waiting for you..and so is Winry."

Roy laughed and sent another flare her way, lighting the ground around her on fire, her clothes dried quickly and he snapped again and sent the flames to her body.
[gotta get back to class- ill post when i can and ill look for you tonight...]

"Shiba...." Edward gripped the bars ahead of him and shook his head, he felt so helpless, so small, and carried away with the events that swirled around him in a massive spiral.
"Don't...Don't do this...Don't sleep on this bed of nails that's left me full of pinholes." He ground his teeth and cursed under his breath.

Kiri leapt backward away from the flare.
"Damn!" She hadn't expected the water to evaporate that quickly. She stepped backward as another blaze shot straight for her and gasped as she felt her foot slip from under her.
She watched the blaze shoot over her and heaved a sigh of relief...but that was short lived, she found herslef at Mustang's feet, looking up at him. She growled and sighed.
"It would seem that you hold the field Colonel. This battle goes to you." She turned to look back to the car...and saw that it was gone, Alphonse stood only a short distance away from where it had sat, looking back at the line of dust that the driver had left.
"Coward." She muttered....but then...where was Shiba? She glanced around and then felt her heart sink as she saw her next to Ed's cage..cuffed.
"No..."

I looked to him, I brought my cuffed hands up to the bars and touched his cheeks with my hands. Armstrong and Havoc watched with caution.
"Don't worry, I'm a cat person. I don't plan to become a dog of the military. Im going to show him and hopefully he'll let me go.. so don't worry. Just.. be happy you have someone waiting for you...and that love you very much. With me gone... nothing and no one will be missing me, so don't worry so much. Youre more important than I am..." I closed my eyes and slid my hands down his cheeks and went back to my side, I about-faced.
"I'm going now. Stay safe, Edward. And please.." I turned and looked at him over my shoulder, with pleading eyes.
"...don't try to break me out. If I'm ever released, I'll be returning to East City, where I have to start my next semester in September."

He grinned and held his snap, looking down at her.
"I'm glad you finally see things my way. Now lets go..." He bent over and grabbed her forearm, hauling her to her feet.
"RIZA! GET ANOTHER CAGE AND ANOTHER STOCK FOR THIS ONE!"
She saluted and rushed inside, shoving Ed's shirt and coat into Armstrong's arms.

Edward didn't say anything, but nodded in silence...but in the back of his mind he cursed himself. What good was a Human Weapon when the power he was granted couldn't be used to help those he cared about.
Shiba...I'm sorry..." He slumped to the bottom of his cage and didn't look at her..he couldn't bring himself to watch as she was hauled off into the Military.
"I...I hope you do well in school." He finished lamely.

Kiri hung there in his grasp for a moment before turning an angry glare up to his face.
"I said you've won the battle...not the War!" She jerked her arm back and then stopped...standing there.
"But I suppose that it doesn't matter anymore.....there's nothing you can do to hurt me now....no pain that you can inflict..will shadow the feeling...of a heart that's broken." She hung her head and fell to her knees, awaiting her shackles.

Using alchemy, Armstrong made the cage open, and he picked up Edward once again.
"Up you go, this is Shiba's place now." He grunted, placing him on the ground, to sit. His legs were still shackled.
I nodded and kept my eyes away from Ed as I walked into my prison. I went in then sat down, hiding my eyes. With another light of alchemy, the cage was closed yet again.


Mustang sent a dark smile to Riza, then Kiri.
"I'd rather have you die then risk having you as a prisoner, homoncouls..." He signaled for another hoding cell to be brought out, but this one was a tank, so she could find no moisture to do alchemy.
"And if youre giving in in hopes to be with the girl, youre wrong. Youre being sent to a lab in New Hiessgart, where my military can keep a close eye on you." He slid his hand under her chin.
"Be a good girl and you won't die."

"Armstrong.." He said weakly.
"You're going to take good care of her......right? Shiba won't be hurt?" He flopped to the ground and waited to see what was going to happen..with the cuffs on his wrist and legs..there was nothing he could do.
"After this...I wonder...what will happen to me and Al?" He let his head flop back onto his shoulders and stared, squinting into the sky.

"Don't you think I know that?" She lolled her head to one side and looked away, not wishing to meet his gaze.
"I'm not looking to be placed with Shiba...I tried to gain it all...and ended up with the wrong gamble..." She let out a gasp as his hand curled roughly around her face, she tried to turn her head, but a vice-like grip kept it held in place.
"Take your hands from me." She hissed with a glare.
"I'm going to violated enough at that lab you spoke of, correct? Then leave me my dignity here." Blue darkened to purple, and her pupils slitted into thin lines.

