But I can never find a situation to use it in.
Same with the word "ethereal".
I just cant find any place to ever use them!
If I do use them, people give me weird looks. :<
It makes me sad.
All the best words have no use because they mean something obscure, or theyre just.... not used in normal conversation. So when you do use them, people freak out.
Do you have any words or phrases that you've been saving for the right time? Does that "right time" NEVER come up?
Whats your favorite word, and do you ever get to use it? D:

Osmosis is when molecules are transported from one place to the other (normally in water) but it is like a comon word when you ask:
How am I supposed to learn this without the book? by osmosis ?? xD
and ethereal is something that is in the ether normally you cant see it but it is there, like the spirit.

I know what they mean, i just never get to use them in normal conversation, which makes me sad. xD
I think you can also use "ethereal" to describe something hauntingly beautiful, or otherworldly. :3

I speak too slang-y and valley-girl like to be able to use them smoothly D:

In fantasy and mythology tends to use the word ethereal a lot.
But I tend to view those sort of words as jargon or poetic/flowery terms. Not the words of every day conversation.

For a long time, people didn't use the word lovely. Then all of a sudden I was using it. It was really weerd. My favorite word right now is Diddlysquat. I'm not sure if I made it up or if it exists or not, but I heard it somewhere and it just stuck. XD

I'm not really fond of the fantasy genre though, I like sci-fi/cyberpunk. D:

Oooh. I know one for Osmosis.
You know the movie "Osmosis Jones"? He should have really been called phagocytosis jones because he ate the criminals and he wasn't made of water.
Yeah. I'm a bio major. :)

I love to use words like that i conversation and often do. For a long time (since I was 10) people have accepted it as the way I talk. I love to use words. My worst habbit though is when my friends learn big words so they can try to match me and I just use even more obscure ones. Like my friend Kat said smething and then added "See I can do big words to" and got an answer that simply left her blinking and made her eventually ask me to dumb it down a bit for her :P

I used to try and use big words, but I gave up after a while because I just sounded funny! Hah xDDD
Now, if I use big words I usually put on a British accent and pretend to sip on tea as I say it XDD
I'm so weird.

Well. Even if he was water, he wouldn't have been osmosis jones. Cause he like enveloped the bad dudes XD. I liked that movie. I just thought that it was kind of like... weird. Cause the outside part was soo random. The mom died because she was unhealthy??? That sucks.

I adore the word ethereal.
I find excuses to use it when I can. I love looking at girls at my school, one of them has such ethereal blonde hair. Almost green-ish ;___; I want it.

I prefer to make up words.
Like bishopry. As in a Catholic Bishop's full out uniform with the folding cardboard hat. : D
And Osmosis is an alright word.
But ethereal is just awesome. <3

I used that word a little over an hour ago when we sat down to study before the exam. I layed my head on my open book and said, "I'm ready for osmosis". Then had a brief conversation about how I wished that worked and how, one day when it's useless to us because we'll be frigging old, they will probably have invented something the equivalent of osmosis for learning.

Well... for Osmosis, unless in chem class or something, the only time you would use it would be for the joke...
As in if somebody hands you a paper, and you already know everything on it, and they hand it back, you can say they work though osmosis, ditto with the idea of sleeping on your textbook before a test.
Hmm.. Trascending is a pretty situational word as well..

I love the term, "Busting a capillary."
(While we're on bodily function terms and words. xD)
I use it quite often.
Like when something seems outrageous or enraging to me.
I'm all, "OMG IMA BUST A CAPILLARY IN LYKE TW0 SECONDS!!!!1!one1!!"

- Heh. My vocabulary can be quite voluminous when I want it to be. And I like that word. Just realized it though. xD
Other words I like...Hrm....Too many. Bovine. Draconian. Usufructary. Quinquennia. Then there's my all time favorite, nefarious. You just have to say it in a certain way to make it sound awesome. xD

Hmmm...favorite words...
Ethereal is pretty cool.
Opalescent. Actually, any -escent word is pretty cool.
Inherent...I can use that one pretty frequently without getting weird looks though. :o
Paradigm...archetype...I like hard words that kind of click in your mouth like archetype does...
Rapscallion, immaculate, vernacular, akimbo, calliope, maniacal...
Lots of nifty words. :o

Hmm... "As the woman stood in an akimbo stance, scolding the children..." that's about the only time you hear about that one...
There's a fine line between words that you'll use, and ones you never will. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever say...although it may frequent my writing.
