So I've been seriously considering purchasing a Corset, I've found the one I really want, only problem is that it is very expensive, course it's hand made and with the finest material. So it would be worth the money, but I don't have the money yet to buy it. :( The one I'm looking at cost around $350 USD.
I love the idea of corsets and how they help obtain a beautiful hourglass shape (which I lack big time! I'd say I'm more of a pear than and hourglass).

I’ve seen some really pretty ones, but personally I would never wear one. I’m just not comfortable in that kind of clothing. It doesn’t help that I’m flat chested too so I don’t think they even look right on me.

- Mmmm yes, yes, yes. I would wear one if I had one but right now I can't really afford it.
My friend just bought a real one, she's always wanted a corset and she finally got her order the other day. I've yet to see it though. She's going to have to wear it at home and stuff for some weeks before she can really start making it tight around her though, so that she won't break/bend anything.

Actually, there was one I really liked at that did cost around that much too. Well, I don't think I would like actually wearing one, so I'll probably just get a corset-style top and alter it.

I love them. Especially if they're lacy. :wink:
The amount I'll spend really depends on how nice it is. Because I still grow a lot [late bloomer], so it's annoying.

The look pretty and all, but no thanks I prefer to breathe. Plus there's no way I'd drop that kind of cash on one. I'd rather buy and few shirts and pairs of shoes and I could have a week full of new outfits to wear!

I do wear corsets sometimes and I have two of them
I paid about 100 apiece for them.
They're uncomfortable as hell so unless you're willing to go through pain and not being able to breath. I wouldn't get one XD

I'd be willing to give one a try. I already have that shape somewhat (maybe a little too much on bottom XD) but I look much better in clothes that flatter an hourglass body. This isn't to say I have a nice figure, but a corset might help.
I wouldn't wear one regularly though since I think it'd be too uncomfortable after an extended period of time.

I wear corset-style outfits, but they don't actually fit. I don't have that shape--I used to a bit, but not so much anymore. I'd probably be willing to wear one--but I don't care enough to go through the effort of strapping myself into one every morning.

If it's uncomfortable, I'm not going to wear it. I hope that corset technology has evolved since the olden days when women would faint reguarly.
However, I've always liked the style of corsets. They just seem extremely elegant to me; maybe becuase you only see them on people with an elegant or graceful air in the media, or gothic-looking girls, whose style I've always been fond of.
O___o; How do chiggers fit into this discussion?

I wear corsets on a few occasions through the year. I own one in Renaissance style, and another that was made from the patterns of the Civil War. If you find a competent tailor, you shouldn't have to pay nearly that much. $80 can buy you a perfectly good one. $150 can get you one that will last all your life.
I don't know what you guys are talking about when you say they're uncomfortable. If you have it fitted correctly, made and adjusted for your body, it should be a thousand times more comfy and supportive than a bra. I'd wear a corset everyday if I could. They aren't meant to suck in the fat at all - They align your back, support your chest, and cut down on any abdominal pain you might have. It's only unhealthy of dangerous if you begin to wear them at extremely young ages when your bones are still soft. Then you really on them too heavily, and can't support yourself without one.

As Elizabeth Swan once noted, you must learn not to breathe if you want to wear a corset. And as she showed later on by falling into the water, its dangerous to be wearing a corset. And beyond that, to be realistic, it'd hurt and I'd struggle for air, and its not worth it for me. xD

I have worn a corset before. They can be uncomfortable, but I like them. They do make your back extremely straight. I've always wanted one though. Hmm, I saw some girl wearing one on a motorcycle. I love corsets personally. I think you should save up the money and buy it. ^_^ That is if you definately sure that its made from good quality material.

^ But that's just the Hollywood, stereotypical, damsel-in-distress view of a corset. Don't believe everything that comes out of Disney. ;)
Trust me, women aren't stupid. They wouldn't keep a piece of clothing in fashion for so long if it caused them so much physical pain. Corsets were only dangerous to young girls, or to women who suddenly forced themselves to wear ill-fitted pieces when they weren't used to it. If you get a corset adjusted for your body, and you keep the size and shape appropriate, you'll be golden.

- I. Love. Corsets. I don't wear them 24/7 but I wear them often. Not so much to keep a shape, but for the fact I like how it feels to be in one xD.
I also have a few really pretty bustiers/outter corset's that actually look really nice and don't pop out like "IN YO FAYCE", but still makes the waist look really nice xD.

I love corsets. *-* They're beautiful. I've worn the fake ones, like ones you can get and they don't actually squeeze you smaller. Corsets are interesting. If you're going to get one THAT expensive, you better get it fitted specifically for you own body. It can really damage your ribs if you don't get one just right for you. ;-;

I wouldn't wear a plain corset by itself out in public. (I'm too young to, anyways :P)
But I would wear it under my shirt so that I could look skinnier! 8D
But I wouldn't want to pay for it. :/
I dont really care whether I have it or not..it would just be nicce to have it around for those lazy fat days to wear so you don't show it. I geuss.
Just my opinion. ^^;;

I love corsets and I have learned the history of corsets. In fact much of beauty in history was about pain for woman and other times it was not. Corsets worn to tight are dangerous and some times deadly but worn proper they were beautiful and meant to bring someone a little sex appeal without being totally slutty. Today corsets are worn by so many people and I love to own one but I don't. If I do I want one that is more expensive and produced well. Something real instead of ones you can buy at Hot Topic. That is why I may go to South Street in Philly to pick one up at one of the offbeat stores there. I may get a good deal for a nice one. :)

- *laughs* Not for me. I have a really straight, boyish figure. So boring. >_>; Anyways, I honestly...actually don't like stuff, besides underwear, being too close to me. I'm used to wearing baggier or loose clothing. I feel like I'd be suffocating.
Some are pretty though...

I do as well but I found that it might be nice to wear one especially to a Halloween party or to a club. ^^ But I do prefer my jeans and t-shirts.

Corsets can hurt when you're not used to them restricting your breathing. They may be beautiful but they're bad for a person who wears them everyday for years. It can end up reshaping your ribcage if you're not careful.
That being said, I saw some very beautiful ones at the rennissance faire this weekend. I didn't get one though...I thought they were less expensive than they were, turns out what I thought was the price was actually the size. XDDD They were about $300. I opted for a bodice instead. Less expensive, more aestetically pleasing in my opinion. <3

I don't know what they're like these days but I heard that in the past people who wore corsets a lot eventually squished their guts out of place...or something. I think they look nice, but I don't think I'd wear one.

XP I don't like wearing corsets very often because you have to stand and sit and even bend over gracefully all day and I like to slouch and sit like a boy. I don't wear them at all, anymore, actually, because I think dropping a ton of money on one item of clothing is ridiculous now. XP Broke college kid ;-;
