I found ants in my kitchen yesterday ... it's the first time we've had bugs in the house, and I have no idea what to do with them.

So far, I've just been spraying the ones I see with glass cleaner.

Bugs in your house and what you do to them, I suppose.

I need some tips too. At one of my houses, they get through via the kitchen outlets. We have to clog them up with dish towels and various other things.

UGH, I hate it when ants get in my kitchen. They always seem to visit at least one on the hottest days of summer when I just don't want to deal with them.

I heard they don't like baby powder as well, but glass cleaner should work better. If you aren't you should try using Windex. :3

I remember my grandma telling me, a while ago, that if you can find the ant hole, you can pour a pot of boiling water down it and they'll leave.

I might switch to Clorox cleaning stuff; it has bleach, and it seems a bit more lethal.

Ahh~ When there are critters in my house...

depending on the insect, I tend to get a plastic cup and trap the critter under/inside it. xD;;

I hate smushing bugs and I hate looking at them more. xD;; So I trap them until my father or brother get home so that they can dispose of it? xD;;

But if it's a big bug...I get freaked out and I attempt to throw things at it. ; O; xD;;<3

Ants are really the only things I'm worried about, just because they seem to like to bite me a lot more than most bugs do. D;
Spiders and crickets and stuff are fine, though.

My mom actually really likes crickets. > >;

All the other big bugs get eaten by the geckos everywhere, though. C:

Ants and grasshoppers are starting to invade my house. The ants come out even when we don't leave any food out, and I'm just amazed they keep coming even after I spent hours murdering them in the millions. We have no real idea against the ants, I just get a rag and wipe them up.

@the_anna135: We do that too, sometimes.


Once, my mom had no choice but to vacuum them all up there were so many. I think killing so many little lives is horrible, but what choice do we have?

@ Montgomery - As if I would purposefully kill them if they did the right thing and got out of my house willingly??

@the_anna135: I didn't mean it that way, but regardless, I apoligize. I was just commenting on the subject of getting rid of ants as a whole.

Which is even more annoying, because, forgive me if I'm wrong but I haven't taken Biology, flies don't exactly have a "nest" that they go to and from all the time with food.
But then again. Flies don't bite.
It could be worse. Houston and its insane fire ant and mosquito problem, our kitchen could be infested with much more... /painful/ bugs.

Flies are SO obnoxious.

I was in Utah for the last two summers, and the whole house was filled with them.
It was ... scary, though, at night.
They'd all land on the ceiling and crawl around like that.

And the house didn't have any cleaners with chemicals in them, so I had to try and use this organic stuff.
D;
It didn't really work, but I got some people to help me swat at them.

I think there were so many because that particular town had a lot of cows and horses and the like.


I would rather have flies than fire ants and mosquitoes, though.

Personally the worst bug run in ever was the two black widows that crawled up through the drain in the bathtub. x___x; I'm severely scared of spiders and I start getting panic attacks when I see them. xD It's pretty pathetic, but yes. I do. Anyways, I haven't used that bath for 4 years. D: When I try to I get paranoid and start freaking out like, "OH GOD THEY'RE IN HERE."

Well I got told sugar kills them. So try sugar. Our get some ant killer. Thats what we did. you need to find the ant hole then put that stuff there.

I never leave my doors open.
It changes the temperature that I'm used to, and it either gets too cold or too hot.

I'll try to convince my mum to get some ant killer, though. It seems like a better idea than using up all the cleaners. :'D

OH! We have such an ant problem. x.x We find where they come into the house, then block the hole / fill it with that putty stuff used to sealed windows. XD So they die in there and can never come out. 8D

I, being a fruit-addict, eat piles of watermellon, apples, grapes and bannana everyday and I'm a lazy person so I usually leave my fruit skin or peel or whatever on the counter beside the sink and let it pile up until its garbage day, where I finally bunch everything up into a bag and throw it into the trash. This results in attractive millions of fruit flys..and they never seem to die. o 3o;;
I thought they only lived like..a few weeks or days! They live like, a freaking YEAR! D<

We spray all the ones we see with glass cleaner until they are dead, clean them up with paper towels, then tape up the gaps they came it from. xD

Then spray bug stuff around the house. :D

Yikes, I would freak out if I had ants in my house. We get a lot of spiders inside where I live (my basement must have hundreds of them, but it's not insulated). The sad part is that even if you decide to "save" the spider by throwing it back outside, most of this can't live out in the weather an will die anyway. In other words, you really aren't doing them a favor.

Two words: Bug spray.

Ants are icky. They come in our house every year and ATTACK. I mean, I sleep on the couch sometimes, right? And they BITE and sting me all over while I sleep ;-;. One morning I thought I had broken out into hives because of it, but it turned out I was just stung all over. -shiver.- Icky. ;-;.
