I was bored to say the least, and I started writing. This is why I'm not allowed to get bored.
Young Love
Bree and Danielle
âHey Bree?â
âYeah DanielleâŚ?â
âI⌠I think I love youâŚâ
Thatâs how it all started. Thatâs how my life changed. One minute Iâm a perfectly normal sixteen year old girl, the next Iâm sent spiraling into a world where I donât know whatâs right and whatâs wrong. A world where gender has no meaning and love is a feeling that canât be explained. Iâll go back to the beginning, back to where it all began.
I sighed quietly, running my hands through my short hair. Life was going down the tubes again. I was failing almost every subject in school, and my best friend was moving. My best friend! Do you know what thatâs like? Iâm sure you donât...
âHey Bree!â Speak of the Devil⌠I turned, laying my eyes upon my best friend. She was two years younger then me, but already four inches taller. She wore a grin like no other, though I knew she was in more pain then I was. Along with failing just as many classes as I was, her parents were getting divorced, and she was moving.
âHey Danny⌠whatâs up?â I forced on a smile, trying to look as if nothing was wrong. I quickly ruffled my hair, before taking my hands out, making an attempt to look as casual as I could.
âAwh⌠you know, the usual.â She laughed softly, plopping down at the picnic table beside me. The usual? That generally meant her parents were fighting and the teachers werenât helping. I knew everything there was to know about Danielle. We had been friends since the day I moved into town. That was over twelve years ago.
âI hear you⌠So, are you doing anything after school today? We could go out to the lake and skip some rocks. Just like old times.â I watched as Danny flashed a grin. That was a smile any guy would drool over.
There were so many differences between me and Danielle⌠I sometimes wondered why we were the best of friends. I was tall, sure, but at fourteen, Danielle was bordering on six foot. I was still only five eight⌠an impressive height none the less. Danielle was skinny as a rail, and freakishly athletic. I hated sports and wasnât exactly âskinnyâ. Sure, I wasnât an unhealthy weight⌠but it wouldnât hurt to shed a few pounds.
Then there were our similarities. Both of us had bright blue eyes, as well as blond hair with the undersides dyed black. We had done that a few years ago, for a gag, and it just seemed to suit us. We were both pale as ghosts, and our generally black attire didnât seem to help our complexion.
âWell⌠I could always stay home and listen to my parents bitch at each otherâŚâ Danny put a finger to her chin, thinking. I nudged her in the ribs with my elbow.
âOh yeah, Iâm so sure youâd want to do thatâŚâ I rolled my eyes and we both started to giggle. âSo, meet you after school by the back door?â
âIâll be there.â
