Kole_Locke ~ Ack hard to read color font. :3 But I do have it, and earlier in this thread I asked about Dissidia ~ I got that too. I love the CG scenes... *drools* Iishii ~ Tidus <3 <3 (I hate his English speaking voice though they should of just made him silent like Link *drools again*)

Anyway.
I do like Crisis Core, I also like the FF7 "movie" I was so disappointed Red didn't play a massive part.... *sigh* Even if I don't like a game from the series I still try my best to complete it and judge it more then once. Sometimes first impressions are wrong... like I thought FFx-2 was going to be... "AWESOME!" and yeah just no. I felt they should of just left that alone. >.>;
I started playing the FF series with 7. When I got a little older I went back and got the rest for my regular xbox (uh, it's modded so I can play emu's on it instead of the pc) I just love it. I don't think there is an end in sight for the series... it's to popular. I do hope they go back to their roots though....

Thanks for the advice Kole_Locke and Iishii. *goes to find game*

My first FF game was VIII. We'd just got a PS2 for christmas, but didn't know that one needed PlayStaion memory cards for PlayStation games... I've tried playing it 9 times and every time something happens to the memory card or data or SOMETHING so that I have to start over again. I think this is a sign from God... (-_-)" I'm going to try one last time tomorrow. Wish me luck.

@ ShellyRoo: Have you played FFXII? If so was it hard at first for you to switch to the Active menu system?

Fun fact: My littlest brother's name is Titus, my parents almost spelled it 'Tidus', he was born the same year FFX came out.

[rant] I'm pretty peeved at my husband right now... we started Crisis Core together (I didn't buy it till it went on sale and had it for a month before I played it cause I was afraid that I'd get to the final boss and just not finish the game 'cause if I didn't finish then Zack wouldn't die Ha! XD) and he goes off to special forces training and asks me not to play anymore till he gets back.
Well the first part of his training is like 13 days long. I figure he'd be back for the weekend, we'd play, he'd go to the other two week segment of training, cycle-rinse-repeat. Right? Wrong. He'll be gone for 12 weeks, thats 84 days of leaving a story line to stew in the back of my mind!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! [/rant]

Tacit ~ Indeed I have. (I own almost all the FF's) And it was pretty easy after the first hour or two with the new system of doing things. At first I thought "oh this is just retarded" But soon after it just becomes normal. I hated the lines that appear... Target lines. Ugh. But you can turn them off... I don't have much to complain about FF12, but... Vaan... and how girly he is. With this odd vest thingy. ^^; Everything else was grand. Alas, I am easily pleased though.

I'm sorry Shelly, I chose too many colors of green which is my favorite color so I will vary it up for colors that are legible. I still have not gotten Dissidia yet and don't know if I will or not. It looks nice, but that's about all I can say, maybe I will after a price drop. Can you tell me who Red is again, I seem to be having a severe brain fart.
Advent Children was really fascinating, they could have easily made the movie another hour long and everyone still would have watched it. I wanted to see more involvement with the materia and spells as well as more summons like Ramuh and Shiva. I love how everyone got their moment in the sun though. It was a squeee moment in history for us hard core Final Fantasy gamers of old.

I haven't played FF X yet for whatever reason, mainly because I didn't like the leveling grid system they had. FF X Squared I heard had a good story line but was just kind of too poppy as in mainstream and kind of shallow but I do think it covered some holes and has a wonderful ending if you play right which is always nice to see. You are right, FF does need to get back to it's gaming roots for sure!

@Tacit ~ Your welcome, I would try a different memory card. I have a PS3 and so I don't have to worry about that problem. I liked FF VIII's story line although the game was really long and I hated how you had to draw spells from your enemies.

Eventually I think all of the games from IX and down will have been remade at least once.

@Masharu ~ Tactics was great, but you have to like that style, its time consuming and requires lots of patience and strategizing. Crisis Core was awesome, you should really give it a chance.

Kole_Locke ~ Green is my favorite color too. Red13 is Red XIII the "dog" from Cosmo Canyon.
I got Dissidia like... an hour after I asked about it. . . I love it. It's different. But it's just an awesome time waster. Sephiroth is just ... ridiculously badass. I say this because I beat the Normal Arcade mode (5 battles) in less then 4 minutes. He just owns.
I liked the movie, but like you said I wanted to see more about materia, and summons...more of what the game the game.

I like FFX but, it was odd. Like if you messed up on the grid system you'd have a heck of a time fixing your mistakes.

