Oi, I hate that too. ><; I'm pretty sure there are Asian guys out there that sound feminine enough to do the girly boys! Even we have guys that can sound pretty damn fem. *Greg=love* XD I can understand having girls doing little boy voices *due to age and voice change* but girls doing older guys is dumb. Kinda like how in Fushigi Yugi they had a woman do Noriko's voice even though it was a guy and we find that out later on. ><;
Yeah, I think manga and anime have random moments where they have to fill in a couple episodes or something. Inuyasha is a BIG example of that. ><;
Yeah, Negima does that too because Ken wants you to get to know ALL the students and have Negi have some connection with them and it's so boring! T^T

lol @ Greg
i have heard anime, when the male is the lead voice for a teen character to even a child. so its not impossible.
some female VAs just dont nail it imo. oyi like Hayate (combat butler). i was hoping for a soft sounding male voice, instead its a woman...i mean out right tone of it. i was so disappointed lol
i get in japan, that its suppose to make older male characters sound all sensitive, mysterious, and pretty. but there are times when it just does not work! XD
my opinion, so you may trip:
-Bankotsu (from Inu Yasha) both English and Japanese is an example of good tone for a male character. it actually fits how the character looks and acts, plus the English one had me crackin up when she switched from sweet to cocky.
-Yuki (from Fruits Basket) in Japanese...would be my example of a bad choice for the character. its not intimidating, its not attractive, its not sweet. it just doesnt work. the character might as well have been a girl for the anime if they were going to give him such a weak voice.
-Naruto. (from Naruto) lol. both in Japanese and English, he has that boyish voice, that can be cute, and has a lot of personality. in German...oh boy, its like they didnt even try. the voice actor is male and too deep to pull off how hyper Naruto can get.
===
with filler type chapters in manga. at times you can see when the mangaka actually put thought into bringing out side characters, if it takes a few chapters then fine i will be hooked if its good. then there are those manga where you know the creator just made something up, took no actually time. its like putting a frozen fish on a plate and saying "enjoy".
their past or current character growth, doesnt have to be spectacular, but it shouldnt be so "its like this because i couldnt think of anything" either :lol:
ugh like giving Makie (Negima) a chapter that just had her flash her undies for the rest of the pages...is not good. it makes her character look cheap, and she is a really sweet character.
i did not feel sorry for her, when her Gymnastics Coach calling her childish. to me she acts like a regular girl with some faults.
Akamatsu just didnt bring her out in a good way in that manga chapter, and the anime gives me the impression that she is an idiot.

As much as i loved the dragon ball series i think they draged it way to long...if it takes a super human 2-3 eps to power up...it kinda gets boreing.
Inuyasha's ending made me want to through tomatos at the screen ^^;; and the fouth movie was just horribul.
I wish they did a little more with full moon, i was hoping to see a serten couple hug after the big operation.

My biggest anime disappointment was the end of the D.N.Angel anime. I just felt that it was rushed and didn't take on too much of the manga and the whole anime was filled with too many filler episodes. The ending just filled me with a 'meh' feeling.

NEVER give BeeTrain adventure works...ever. they can stick with Dot Hack. Tsubasa is a snore fest with them in charge.

I would have much preferred IG Productions had taken hold of Tsubasa in the first place. They did a fantastic job with the movie and from what I can see of it, the OVA.
....I do admit, though, the only reason I really read the manga is for Kurogane and Fai. *brick'd on spot*

The manga has a better ending. I wished I wasn't spoiled but the ending for that was Lucy did came back, but Lucy isn't the cool Lucy anymore. Nyu is the one who came back since both of those horns were removed. I liked Lucy better than Nyu. =(
Tsubasa- I totally agree that BeeTrain killed the awesome manga. The first season was good except the panning 30 seconds of the same screen. It does get on my nerves quite easily. The second season was killed by fillers. Fillers are my hated enemy. >_> At least the manga has Fai/Yuui's past nearly solved in the manga.
Naruto- I still do wonder why I'm hanging out in a site which is obsessed with Naruto. Heck, I thought the second arc would be great but eating dead people, destroying the laws of elements, and making everyone happily ever after? Gosh, that killed my mind just reading it.
Suzuka- I can't believe I finished this anime. I should've given this up when I was still in episode 5 maybe (just because there was one character that actually interested me). Too much of a stupid love story for me. The only thing I could praise about is the music is great there...everything else stunk for me.

