-Unknown Victim-
By Lunawisper Sayles

One cold, October Night, the skys were clear, and the moon was full...Three girls were at home waiting for their parents to get back home from a party...The oldest was watching the news as her two younger sisters were playing with dolls in the other room...The oldest had heard that a Severe thunderstorm was headed where they were, yet she payed no attention to the warning...
'Just a thunderstorm? Heh...No big deal.' were the only words to pass through her wandering mind as she sat there on the couch. Standing, with a sudden concern, she left to check on her sisters who had been unusualy silent...Opening the bedroom door, peaking inside, she discovered that the two of them had fallen fast asleap. A smile formed on her lips as she closed the door again, then grabbing the remote to shut the TV off. She left for the computer and opened a word processer to type up a short story or two.
She had gotten the climax in her story, the major turning point that could change everything., but then suddenly the power immedietly went out in her house, blackness surrounding her...
"SHIT! There goes my english homework!" she swore and cussed at her computer, letting out a torrent of colorfull vocabulary which would cause a nun to faint...Wondering if the power was out elsewhere, she carefully crept to the phone and called her friend....But the phone had failed to work on her the last minute as the life left the phonelines...The girl cried out in anguish before calming down and resolving to light a couple candles which were in her kitchen...Finaly finding and lighting up the blessed wax sticks which carried the glow and bounty of light, she set them in the livingroom and fetched a radio from her bedroom. Quickly screwing the knobs into alignment so that the unintelligable words could become clear in the fog of the static, she carefully turned the volume up slowly, but leaving it still a tad faint so her sisters would not stirr from the bedchamber...She listened to the news once more.
"Downtown, there was a whole system of wires, crucial to supplying power for uptown Riversville...So the northern half of Riversville will be without power for tonight. In other news, Lou Neigh has reached number 3 on the FBI's most wanted list, and has escaped from prison recently...The Riversville police are on high alert to find the fugative, please do not panic."
However, this did not settle the girls stomach as she knew that Neigh was a rumored psychopath who likes to hunt people. He had been taken to jail numerous times for anything from selling drugs to mass murders. This was the third time he escaped from jail, and he had yet to get sentanced to the death penalty which had greatly angered many people...Yet some think he was merely framed for the deeds he had done and was innocent.
The girl was still unnerved by the fact that a fugetive was on the loose, and to calm her nerves, she switched the radio to her favorite music broadcast station...
...
...
...
Hours passed, and the girl dozed off...But awoke to a sudden noise outside...She quickly shut the radio off and placed an ear to the window...
She heard the sound of somebody comming down the steps to the front door to her house...Quickly she stood and quietly she made her way to the door...Her heart was rattling against the ribcage in her imprisoning chest as she heard the figgure come closer...She quickly retrieved a fryingpan...Just in case the person turned out to be her worst fear at the moment.
Her heart stopped for a brief moment as there was a rapping noise at the wooden door. Armed with a fryingpan, her hand grasped the cold metal knob and started to turn it, as she backed away, she fell backwards, letting out a cry of fright as a figgure entered her house...The fryingpan flew backwards and glided along the floor, making a clang noise as it collided with the floor.
"Was that a fryingpan, or are you just glad to see me?" asked the man. It was the girl's boyfriend.
She greeted him, and let him in, trying to keep calm as she explained the situation at hand...
It had turned out that the man had heard the news on the radio, and went to check on his girlfriend...She was relieved as she had listened to the other hal of the story, and apologiused.
The two of them laughed it off and thought nothing of the worst when there was another knock at the door.
"Oh...Probably my parents...Here...Go into my room and hide in the closet...I'm sure I can think of an explanation." quietly, she hid her boyfriend into her closet as she went to answer the door...
Her sisters woke up to nothing but a cold, bloody scream at 3am in the morning...
And that was the last sound that was remembered in the household.
