This is something I've wanted to learn to do for a long time.

I know you have ot boil your rice, and certain side dishes and seasonings can help make your rice more...potent, er tastey.

But what makes GOOD rice? I mean, is there a particular sauce or spice that you've fiound really makes rice scrumptious? =O

Hmm well with white rice I like it to be severely separated, every grain appearing beautiful.

You can use some garlic, tomato sauce, and chicken broth. Really adds some nice flavor. Be sure to add cooking oil.

Then fried rice. Real simple really, you just take the rice, the oil, and some meat. Any meat really. Maybe some salt too. And let the meat fats help fry the rice. Taste as all hell. Eggs are good too. If you use eggs, be sure to put them in first and I like to scramble them then add all the rest of the items.

I can't eat rice too easily anymore because of my braces, but I think any sort of teryaki vegetable/tofu/or any kind of meat such as chicken, pork, or beef makes rice fucking great. I like Spanish rice, quite a lot, also.

In Spain we cook it differently, and it's so freakin good. You put olive oil in a sauce pan and fry garlic until it's a bit brown, then put one cup rice in and fry it for a bit (add salt to taste) then add 2 cups water and boil for 20 minutes. It's so much tastier.

I do sticky white rice as well, and if you add in, per cup, 2 tbsp of rice wine vinager, 1 tsp sugar, and mix in the rice, it's GLORIOUS

I'm not really a big fan of any vinegar, but I may try the garlic one.

That is, on a night i have no social engagements planned. I find that garlic makes my breath raunchy. Even when I don't notice, other people do. ^^'

Just the right amount of salt. I like a nice 50/50 taste- 50% the original thing, 50% spices...
n_n
Sometimes butter, but it takes a lot to get it to around 50% though.

See, that's the thing I suck at. Ratios.

Maybe this is why my rice is lacking? o.0?

rice wine vinager doesn't taste like inager though. It's sweet. If you've ever eaten sushi, you've eaten it, because that's what they use on sushi rice.

It's been my experience that rice doesn't seem to hold any flavor. I've tried a lot of things and it never tastes any different. I've tried this chicken soup mix I get from my Mother-in-law, it's quite strong and it doesn't work, butter, salt, beef boullion, nothing works.

Peanut butter makes rice taste great ^.^
Boil some rice. Instead of using one cup rice - 2 cups water, use 1 cup rice - 2 cups chicken stock. Real chicken stock helps, but the stock cubes are fine if you don't have the real stuff.

Then in a wok stir stir fry some onions with some chilli powder and a bit of cumin. Throw in any leftover meat you may have - Turkey, Chicken, Ham all work well... or all three work even better. Add some black pepper corns. Mix in half a jar of crunchy peanut butter and stir until peanut butter has melted a little. Mix in the rice.
= <3
If you like prawns, add some of them.

Serve with tomato and onion salad. Sliced Bananas. Boiled Egg (quartered), Cashews and Raisin

Well, it would depend on what type of source or things you like then try putting it with rice. For me, it's curry, really spicy and between warm and hot tastes the best to me.

I personally adore sticky rice, especially riceballs with sesame seeds, dry sea weed, and wrapped in seaweed. C:  Darn, now I'm hungry! *cries*

I'm a boring, American rice eater. I toss it in my rice cooker, along with whatever random spices I have handy, usually Mrs. Dash or something of the like, and add a light sprinkling of soy sauce before I eat it.

I like my rice (cooked) soaked in like REAL chicken soup (not the ones you get from can; the ones you add water and cook with a REAL whole chicken). Also, my mom makes this sweet soy sauce like thing (literally just have soysauce and add sugar), but it's usually used to cook meat. I like mixing my rice with that sweet soy sauce like thing too.

Other than that, I mostly eat white rice along with side dishes (like vegetables, fish, etc.)

I'm chinese, and I've been brought up eating rice every day/night for at least one meal.

We use a rice cooker - so when I had to cook rice in Culinary Arts class in middle school, my friend and I messed up badly (she's chinese too). The chef/teacher asked us 'how?' (since we were chinese). Lol -"I use a rice cooker at home" Chef: "Been Americanized, huh!" ROFL.

So, I can't cook rice in a pot over a stove.

I've always liked plain white rice, and if you want to add sauce to it - tomato and eggs is good, or just soy sauce. I love the lobster sauce my dad makes - but since I'm allergic, and lobster costs a lot - I rarely get to eat it T_T

My sister and I LOVE throwing chicken in the rice cooker with my mom's specialty sauce (I suspect it's just soy sauce). Tada! Chicken Rice, mmmhm.

Though my dad makes great chinese Fried Rice - I've gotten kinda sick of it. My favorite rice now is spanish rice. Haha... don't tell my dad! >O< He's a chef - and feels threatened when I fall in love with food he doesn't like to cook. (I eat spanish rice when I'm eating out)

Very nice! I occasionally toss some vegetables in the cooker with my rice, or add some grilled chicken to it once it's done. :)

I like putting eggs and green onions in my rice, usually white, as well as soy sauce. I like putting in carrots and strips of celery, as well as really hot spices (but that don't make is sticky and nasty).

I'd say what else I put in some of the concoctions I make, but you guys would get sick. >-<

Not really.

I like my rice plain, when it's just kind of sticky and not dry, and with side dishes that my mother makes.

Or in my mom's fried rice.