I'm a FFVII fan, though I do think FFVIII was better. I'm one of those few who found the draw system fun. My favorite fandom is FFVII. I know so much about it. xD

I loved Crisis Core and Dissidia's pretty fun (my eight hour save file got deleted though ;____;) Crisis Core is probably my favorite PSP game. I fangirled (Zack! Genesis!) and made so many references to it when I started playing it, it wasn't funny. Sephiroth in Dissidia is stupidly overpowered. Have you seen his limit break?

I've played VII, VIII, IX and part of X. I've also played Crisis Core, Dissidia, Tactics (original Psx one), Crystal Chronicles on DS, Chocobo Tales, Chocobo Dungeon and Relevant Wings. I'm going to get around to playing VI and under though, especially VI and III. Oh and I watched AC so many damn times.

Jeez. I'm such as fan.

I like the older games because their more in keeping with what the Final Fantasy line is suppose to be. But for the newer games FF 7 and 9 are my favorites. 9 is very much like the old games which I liked plus it had more of a fantasy like story and I just loved the look of it. And 7 was the first to be on the Playstation system using what was then new graphics etc. I really liked it and was drawn to the story and to Aerith and Cloud's characters.
It's hard to explain but these two games had a lot of what I love when I want to play and RPG game.

nette ~ Aw! I hated 9 when I first played it... but I kept trying and trying and sure enough I love it all the same. I am currently REplaying the game over on my husband's PSP... Modded all that jazz, and I just... I grow to love it even more. So I totally and completely understand where you are coming from.
Although I am not a huge fan of 7, I replay that one often. I can get lost in Golden Saucer... I love that place...

Aeronaut ~ I know. I know. SEPHIROTH is Just SUPER ridiculous. Just comboing with him a few times gives him enough time and power to go into EX mode, and just tear shiz up. I laughed my BUTT off when I saw how powerful he was. Same as Jecht... gosh that guy can combo... and be ridiculous too. Still though, not as powerful as the main man Sephy.

Oh duh!! Red XIII of course! LOL!! Well, Red XIII was not encountered until the main story took place, but it still would have been cool to have had some reference actually and now that I think about it-- they should have put him in there to show how he was captured. I know very little about Dissidia other than it is a fighters game. The grid system on Final Fantasy X was my biggest gripe.
What do you think about Final Fantasy IV? They also had After Years which took place seventeen years after Final Fantasy IV and starts out with Prince Ceodore who is Kind and Queen Cecil and Rosa's son. He is trying to earn his way into the Redwings. The game is so fascinating, and the mysterious girl who seems to take the forefront as one of the games villians.

@Aeronaut ~ I can see how others would like Final Fantasy VIII the story line has a lot of redeeming qualities. You should also try Final Fantasy IV, a very good game! I remember Tactics with Ramza and Delita, a very tragic and sad story.
I'm playing through Final Fantasy III right actually, it is pretty challenging!

@nette ~ Final Fantasy I and IV are my favorite old ones and you should play IV, the after years for sure!

Kole_Locke ~ Final Fantasy IV, mmm I have it but I haven't actually sat down to do much with it. When I finish replaying 9, I will have to take a look at it. I sometimes can't get into the older ones.... I'ma be a bit shallow and say "the graphics make my eyes go X_X!" Since I started with 7... it's harder for me to go backwards. But. I try. :3 Then I'm going to jump back to FFX, now that we were talking about it it makes me wanna go play. Ahhhhhh what I wouldn't give to have more time in my day!

They have an updated version of Final Fantasy IV on the Nintendo DS. The graphics are much better they even have Computer animated sequences that are just really totally awesome!! I'll give you a taste of the story. It starts off with the main character named Cecil who is a dark knight of a really powerful kingdom called Baron. The king has started acting strange and having Cecil who commands the Redwings which are a fleet of high powered airships. The king has ordered Cecil to attack the magical city of mages called Mysidia and take the crystal of water. The sequence starts of with Cecil feeling bad about what happened in the raid and he and his soldiers are questioning the king's orders. When they return they are greeted at the gate by Cheif Baigan, a commander of the palace guard and Cecil mentions it to the Cheif. The Cheif then informs the king of Cecil's discontent and give Cecil audience. Cecil questions the king's intentions and then the king gets furious and dismisses Cecil from his post and sends him with his best friend dragoon warrior Kain who tries to defend Cecil on a mission to the valley of mist to visit and deliver a package to the village of mist... Then the game begins.

