She smiled up at Shiba.
"I know that! I helped you two!" She laughed a little and let go as Edward started to help her to her feet.
"Shiba..." She said lightly.
"I am a Bug." She smiled and clapped her little hands.
"Just like Edward said..." Mist started to form.
"I'm a Water Bug." It was gone just like that...but...it had been there....just a little...Kiri...was coming back.
She looked over at Roy as he came to help, and hissed at him again, but allowed him to take hold of Shiba seeing how Edward struggled to hold up their weights combined.
"We'll just go back to the Hotel...it's...not that far..." Edward started up the stair, holding onto Shiba, Kiri walking a bit ahead of them, clutching his jacket tightly around her.

I smiled at her and nodded.
"yes, you did."
My eyes widened as she had clapped; I had prayed she would be born a HUMAN.... I closed my eyes in disappointment, looking away.
I looked to Roy.
"Thanks for the help... and keeping you word."
He smiled, looking over at me.
"I told you i was a man of my word."

At the hotel, he gently placed her in the bed, He looked to her pocket and saw Ed's watch latched onto the loop. He would have taken it himself, but knew better than to go near a ladies belt line. He sat down at the table and sighed deeply, rubbing his eyes.
"I need your watch....if youre sure about this..." He pulled out his check book from his blue coat as well.
"I...can't thank you enough for your hard work on this... and your hard work in the previous years, Edward. I had only hoped, it would have lasted longer..."

Kiri danced inside the room ahead of the other three and raced to the window to look out while they talked.

Edward sighed, looking over at Shiba...
"I'm sure." There went his watch.
"I only became a Human Weapon for the Library acess...you should know that Colonel." He smiled and extended his hand.
"As many times as you pissed me off.....you wern't so bad." He chuckled.
"For the most part."

[LOLLLLL *NUUUU!!!!!* screams*]

I listened to them closely, keeping my eyes closed; they yearned for sleep, as did my weak body. I looked to the child kiri and only smiled; this weakness and pain was worth it.

He sighed, looking to him.
"Are you quitting because of her? Did she make you do this?" He whispered. He sat back in his chair.
"I know you needed access to the library.. you.... you kno you were a good soldier..." He wrote the check, as promised and laid it on the table and scooped up the watch, dropping it into his pocket and stood, taking his extended hand; flesh on flesh, that almost [and i dont think it did in the series..] never happend... He saluted and headed for the door.
"Ill be paying for this hotel for the week. Make sure you call me and let me know how Shiba and Kiri are doing. Take care." and with that he left.

Kiri looked back, she saw Shiba and smiled, giggling a little. Her eyes however, conveyed her confusion and fear...she was happy to be home yes....but..she would never feel truely safe with them....there was too many ties to the Military...and the man in the blue coat frightened her beyond anything she'd ever felt.

Edward shook his head.
"No. When me and Al got our bodies back, I knew then that I was done...we'd gotten the Philosopher's Stone, and that's all we'd ever wanted....we've accepted mom's death...and now we can move on to another chapter in our lives." He shook hands and pocketed the check.
"I will...." He waved as the Colonel left.
"Not." He whispered as the door closed.
"Feh...Like I'm letting you keep Kiri." He smiled.
"There's somewhere else she belongs...and it's not to the Military." He moved over to Shiba and sat on her side of the bed.
"Don't you agree?" He asked.
Kiri hopped off Edward's bed and walked over to them.
"Edward....what happens now?"
"Now.." He said ruffling her hair.
"We rest...that Transmutation took alot out of us...but....it's nice to see you again."
"I'm....I'm a little scared....all these things keep coming back to me...like...like bad dreams....but...I know as long as I'm with you two I'll be fine....right?"
"Right."

I was happy to see he was so sincere to the colonial as they shook hands and all; until the last part. I groaned.
"He was genuinely worried about us, you know..." I sighed, my weary eyes looking up at him.
"You know he wont let us keep her.... he'll send the whole miltary after us." i said.
I looked to Kiri and smiled warmly.
"How about we all rest until tomorrow; then me and Ed will go out and buy you some new clothes, how does that sound?" I smiled. With the amount Roy had given Ed, and the pocket I had, we had more than enough to last us for a while. I laid a weary hand on Ed's thigh.
"Sleeping...sounds good to me, how about you?" I said, smiling at him.
"Oh, Kiri, if you get bored, I have a book of drawing paper in my bag, feel free to draw some nice pictures... and dont go anywhere; youre safe with us."

Edward smiled and nodded.
"I know, I meant it about him not being a bad bossman, but I can't let them keep Kiri as an experiment, I mean, how could I live with myself...or more importantly, you, if I let them treat her like a lab rat?"
Kiri smiled, blushing a little as she looked down over the coat that she still wore.
"That....that sounds good.."
Edward nodded.
"More than good, sleep sounds great." Kiri, who had by that time ambled back over to where she'd staked her own sleeping area, or at least for the moment, nodded.
"Okay." She didn't know anything about drawing, but why not? At least then she woudn't get bored. She smiled at Edward and Shiba and cocked her head....her memories of them were limited at best, but...the feeling that she got from both of them..was a warm one, like Shane...it..it felt like home.