Armstrong nodded then looked to him puzzled.
"Elric, what do you care of what happens to this girl?"
He took a deep breath.
"I don't know really the extent of this girls alchemic abilities, but they must be massive for the Colonel to want her so badly, and to kidnap you to have her... it's not like him at all. You can count on me Elric. I wont let any harm come to her." he saluted.
"I'm going to trust you...if I unlock your stocks, will you be good?" He hunched over and looked into his eyes.
"I mean it...I'll go all pink-sparkles and flex on your ass if you try anything..." He began to unbutton his shirt, keeping his blue eyes fixated on him.

Roy rolled his eyes, not wanting to understand her way of wording things. He opened the clear tank and shoved her inside and slammed it shut, locking it with a steel lock, then he snapped and melted the lock.
"At ease, soldiers, she's caught."
The other men popped their heads up and wiped the sweat from their brows. They congregated amongst themselves and began hauling the sandbags onto the back of flatbed trucks.

I sighed, seeing the events unfold between Mustang and Kiri; I couldn't help her, she did this to herself. I looked to Alphonse who seemed so alone and distant a few yards away. I sent him a reassuring smile and a wave, before Havoc started to push my cage towards the building.

Edward sighed and looked back to the Major.
"She's my friend...what other reason do I need?" His eyes were soft and wavering, as if he bordered on the edge of crying...he was helpless and it had snapped something inside him...perhaps even his will to fight. He smiled and thanked him, nodding in agreement to Armstrong's terms.
"I won't try anything..believe me."

Kiri let out a yelp as she hit the other side of the tank, smashing her cheek against the glass and cutting it open. It was subdued her alchemy..so the wound just bled. Her body unable to heal itself. With a sigh, she sank to the bottom and curled into a helpless ball.
"Shiba.." She muttered. She looked around to all the soldiers that had filed out of their positions and lay her head on her forearms. Did they hate her that much? Even though she'd done nothing to them? She supposed so...after all...no one wanted her to be born.

Alphonse waved back and only shook his head as Shiba was taken away.
"What good is Alchemy....when it can't even save those that you care for?[/quote]

He nodded and unlocked the stocks from Eds wrists then his ankals and handed him his shirt and coat.
"Get out of here, before the Colonel wants to have a word with you.." he looked to where Roy was, and he was too focused on signing papers to have Kiri deported to New Hiessgart, to even notice Ed was set free.
"Good luck, Edward." He saluted Ed then turned to walk inside, to escort Havoc wheeling my cage inside. My back was faced to Ed and the outside; my bags were left at Al's side and I sighed deeply, only having the coat and clothes on my back inside the prison.

Mustang threw the pen at the final guard before waving a hand to have Kiri carted off. He stormed up to where Edward was standing and put his hand out.
"Before that bitch knocked you out, I asked you a question. Do you remember, Edward? Or need I remind you of your duties?" He focused his dark and exhausted eyes on his face, searching for an answer.

Edward nodded, but was caught before he could make his way far from Central.
"She's not a bitch.."He muttered under his breath.
"She's at least kinder than you are." He sighed and hung his head, glaring at his feet.
"I don't remember much after Kiri hit me...please...explain once more what you were asking to your poor insubordinate Dog."
Alphonse moved beside his brother and lay his hand on his shoulder.
"What's going to happen to Kiri and Shiba?" He posed, concerned for both girls.

The city rolled by with an aching pace, Kiri looked this way and that, trying to avoid the stares of her escorts.
"Tell me..if you can...." She said at last.
"Why I am...."

Mustang whipped his head downward and glared.
"SHES AN EMPTY VESSEL OF A LIFE! A WASTE OF TIME AND SPACE! You should know that, Edward! Why are you defending her?? For all you know, she could have been involved with everything thats been going on with Scar..maybe even involved with killing that Chimera...you know.. Nina?"
He groaned and crossed his arms.
"Well, since youre cooperating, i'll let you keep your rank..for now. Im relieving you of your duties for a while. Ill send someone if I need you."

He looked to Alponse.
"That none of your concern. Your main focus right now should be looking for Scar and bringing him to me.. but I'll let him come to you..or me. Maybe word will get out that I have his pet.." he grinned evilly and about-faced.
"Take care Edward. Ill see you around."


Riza looked to the woman in the class cage and shook her head. She was told not to speak with her, so she didn't respond. She just guarded the tank as it wheeled into the back of a dark van. She sat down on a seat inside and it was slammed shut. It was dimply lit inside; now only Riza and the Homoncolucus were inside the truck.