Are you saying you haven't played Final Fantasy four, five, and six?! You have got to give them a chance, all of the are such wonderful games and have great story lines. I must say that Final Fantasy Five is a bit on the dry side though, but definitely four and six for sure. I didn't like the whole gaming aspect of Final Fantasy Seven's Dirge of Cerebus. I thought it was clumsy and not well thought out. I think they should have made it a third person perspective action game with Vincent. I must say the reason why I really got the game was because I wanted to see the almost ten minute sequence with all the Final Fantasy Seven characters in it. A year later after Advent Children, made me want to see what else could actually happen, and it kind of leaves room for more spin-offs later which may be interesting.
By the way, I still have not played Dissidia yet, I will wait for the price to come down just a little. I'm a still a little skeptical about that game.

My daughter is named after a character in Final Fantasy. That's how hardcore my husband and I are. *drools*

Kole_Locke ~ It's seriously alright. Sephiroth = Cheap :3
But, if you like FF, you might like it. I like it, but some of my other friends don't. It appeals to me because I can see the characters in a new view. They are all awesomey-graphic'd. You know, since like.. some of them were pixels, to blocks, to some smoothness but still had kinks... :3

I will give it a try next month when I decide to buy a game. For now I'm all tapped out of my gaming money I have because I had to buy more text books. I'm still trying to finish Final Fantasy Four and the After Years. It's final dungeon is so freaking huge!
Not to mention that you will encounter old bosses from previous and later games... which is weird.

My first Final Fantasy was VII, but I was young so I didn't get past the first boss. It was an okay game, the beginning always bored me.
Then I got FFX, one of the best stories in my opinion. It's so sad the way Tidus leaves. Y_Y I played X-2, beat the hell out of it but, because there wasn't any more Tidus or Auron playing, I didn't like it. :headdesk:
FFXII has some of the best character personalities in it. Balthier's voice is just awesome, this is coming from a straight guy. Basch's Quickenings are like watching Dragon Ball and Vaan's like watching...volley ball. :offtopic:

All in all, I'd have to go with FFX being my favorite game.

And my favorite Character being Jecht, cause he 'gave birth' to Tidus.

I have played 7,8,9,10,10-2, and 12.

I have only beat a couple of them though, I tend to borrow or rent and must give them up before I am finished. I do own 8,9,10-2 and 12 though.

9 is my favorite, I enjoy the simplicity of the world, its not so real life as 8 and 12 are for example. And I love the graphics in the short movies they play.

Favorite character though is Zell, he is just so upbeat and ready to go all the time. And funny, even when he isn't trying to be.

I think it's funny how most of the older generation prefer Final Fantasy Seven and the new generation prefer Final Fantasy Ten. I like the story to ten but hate the leveling system as to me it is annoying as hell. I played Final Fantasy Twelve but still have not finished it yet. I kind of miss the old school style games. Final Fantasy Thirteen better pull a rabbit out of the hat or Square Enix could be in trouble. They have spent tons of money on that project so they better hope it doesn't flop. The whole idea of Final Fantasy Fourteen is just redundant in my opinion. I think they will definitely lose money over time.

I've played 7, 10, 10-2 and 12, and I think 10 was my favorite too. But I like shiny things, so 10 is more appealing in that sense... I should probably play the older games, but I just can't get excited about them for some reason. I guess I did try to play 4 on my DS, but I didn't keep up with it.

I'm a younger gen. I prefer FFX because of the story. That's the only reason. FFVII, as I said, was my first and actual favorite Final Fantasy.

My all time favorite FF game HAS to be 9 hands down! I love Kuja..sure he isn't a playable character...but he is so dang sexy! seriously! lol

The worst FF game would have to be the first one, sure it is a classic..but the ending just .... sucked..

The last one I played was XII but I never finished it, I need to though..it is so beautiful.

my favorite playable character...Irvine...from VIII; I love them cowboys.

For Final Fantasy games, I think I prefer Final Fantasy Tactics/FF War of the Lions...
I've played, Dawn of Souls, 3, 4,5,8,10,X-2, 12, Crystal Chronicles, CC: Echoes of Time, Tactics, Tactics Advanced, Tactics A2, Tactics: War of the Lions, Dissida.. Then there was some other older ones, but eeeh.
Least favorite has to be 12.....Good story line and all....But, the battle style I didn't quite like...Preferred the old battle systems.