"I feel the same way, but what can we do...? We have no say? She is HIS expierement.... we can't steal from the military.. maybe if we convince him after all the tests, that we can keep her? What will they do with her after all the information is collected? I think he'd do that at least... as long as he would promise not to hurt her.." I sighed, closing my heavy eyes.
I looked to Kiri as she wandered off into her own area, and I only smiled; she wasnt mine, but now it seemed like she was a little sister, or even a daughter. I wondered if Ed felt the same. I yawned.
"You should get some shut eye... we have alot of rest to catch up on after that transmutation..."

Edward flopped down beside her and smiled, running his hand over her cheek.
"You let me worry about how we're going to get her out of here. Besides," He rolled onto his side and looked over at Kiri.
"Kiri...?"
"Yes."
"You know that when this week is up you'll have to go back with Roy don't you?"
"Nun uh." She said firmly.
"Why not?"
"I don't like him."
"What will you do when we give you back to him."
"I'll run." Her little face was hard and resolved.
"See, it won't make any difference who takes her, she'll get away somehow. Ho wmuch easier for her if she goes with us?" He smiled confident and nodded with a yawn.
"Alright, alright." He sighed and closed his eyes.
"Hope you don't mind.." He said quietly.
"But it looks like Kiri's camped out on my side of the room...."

I looked to him, still smiling with exhausted eyes.
"The last thing I want is you imprisoned for kidnapping her... ill have a talk with her and Roy and see what I can do. I... probably can appeal to her soft side, and convince her to be good," i said in a low tone to him as he lay on his side. I scooted over a bit, on the single sized bed; we were squished together, but I didnt mind one bit. I just merly smiled, closing my weighed eyes again.
"I dont mind at all, you know that..." I whispered to him.
"I love you and I want you close always."

He smiled.
"Awww, no last bit of mischief before retirement?" He pouted.
"Eh, oh well, it's better for both of us that way....I hear prison relationships never end well."
He snuggled up next to her and lay and arm over her shoulders.
"I'm glad...I love you too." He smiled through closed eyes and yawned.
"Good....." He looked outside.
"Eh...whatever it is now, Shiba."

"No mischief please... you were mischievous enough throughout your time with the military... believe me... whatever Roy saw, I saw." I puffed my cheeks to him.
I blushed as he lay his bare arm over me and I looked into his eyes, his nose practically touching mine.
"Youre never this snuggly and stuff when we're alone." I pouted, still whispering.
I tucked a hand under his chest and yawned, and soon drifted off to sleep softly.

Edward chuckled.
"Oh yeah."
He shrugged.
"I really should do this more often though....this is...nice." He yawned again and let sleep take him.

Kiri sighed across the room from them...they looked...right. She'd been waiting to see this since she remembered them in the basement...She smiled and looked over to the bag...well...if there was one thing she knew..she wasn't going back to the Mustang man....she rummaged through Shiba's bag as quietly as she could and sat on Edward's bed writing what she needed to. She'd heard what they'd said about the end of the week...and there was no way that she was going back to that dark basement with that freaky Chimera thing, and that dark-eyed man that gave her chills.
When she was done, she placed the letter on the bed and started out...then thinking again, she returned and added at the bottom.
Ps. Edward, I'm sorry, but I'll have to keep your coat just a little longer.
And then silently, she slipped out of the room and down the hall..out into the crowds.

A few hours later, rolled over, Ed's arm still over me and I let out a deep sigh. It was 9pm when I opened my eye to the clock. I picked my head up and looked to ed's bed where Kiri was before and sat up quickly, looking about the dimly lit room to find she was gone. I looked to Edward and shook him awake gently.
"Edward?! Ed, wake up! Kiri is gone!" I panicked.

Edward was jolted awake by Shiba and he nearly fell off his side.
"Wai-WHUT!?" He looked around while grabbing onto the bedclothes to keep from landing in the floor.
"What's going on!?" He looked around and didn't see Kiri anywhere.
"Huh....maybe she went to the bathroom?" He offered helpfully.

"I doubt she'd go in the dark.." I pointed to the ajar bathroom door.
I got up and quickly pulled on my socks and shoes.
"C'mon, we gotta fond her!" I panicked.
"Anything could happen to her in central! Shes a child, and its night... only God knowsx how long shes been gone..." my heart raced and ached at the thoughts running though my head... I almost forgot to put on my glasses as I found the note on the bed.
"Ed, look at this." I handed it to him.