He winced at the Colonel's words and said nothing. Nina...was a touchy subject still for both the Elrics, and neither one wanted to think about Kiri taking part in her death.
"Where do you want me to stay? He asked knowing full well that Mustang would want him as close as possible, but the thought of even being within a few hundred feet made Edward's skin crawl.
Alphonse stiffened and glared.
"Of course it's my concern! They're my friends! I don't care what you say! Kiri and Shiba--"
"AL!" Came Edward's cry.
"Let it go.....they aren't our concern anymore." He turned to walk away, Alphonse following close behind, with a final glare at the Colonel.

Kiri smiled knowingly, and nodded.
"I see...it was presumptuios of me to expect an answer....I'm sorry." Kiri lay her head onto a fist and watched as the back was shut tightly.
"I suppose..I can answer that myself...I am....because..someone created me...I am a Golem...a life with no meaning other than a given purpose...I have no purpose..therefore no meaning...no meaning...no life. A Cursed Child." She laughed to calm her frightened nerves.
"Forgive me...I'm rambling again aren't I?"

Mustang whipped a glare back at the boys.
"Go back to East City. Thats where Scar was seen last. Report to me when you capture him." He pointed to Shiba's bags.
"Do me a favor and take them things with you and drop them off at the girls school will yah?" He simply picked up my backpack and slung it over his shoulder- It held my most precious belongings and he waved, entering the building.

Riza sighed and relaxed her muscles.
"Homoncolus...an empty vessel. I dont know what your fate is...but Roy still holds a grudge against all of beings like you because of Hughes... so enjoy your breaths and such while you can. I personally, have no hate towards your kind, but I must follow orders. If he orders me to kill you, I won't hesitate." He looked into her eyes and sighed, folding her hands in her lap.
"You..were really attached to the blue-haired girl, weren't you? I could tell...she had to be close with Edward too, to want to give herself up like that." She closed her eyes as the truck started up and moved.

With a glare, Edward turned again to retrieve her bags.
"As you wish." He jerked his head towards Al, and the two started the long trek back to East City....it was going to be a long...long journey.

"An empty vessel? Yes...yes, I suppose so." Tears began leaking out the corners of her eyes and she turned away laughing.
"Shiba...was as close to a family as I could get, but....Ani--Scar...was the first to treat me like I was human...at least for a while." She wiped at her face and sighed, unable to stop them with Alchemy.
"I don't care about my fate....whether I live or die no longer matters...it's Shiba I'm worried about...she...she shouldn't have...I was so blind that I didn't even see what was happening...." She lashed out and smashed her fist against the tank. Then she turned her face and Dark Brown met Blue.
"What do they call you?....and if you don't mind....who was this...'Huges'?"

Roy smiled, looking down at me. He opened my cell door and helped me to my feet. He unlocked my stocks. I rubbed my wrists and looked up into his eyes.
He grinned, and waved for the others to leave. With a salute, Armstrong and Havoc left them alone.
I looked up at him.
"When I show you my abilities and how I do it, will you set me free?"
He simply smiled, and folded his arms.
"I don't know. Your abilities, from what I know, are astounding. I don't think I can release you, knowing how powerful you are. I don't need you using your alchemy against my military, now do I?"
My eyes swelled.
"But..I don't want to fight anyone... I just want to live my life.. I want to become an artist... and just live my life...normally. It's all my parents ever wished for me."
He sighed and ran his hand over his hair and pulled up a chair and plopped in it, laying one leg over his knee. He dragged a chair for me and I sat across from him, both of us now in the dimly-lit cell.
"You must be something special to have Ed so worked up like that...and to have him defy me? I want to know your secret. All of them."
I grimaced.
"Edward and Alphonse have been very good to me.. very kind, and I only want them to be happy and get their wish, to become normal again. I never meant to come between them, or to have been with them this long."
He simply smiled and leaned his chin on his hand.
"Well, with training and studies, I could probably help you figure out how to help them boys..."


Riza's eyes widened.
Emotion? i was told they didn't show it...
She looked away.
"That girl, Shiba, is a kind person, I can tell." She flinched at the sudden slam of the glass and she sighed and looked to her.
"Back at the lab..we're conducting experiments to make homoncoulus' into humans... hopefully our experiment will go right this time..."
She sighed and rubbed her eyes, the images of Hughes flashing back into her memories.
"Leutenant Major Hughes... was Roy's best friend... he was murdered by a homoncouls. He left behind a small child and a wife who loved him very much. Roy... seeks revenge over his sudden death and wants all homoncouls' destroyed in his honor. As for me... I'm First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye... I'm second in command under Colonel Mustang."

