Now I'm not very proud of this but I am a senior in high school stuck in a freshman health class. Not because I failed but I never took the class when I was supposed to (don't know why just didn't get signed up) and all my other required classes filled up soph. and jr. year and so now I have to take it to graduate.
ok now moving on. I'm not all that bright but I have common sense and am a reasonably intellectual person, and like a good mental strain. This class is so mind numbing I think I may die.
We had to do a worksheet responding to actions with "appropriate" and "inappropriate" responses.
Ex: Your sports team is doing poorly.
a: practice more
i: yell at them.
ok so pretty easy. I was feeling particularly bitchy when I got this sheet and decided to end all of my inappropriate answers with "pee on them" some how some way.
The teacher doesn't know what she is teaching half the time (I correct her on almost all of the mental/personality disorders that get brought up mostly because I or someone I care about has them....heh) and was really pissing me off so I didn't even bother with the back side of the sheet other then "I hate this people are dumb".
the funny thing is I got 95% on that worksheet.
The kid next to me who kinda worked and tried got less then 80%.....
so talk about
Dumb teachers:
Dumb Classes:
Things in class that make you go wtf?:
unfair grading:
correcting teachers:
Jesus loving abstinence preaching teachers:
etc etc

I know a teacher who gives out A's if you have breasts or aren't a hip-hopper.
I also know a teacher who gives out A's if you are catholic and don't do anything to piss her off.
I also know a teacher who lets students get away with smoking in class. I think.
Bad teachers! Very bad! You should be ashamed of yourselves!

We have nice teachers in our school, something I am overjoyed about. I don't know what I'd do if my teachers were bad. I would completely lose interest in everything, and that would be such a waste... I am one of the few who actually like to learn things, no matter the subject, but I lose interest in no time if the teacher is off... *shrugs*

Yeah, that's what happened to me. I decided if the school system was crap, why should I try to perform any better than I have to. So I didn't. I coasted along with B's and A's when I could have been in the top 10 of my class.

I enjoy learning and being challenged. (an issue my boyfriend has with me also....) the teacher won't stand up to me EVER. if I say something she will just avoid me and she doesn't make me work. My English teacher (I have had him before and he is great) told me he knew what I could do and I had to work and I did.....she just doesn't get it. >_<;;;
I stand up to her just to see if she will put me in place and she never does....

Sorry?
I've gotten used to things being easy, I think. Since i was never challenged, I guess I don't really like hard work now. But that disappears if it's something I really like. For instance, I did nothing in precalculus because I didn't want a difficult math class. It was boring to me and it sounded hard so I didn't care.
But if it's something I choose to do and enjoy, not something I can "learn to enjoy" but something I actually do enjoy, then I don't care about the hard work.

if it was something I was really into (like history) I would have been upset. They should really have higher standards for teachers.

My health class teacher would give you a grade on if it was completed or not. So if you filled all the answers in, you got a 100%.
So the kids who tried to do it correctly and not just fill in random answers, would get bad grades.
Seriously, I wrote in there "See pages .. to .." and still got full marks for the question.

I hate the completion grading and grade curving things.
In an AP class I took last year we had a group of slackers and too save his own ass (fault with administration here) he had to curve the final.
He agreed with me that it sucks for the kids who knew it and tried but because of the way the office deals with stuff he would have been in trouble and all this crap >_>
*sigh*

Urgh. That reminds me of the lame PE/health teacher who I had in middle school. I think she was only teaching the class because she was a semester away from retiring, so she didn't want to be teaching us any more than we wanted to be learning from her.
There were a lot of jocks in that class who would get in trouble for giving her shit, but really we all gave her shit in one way or another. And to make it worse, she was overweight, so she was not exactly a prime example of health herself, which just made the whole things seem really hypocritical. Partly, I felt really bad for her, because we were unnecessarily mean to her, but also I was pissed off because she couldn't teach and it was a waste of our time.

