I posted an aqua thread on gaia, but haven't got much response. So I wanted to know if anyone here had read it.

I just read volume 1 and I think it's very pretty and cute. It reminded me of Kaleidostar a little bit in that there are no villians, no sex, nor violence. I love the concept of boat rowers on a watery mars... And president Aria is so cute @.@ haha... Also, my favorite part of this volume was the one about the Kingdom of Cats.

I haven't read the orignal Aria or seen the anime but I want to now <3.

summary from ANN:
Quote:
April 3rd, 2301. After 150 years of terraforming, planet Mars has become very aquatic, with water covering over 90% of its surface area, hence it has been renamed to 'Aqua.' A young girl named Akari Mizunashi arrives the Aquarian city of Neo-Venezia, an exact replica of the old Italian city of Venezia (Venice), hoping to become an Undine, female gondolier and tour guide. After landing her job as an intern at Aria Company, she works hard to sharpen her skills, makes new friends, and tries to adapt the laid-back lifestyle at Aqua."

Actually, so far as I can tell Aqua is the original. Aria is the sequel (though it runs for a lot more than two volumes). In fact, there are a couple of flash backs in Aria that are just copy/pastes of scenes from Aqua, they don't make a lot of sense if you haven't read Aqua (which happened to me because the people who were translating Aria at the time didn't have Aqua).

But AURGH! Tokyopop is making me so angry right now! When I first heard they had picked up the series (the previous company had dropped it) and that they were also putting out Aqua I was so excited! So I bought the two volumes of Aqua and waited eagerly for them to get to Aria 4. It never happened, volume 4 should be out but is impossible to get and then 5 was supposed to come out and I put myself on the waiting list but it looks like that's not coming out either. And they're doing the same thing with another slow paced and very pretty series I was getting into. *Frustrated sigh*

Have you watched any of the anime? It's beautifully animated with very appropriate music, I'm going to save up a little and see if I can buy one box set at a time. (And hopefully if I show an interest in the anime they might start putting out the manga again).

I love the Aria/Aqua series. It's very peaceful.

Although Tokyopop IS being awful with it. I was crushed because when ADV had it, I got hooked. But then the dropped it. I was so happy with TP picked it up and released Aqua. Except now I'm stuck nearly where I was with with Aria and ADV. *sigh*

The art is beautiful and even though it's not action-packed, it's still thoughtful and optimistic.

Ohmigish! I just watched the last episode of the last series of the anime: Aria the Origination! I cried so much! TT__TT It's just so beautiful and had a perfect ending and I loved it and it's oooooooover! *Bawls all over her computer* I just really enjoyed the ending but I don't want to spoil anything. Now if only Tokyopop could get the rest of the manga to me so I could read it too!

But yes, I will have to buy the anime series now, I can't just not after this. Plus I still don't know what the dubb is like. *Looks forward to it*

Edit: OMG! I just checked and volume 4 is now available! I just special ordered it and it should arrive in a week! Thank you Tokyopop!