"Shiba.....is kind...possibly to a fault..." Kiri smiled, remembering the short time that she'd...for a moment...felt human around her...to Shiba...Kiri was as close to Human as she was.
"I see....." She let her head roll onto a shoulder and she studied the back door intensively. From the time she was found, Kiri had known about the sadness that exists in the Human Heart when they lose a loved one...she'd seen it even clearer on the faces of children.
"I suppose...that it was hard on both of them....to lose a Father..and..a Husband....I wonder if they too....hate my kind?" She narrowed her eyes and bit into her lip.
"But that doesn't give Mustang the right to Martyr Hughes in his 'Holy Crusade' against Homunculi. I don't know why he was killed....but surely this couldn't have been what he wanted."

Riza just sighed.
"Mrs. Huges and Alecia don't know what he was killed by... all they know is that he was murdered in the line of duty." She looked up at the light and leaned her back against the van.
"I just hope Roy knows what he's getting himself into with this girl..."
She slipped out a yawn and looked to her, still hunched in the corner.
"Roy isn't just Martyring Hughes...he's following specific duties as well to get rid of all homoncoulus' and the like."

The truck finally stopped and the back door swung open. Riza rose to her feet and helped wheel out the massive tank.
"If you know what's good for you, you wont resist...or they'll make it more painful." She muttered.


I looked to Roy and sighed.
"You want to know everything huh? Well I'm tired of telling everyone so, stand up and take off your clothes." I stood and started to remove mine, dropping my coat to the floor.
He sent me a stare and grabbed my wrist.
"What the hell are you doing?"
I sent him a stare.
"You want to know my secrets right? Search for your answers yourself in my head. I'll fuse our bodies as one, so you can look though my memories, and maybe I'll find what makes you tick as well.."
He groaned, and released her and I continued to undress, turning my back to him to remove my shirt.
"But why do we have to be naked?" He asked, removing his gloves.
"It's easier for me to focus on your bodies fusing than to have to worry about our clothing fusing the wrong way."
He nodded and removed his jacket, then his blue pants. He turned a bit pink and looked to her.
"I don't have to be completely naked, do I?"
I smiled at him and turned around, just in my undies and bra.
"No, just leave your shorts on. I can handle that."
He groaned and stood before me, face as red as an apple.
"You better know what youre doing... and how to make us separate again... this kind of alchemy is unheard of..." he muttered.
"Put your hands out."
He did, palms up. He looked into my eyes.
"Please...think only of flowing water, keep your mind clear, and close your eyes."
He followed her instructions and closed his eyes, pushing his clothing backward with a bare foot.

"And you're alright with him doing such? Are his wife and child happy that their Love and Father is being martyred for the sake of a massacre? As far I am aware I am the last of my kind...I have met no others like me in all this time....can you honestly look me in the eyes...and wish me dead?" Kiri made no attempt to resist as the tank was hauled out. She only smiled and licked her lips.
"Pain.......should I be worried? Should I care? I am a broken being....I have no use for Pain."

[I hope to see you tonight. I'll be waiting.]
Riza let out a long sigh and looked to her in the tank.
"I am only following orders, Kiri. Please, dont try to sweet talk me. I'm just.. following orders..I don;t wish for anyone, or anything to die... human or not.. but i will not defy Roy. I'm about the only one who doesn't defy him."
Riza just shook her head.
"After youre in the lab, thats where I go back to headquarters in Central. I..don't know what happens in these labs... but I heard its not fun."
The sun began to set on the horizon of the small town and she was pushed into a building, Riza close behind as a few men came out to take over the pushing of her tank.

I looked to Roy and clapped and touched my fingers to his palms. Ina massive flash of light, we became one. I looked to my hands, again, my scars faded. He retaliated in my head.
"This... is insanity! How did you.." he realized he could see into my memories, thoughts..everything I knew. My face smiled, as he did within and I sat in the chair and closed my eyes. My eyes...were black and narrow..like his...I had more of his features than I did when I fused with Scar.He...now knew everything, he remained silent in my head as he looked into my deepest memories.
My hair was short and dark blue.

"You have an automail foot?"
I nodded.
He made a grunt as he found what happened to my mother and father... then my automail builder.
I spoke, his deep voice overthrowing my soft voice.
"So..youre a killer huh?"
He yelled in my head.
"How dare you see my memories!?"
I only smiled and folded my hands in my-our lap.
"I won't tell Ed you killed Winry's parents..dont worry.. she is a beauty beyond belief, no wonder he likes her secretly."
He laughed.
"And thats why you never made your move on him? I just saw what you did to him in that hotel... sick bitch."
I growled and stood and yelled.
