Haha, they're called sugar ants. They're probably there because you've left food out or something. Clean up your kitchen and wash everything down.

I hate ants in the house, especially the ones that bite. :( Ants chased me out of my bed at one point because they bit me in my sleep... needless to say, I had lots of red itchy bites the next day.
The ants in our house are bascially gone now though. Those old black ant traps seem to work strangely enough. We used so many different types of products and methods to get rid of those ants, and finally the thing that works are the small generic black ant traps. XD

I had the ant problem this summer. We just kept up our bugspray, smash, and trap attack.
I also walked into my kitchen once to see a bunch of larvae crawling around. Turns out my sister left out meat for the dogs, and nobody cleaned up the remainders (I didn't even know that was there, I just gave them dog food in the other bowl).

Having had way to many bug problems from living in basements or out in the boonies i Give you this.
Ants Your can either kill them with grits . Leave some lying around they will eat them and then explode as the grits expand in their body and kill them. ( this requires some sweeping cleanup afterwards but words great)
Or You can use vinegar, it messes with thier antenna and they will avoid it at all costs. ( i've actually herded ants into traps by using vinegar to block off all ways but the path to it)
Make a vinegar and water soloution and wipe everything down with it. in a few days they should go away.
Fruit flies drown them in shall pans of sugary liquids lile pop or beer mixed with a bit of dish soap. also they will stick to fly paper. Most importantly get rid of their breeding source.
spiders lemon pledge, spiders taste with thier feet and they hate the taste of this stuff. they use it in movies to herd spider and i've used it myself and noticed a difference ( spiders run from this but sit and let me spray windex on them)

You know, I actually had like .. deep cleaned the kitchen the DAY before I started seeing them. I think I would've remembered seeing them while I cleaned, but I'm positive that they weren't there.
It took me so long to clean that damned kitchen. D;

Ewww, i hate bugs in the house :'p
In my first apartment, we got ants. My roommate was a total slob, so that didn't help. At first, i sprayed them with 409, and that helped briefly. Then i went out and got my RAID OF THE APOCALYPSE. Which i love and swear by today. They never came back :'3 It also kills spiders, mosquitoes, flies, and probably smallish children and dogs. Very effective. Discontinued, though :'(

Ew! D:
They got in our house too! I think they'd made a nest somewhere, my mum bought loads of different ant killer things, a powder one ended up working in the end.
Luckily they are only downstairs in kitchen corner in this house - In my old house they used to be everywhere in my bedroom, crawling up my bed, all over bathroom floor, with the giant winged ones too which were DISGUSTING and they looked really weak and just crawling slowly and dying everywhere, it made me sick! >.<

Somehow, the topic title reminds me of PANIC! At The Disco...
Anyways, ants. Disgusting little bastards, but they're living creatures too. And they're not exactly as wretched as humans...

Kill the bugs! Kill them! D<
My house had a terrible ant infestation this summer and they're darn near impossible to get rid of. They were those little tiny black ants and I couldn't set my food or drink down for five minutes without having those nasty little beasties swarm all over it.
The best way to keep the ants at bay is to put all your stuff in seal-tight containers or bags and clean up immediately after you have cooked or messed around with food in your kitchen. However, if you have any artificial sweeteners, dump a little bit into a place where an ant can get and let them take it. The ants can take no nutrition from the sweeteners so it slowly kills them. :3

Alli...clogging your kitchen recepticles with things other than a plug is a fire hazard.
As for your ANTS! in the kitchen problem, if they are in fact coming through the outlets, which I don't think they can without getting fried, make a square ON THE WALL around the outlet with Vaseline. The ants get stuck. Try not to get the vaseline on the recepticle cover in case it smears over the holes and shocks someone.
Also try sprinkling baby powder in window sills and on the threshold of your door. The ants don't like the smell.