Edward noted the bathroom with a small twinge of unease and sighed.
"well, maybe she--" Shiba handed him the note and he read aloud the note that Kiri had left them.
"Dear Shiba and Edward,
Sorry that I'm not saying this in person, but I can't stay here, I'm sure you know that as well, so I'm leaving without telling you, so that the Mustang man can't hold you responsible.
I heard what you two were talking about, and I don't want to be talked to, I don't want to go back to that room, and I don't want to stay here...you two are going to be alright, as long as you are together...I'm sure of that. When I saw you two sleeping..I knew. I'm not sure where I'll be going...so really it's not point in trying to find me, Good luck you two, and So long.
Ps. Edward, I'm sorry, but I'll have to keep your coat just a little longer."
He scratched his head.
"Huh....then if she wrote this while we were asleep...she's been gone a good two hours...there's no telling where she is Shiba."

My eyes swelled as he read the letter aloud.
"ED! Roy is never going to believe us! What are we...gonna do?" I rubbed my eyes and sat down on the bed.
"Roy... is gonna hate me..." I sobbed.

Edward sighed and moved beside her, wrapping his arms around her.
"There's really only one course to take....when the dog breaks loose...you tell the owner.."

"Great..." Edward sighed outside of the Central Office building where he knew Roy would be.
"This is going to be fun isn't it?" He looked beside him at Shiba and squeezed her hand.
"Come on, we'll be fine...what's he giong to do? Re-enlist us?"

I looked to him and squeezed his hand back, my bag over my shoulder. Hopefully he'll just let us go, and we can go back to North City... but I doubted he'd be so gentle.
"I..dont want to lose you to the military again..." I moaned to him, as we headed up the steps.

It was about 930 and Roy was on his way out of the building when he saw the two of them heading up the steps.
"Hey you two. Feeling better?" He asked, his normal clothing of jeans and a dark blue tshirt on, along with a blue base ball cap, his briefcase in one hand, his coat slung over the other.
"Shiba, whats wrong you look distraught..."
He noticed Eds coat not on him and looked to their left... and right. His brows lowred.
"Where is she?" He said through clenched teeth.

Edward chuckled nervously.
"You and me both." He said.

"Oh HAY!" He turned to wave at the Colonel, the smile fading when he realized what was going on.
"Here. Read for yourself." Edward said handing him the letter.
"We went to sleep for a few hours and look what happens....I blame poor parenting."

His eyes rapidly read the letter, his expression did not change.
"Poor parenting? Guess what, YOU two were the parents!!! Guess what?" He pulled the watch from his pocket, and handed it to Ed, shaking his hand sarcastically.
"Congratulations, youve become a State Alchemist -gain. Ill be putting a stop payment on that check. Youll get your money and freedom once you complete your final mission; be a good boy and fetch me a child name Kiri!" He shouted, his face getting red.
"But Sir-" I muttered.
"DONT BUT SIR ME! I put alot into reviving that child and I will not lose her because you two idiots were too incompetent and irresponsible to watch an 11 year old!" His voice echoed against the alleys and central building itself.

Edward's eyebrow flicked back and forth on his forhead.
"I don't think I like your implications." He glared at Roy.
He stood there silent...well, as silent as he could, until Roy yelled at Shiba...he growled low and then, tucking the watch into his pocket he slammed his fist into the Colonel's face.
"You're off duty!" He yelled.
"That doesn't count!" He stood over him from where Roy sat on the ground and sneered.
"You call Shiba an idiot again, and I'll have to explain to Lieutenant Hawkeye why you don't have any teeth." He turned and, with a sigh, walked off.
"We'll find her....but then it'll be your job to catch her! We're just bloodhounds this time."

"TOUGH! I dont like the fact that I trusted the both of you with ebing her guardians for a week and now shes gone?! How can I even believe what you both are telling me.... how do I know this isnt either of your handwriting?" He stared them down and in mere seconds his face stung and he fell into the steps, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He sat... stunned that he had done that.
"EDWARD!!!" he yelled, standing up and pushing his hand into his glove quickly, snapping and creating a circle of fire around where they were walking; stopping them in their tracks.
"Off duty huh?" He growled, walking up to the circle of flames her generated, wiping the blood off on this forearm and dropping his cap onto the ground, along with his bag and coat.
"C'mon fullmetal, its been a few years.... Now that you dont have your metal arm anymore I bet youre as puny as the wimp I think-no, that I know you are."
I huffed and clapped, and created a waterfall above us, putting out the flames and drenching the three of us.
"I dont think youll want to face both of us; Im just as skilled as Edward, if not more so. And I never had an automail arm."

"Oh really?" Edward just couldn't let this challenge go.
He looked over at Shiba and shook his head.
"Not this time dear." He said lightly kissing her cheek, he turned back to the Colonel and cracked his knuckles.
"I'd much rather see you not get hurt. The Colonel on the other hand...I'd LOVE to see bleeding out on the street." He jerked his head towards the outskirts.
"Out of the way Roy, don't want to blow up the place do we?"
