I find it rather annoying, irritating, childish, and immature when I see people speak/type in 3rd person.
Why is it popular?!
Please stop. >.<;
Anyways.

Quite honestly i Love the third person talk...
My brother Used to talk 3rd person and i found it quite cool?
But thats me, I would rather you not call a person a "Moron" just because of a way they talk.

It's just childish to me.
Very immature and what's the point?
Are you talking to someone who forgets your name every 10 seconds? :o

It doesn't irritate me, if someone want to talk in that way it's their choice.
As, I suppose, it is your choice to frequently be overly opinionated about subjects.
It's fine to share your opinions about matters, but please try and be a little less obnoxious about it in future ok?

- I've typed in third person before, but never spoken in third person. I find that rather odd, to be quite honest. o.0; I started typing in third person because Pearl got me into it. xD I never meant it seriously though, I was just making light of it. I find the morons those who think it's completely natural. :/

I'm actually a fan of third person, mainly in writing though. I rarely if ever talk using it - but sometimes when I'm goofing about I do.
Also, all because they talk like that DOESN'T make them a moron. A Good friend of mine, Valien, talks like that and he has a vocabulary that can make a dictionary cry xD.

I know a number of people, both online and in the real world, who consistently refer to themselves in the third person. I just don't notice it anymore. It's become so ingrained in who they are, that it just wouldn't be the same if they stopped. Odd little quirks like that are harmless fun.

He is the one that probably started all this xD
But anyway, people can talk in third person if they want to.
It's not really childish or immature. :|
I just do it because my name isn't Steve.
I'd never be able to talk in third person with my real name.
And you should just put up with it. Lots of stuff annoy people, but that doesn't mean you can call people names for trying to make other people feel happier.

It's fine when done for the lulz.
Like "No, no, Karen is not a crazy person!" said by someone named Karen.
But when people do it all the time, it seems like they're trying to get attention. Like if they say their name enough, you'll remember it, and if they talk differently on purpose, they'll be memorable.
But that's just how I see it.

- Not exactly one of my pet peeves. I mean, I find it a little hard to take someone who speaks in third person seriously...I do it sometimes when I'm talking to close friends jokingly. "TK NO UNDERSTAND," would be an example of a one liner I would throw out just for kicks in response to someone's comment as a "bump" in a thread. But I won't speak like that in person.
I guess they're just doing it to be cute.
I won't throw out people being able to do it though. Could be culturally defined. If I remember right, don't some really young Japanese children speak in third person? Er...maybe I'm wrong. ^^;

ln(e) doesn't know why this person is so annoyed by this. If ln(e) wishes to talk in this manner then ln(e) can do it all ln(e) wants. Nah just kidding. It's fun to do every once in a while. But I agree it is a little annoying when people do it all the time.

You are correct ma'am. A lot of people that do this, I imagine, do it because they are trying to be cute and trying to emulate a part of Japanese culture simultaneously.
As far as my opinion goes, sometimes it annoys me, sometimes it doesn't. If the person is well spoken other than typing in third person then it doesn't bother me a bit.

- ..It annoys the crap out of me 8)
Say, if you're boasting about something, saying it in 3rd person seems so much more like you're a stranger giving an "objective opinion", when instead you're saying "O I AM KEWL, YES."
I personally think 3rd person is only fine in RPs. It really gets me pissed for no reason otherwise. I'll never say it, but behind the monitor, I'll be grinding my teeth like a VERY MAD OLD LADY.
As for the cute and Japanese part... STOP IT. You are not cute, and neither are (most of) you Japanese. You use all that chan-kun 3rd person stuff- you're automatically not cute. That's right, INSTA-AUTO-ANTI-CUTE.

I do not mind this and in fact one of my best friends on here writes like that, it's just who she is and it's her personality. I'm not sure if she speaks like that as I don't know her in life but she says she types the way she thinks and that's the way she thinks..
I don't see the problem by it, they are just being themselves and having a little fun with the forums at times.. I went a full week talking in third person just for the fun of it a while back, you do actually gain more gold than using 'I' all the time and replace it with you're name and such. ^^ I stopped because after a while I kept forgetting to talk in third person.

Your awesome. lol
I don't get the whole "Oh so if I do this then I can act like a Japanese girl! :D"
What's up with the whole fascination with Japanese people?
They aren't that special.
Sure they have a neato language that I like very much but that's about it.
There are no cuter then anyone else.
UNLESS you are Japanese, and were raised to say Chan-Kun then it's alright.
But all you Fan-girls stop!

I don't see what the big deal is.
I started talking in third person before I ever considered typing that way.
Those close to me are used to me doing so occasionally.
I'll speak affectionately about myself as if I'm someone else.
Severe dissosociation.
I often wondered if I am two people.
I seem to have two personalities.
They always exist together, but they'll switch between which one is dominant at different parts of the day.
I think they are the different sides of my brain.
One is logical and cold and the other is heavily emotional and empathetic.
The emotional side is dominant the majority of the time.
My logical side hates my emotional side and my emotional side is semi-distured by my logical side. (I'm logical right now, but not fully since my thoughts are clouded by fatique)
I've wondered if I have two personalities, but if I do, one rarely is fully domiant anyway and neither is dangerous.
I've been told I don't.
I'm probably just very aware of the shift between each side of the brain.
Speaking in third person is rather normal for me and so I will sometimes type thatway.
That, and if you type in third person, people are more likely to remember you.
I don't see why people have to be so heavily-oppinionated and angry.
I've won some impressive awards in English.
Why would typing in third person make someone assume I was less intelligent?

I'm 3/4 Japanese. Does that mean I'm only 1/4 of a fangirl?
Anyway, I don't mind if others type in third person. Orally saying it is another thing for me though. I don't get super pissed off--just slightly annoyed.

Anna often types and speaks in the third person and finds absolutely nothing wrong with it. She think its a particularly fun way to type and occasionally warns people from herself as if she's another person. She finds it rather amusing. She's refused a rather snobbish person's application in that manner on a different site, quite recently.