I have to take 3 mixed level classes, which I cannot stand. The people in my home ec class need to have everything explained 10 times. The people in my gym class are alright, I suppose, seeing as the majority are all-advanced students such as myself. Reading is absolute hell. 5 kids come from basic English, and another 10 or so from below basic. I got a 100 on a very, very easy quiz and everyone was amazed.
Last year there was a girl in my health class who thought you could get pregnant by swimming in the ocean...she's not too bright, though. It started snowing and she said "Hey, look, global warming's over!" then when it stopped she was like "Oh, it's back. Nevermind." Oh the hilarity!
Also, someone last year that I sort of know turned in a social studies paper saying "I'm just going to keep writing this so that the teacher thinks I did the assingment" like 10 times. Rather funny.

@ Queen Fool: Wow. Just…wow.
I would say that it's funny, but then I think about those people someday becoming adults, and maybe even voting…
Oh wait, that's how we got Bush in the first place. >__<

XD hahaha nice Chexala
and I had a girl my 10th grade year ask me if we could use a dictionary on a vocabulary quiz. I had a girl ask me how far Coeur d'Alene was from Idaho (We live in Washington close to Coeur d'Alene so it was a no duh to us-imagine someone asking you how far Vegas was from Nevada....)
I have told people really dumb things that they think are true (Like convincing a girl the capital of Texas was Toast and thats why "Texas toast" is so popular....).....and just ya.
The scary thing is some of those people have already reproduced.....and ya...
I think there needs to be a test you have to pass before you can have a baby DX

Chexala-That explains so much...
Naiyo-I agree. There's one girl on my team at school...OMG. She thinks your spleen is in your arm (I've told her at least 3 times that it IS NOT, but she won't listen because I'm not quite sure where it is). In 6th grade she thought George Washington was still alive...and when I convinced her that he wasn't she said "Oh, well he died yesterday....of breast cancer". Sad part is, I don't think she's trying to be funny. She really is stupid.

Err.. I tend to stay away from smart mouthing or acting silly towards teachers/professors too much as it really can make a difference when things re graded at the teacher/professors discretion such as oral presentations or essays that have no real system of marking other then the whole "this student did excellent/good/okay/bad".
I do find uneducated teachers rather irritating though I try and keep it to myself and simply hand in high level work. No use teaching the class. I just need to know my stuff. :]

Rawr, I hate teachers like that. >.<
I just end up teaching myself out of the book, 'tis sad really. >.> I actually had a teacher who would put a one hundred on my paper, if I answered the questions. Why? Because she liked me, and everytime she did check my answers they were right.
Needless to say, I ended up BS-ing my work, and still getting one hundreds. x.x

I had a Geography/Economics teacher who was extremely sexist. She only liked girls. She always yelled at the boys and acted all snooty to them. The ones she liked most were her girls that were on her volley ball team [she is the coach]. And she liked me because I was in basketball in middle school in 7th grade and she was the coach for the 8th grade team, so she sort of knew me.
I had another teacher, my Lit teacher [but she was awesome, she was probably my favorite teacher] She was voted in our school newspaper as the 'most impacting on students' But one thing, was there were these kids that came into class drunk or high nearly every day! They were CLEARLY under the influence and she didn't even care! In my French class I happened to bring that up to the teacher and he just laughed and was like, yep that's Mrs. Hughes for ya.

When I hear about teachers like the ones mentioned in this thread, I feel that the worst teachers I've had are no where near as bad, although once I swear, I thought one of my teachers had a crush on me... :?

I love classes like that; I get to direct my attention towards classes that actually matter. n_n
I had an english class last year...
This was a Junior class.
We USED to do work, and she'd grade it rather weird.
I answered a question and got a 70 on it because I "didn't talk about the subject". My friend read through it and confirmed that it had all to do with whatever we were talking about. A slightly religious person alluded to God and something holy, and got a 90%. D:
Later on in that class, though, we did nothing. I mean, NOTHING.
All the projects I didnt do, all the work I forgot about...
I still got an A, no matter what.
I got up, sat in a corner, nestled myself between two file cabinets, and read all period.
And got an A.
D:
