I think they should start making them too big for our size, wouldn't that be a happy day to go shopping ^_^

  • I definitely agree. I like Old Navy's sizes, though XD. There I was about a six, now I'm about a four (no, I didn't deliberately lose weight or anything, I just found that I was giving myself a little too much room) and they seem to be pretty consistent. I have a pair of LEI's, however, that are like... a 9 maybe. And the store only sells up to 13 :/ which is a complete crock, seriously, it's bull crap. Companies preach that people don't need to be so focused on being thin, then this is the way they market thinness.. it's just so disgusting, honestly.

Yeah they do make it disgusting, considering I bet 90% of the people who are here chatting are a nice healthy size and they can have the power to make us feel overweight? Makes me sick and sad at the same time. I know the size shouldn't have the power to make me feel like i've gained weight but it does and it's silly because it's almost a type of brainwash..

  • In modern commercial society, I'd say it is a brainwash. Like a more underhanded form of what's shown in "Josie and the Pussycats".

I, ah, don't need small clothes. I generally wear around a size 10 in jeans in the brand that I normally get because they're the only ones that at least sort of fit my thighs. My thighs are just too big. Well, I sort of like them, but that doesn't make finding jeans that fit any easier.

Oh god, I have gotten to where I hate buying pants. I wear a size 7-9 (depends on the pants) and most of the time, every time I got to a store all I can find are 0-5's.

It is about the same way with shirts. I buy a large shirt, get it home, and it still feels like I'm wearing a medium, not because I'm big, but because the shirt are shrinking to the point that it's a pain to find one that isn't going to show your belly button. >.<

On the plus side, I realized that I wear a size 2 dress instead of a 4. LOL

No, sizes are actually getting smaller. It's not just you.

I work at Sears, being that I do I put out clothing a lot.

Sometimes you get some brands that are "vanity" sized clothing, meaning that they'll show a size that is smaller than that actual pant.

For instance, you're a size 12, it'll be marked size 8.

Those are more in your Misses section. Making you think you're smaller than you really are, making you buy more clothing. It's all marketing.

But a lot of the Juniors clothes are smaller than the real size. Like, you have a size 10, and it should really be a size 12.

Haha, I've probably gained some weight, but it's good to know that I can always blame it on size deflation. It's half true for me anyways, what used to be a size 8 is now a size 10 or even 12, and I didn't gain that much weight...at least I hope not.

I am good. ^^
Lol I was happy to find out that I needed a smaller dress than I thought.
Last year in choir I wore a 4, now it's a 2. XD
But then it's a different kind of dress, so that may be why. >.>

  • I've been a size zero for years. x3;

    I've been skinny all my life, and I can't gain weight. But yeah, I was surprized that there are so many zeros. :c I used to get stared at for being so skinny, but not any more. <3 (That's a good thing for me!) I feel bad for people who aren't zeros, though. ;; It used to be SO hard to find a pair of jeans in my size that FIT. Now I get them in my size, but there are so many to try on and only a couple fit or look good. @[email protected];;

Kinda odd, but I have noticed that pants size have been going down. I mean I have a friend who can wear like size 1-2 and she's look like a flippin' stick. But she eats more than me. For me, no way can I fit in pants that small. D: I'm not overly weight, I've lost some, and I'm happy about that, but who would want to fit in size 0's? That's just sick.

It seems to me that they are changing the clothing sizes but I think they are raising them. I know that I have gained some weight in the past couple of years but my clothing size has not changed. I think they are expanding the sizes to go along with our expanding waitlines. Maybe it's different with junior sized clothes.

I can't eat when I'm too frazzled or stressed. and so, I rarely eat lunch anymore, becaus I'd have to eat at school.

I'm somewhere from a 7 to and 11 (10's and 11's are normally rather big on me though, so I tend to go for the smaller sizes). I feel HUGE and have trouble finding pants. It's really odd, because I'm a totally healthy weight.

well maybe the shops will change it back if they realise that their profits are decreasing because they don't have people's sizes.

  • It's called vanity sizing; sizes are getting smaller but the clothes are actually getting BIGGER. For example, you might pick up a pair of size 0 pants but they might actually be about a size 3. Brands do this to make people feel better about their size, because if bigger people think they are slimmer than they are, they will be more inclined to buy the article of clothing that makes them feel like they are skinny.
    It's really just bullshit.
    Five years ago I was a size 1-3 at 5'5" and 110-115 lbs.
    Now, fluctuating at around the same weight I was at that time and two inches taller, size 0s rarely even fit me because they are too big. :|

Yeah, I noticed that too. I normally wear a size 5 and I couldn’t even fit into a lot of size 5’s when I went shopping the other day. I haven’t gained any weight or anything either so it’s not because of that. If anything, I think they should make sizes bigger. Who actually wears a size 0 anyway?

You guys carry 0-1s in you area? Those are the only ones I fit into (otherwise, I get that thing with the belt that makes me look like I've got a package under there)! But they never have them here. I guess because the other size zero-to-three girls buy them before I can, so that only size 4-15s are there. I haven't gotten new pants in over 3 years because of this. I only have 3 pairs that fit me now.

My family jokes that they'll offer me a bit of their sizes so that I can fit into a size four. I should switch with my sister, because all the clothes I want are in her size, and all the clothes she wants are in my size.