*to Bunai* Well some side episodes are fun because they get to go out and actually do something enjoyable and it can be a chance to get to know side characters a lot better but you're right. If there are TONS of filler episodes there's that sneaking suspicion that the creator ran out of ideas. ><;
*to titaneatomoe* Well I'll love DB+DBZ cuz it was my first anime next to Sailor Moon so for me it can do no wrong. XD GT doesn't count as DB since Toriyama had nothing to do with it. As for Inuyasha...I threw my shoe. XD

Spoiler alert! semi..
[list] For me, That would be naruto... I heard so many good things about it.. then.. when i saw it... I CRIED! I SERIOUSLY CRIED! IT WAS THAT HORRIBLE!
The whole 'scream out your attack while doing gey hand signs' really freaking urked me.. I wanted to go to CN HQ and choke the person who thought it was OKAY to butcher the series
11-10-2007, 04:16 AM
*to Akstar* You said it. ><; We didn't even get to see the last two members of the zodiac and the manga wasn't even half over at that point. *sigh*
*to Zombie Secks* It's not Cartoon Network's fault for the crap screen writing and shit voices. They only air the show, I can't remember who dubbed and cut it. But once you find out smack them. I'm all for pushing 4kids off the market. ><;

As MasterCheifRei said, InuYasha was the greatest letdown ever! I mean, It should not take 5 years to kill one guy. I wish they kept on going or had a better ending. Rumiko Takahashi should finish the series soon! It is getting too long and America is getting the short end of the stick since it is going to be longer!
Another anime let down was Shaman King! They didn't finish the series like InuYasha because it was getting too long. So they just stopped the whole competition! (which was the reason why the series has 50 episodes!) I mean all we wanted to know was who won the competition to discover that we can never even see it at all! (good thing they took Shaman King out of the Shonen Jump mangazine! Finally the series will be going faster!)
Another let down was the Fruits Basket anime! (I'm not going to talk alot about this becuase I know there will be a season 2 someday!)

you better believe we'd get a second piece to Fruit Baskets.
hmm luckily it wasnt Toei
though i am surprised the studio said there will be no season two. thats just nutty. the series on both formats is very popular, and the anime did well to portray the story. just one of the only manga to anime adaptations i like

nah no anime or manga does this to me they all rock lol
i didn't think akira was gonna be my thing but so many talked about it i just had to
i watched it thinking it was gonna be rubbish and it rocked and its totally against what i would normally like
a book i recently read the storyline sounded awesome but the book itself had bad art and didn't take he story concept as far as it could have it had funny capability but it took a more serious route and even after that it were'nt that serious
oh well it was still good but could have been better

*to Somercy* Yeah, that was a let down, my friend collected that series but it stopped being published in english so she got really upset. ><;
*to Bunai* Not a Narutard and I hardly spazz, I just hate production staff who fuck up a good manga. Shaman King was good for a couple chapters but just got tedious after a while.
*to Takuto* Exactly, Inuyasha was a big waste of time and I can only hope they start bringing out the graphic novels every month so we can get the series over with. Like I said I'm just skipping to the last book because God knows I can easily understand what's going on. ><; I don't think they're doing a season 2 for Furuba but if they did they'd make a lot of money since it has a huge fan following.
*to Neon* Yer lucky and Akira rocks! *dance*

that was not at you kid :lol:
as for Inu Yasha. both formats are joke. but look at the rest of Rumiko Takahashi work. they have a similar formula. "Linger"
a lot of her works are aimed with a Japanese audience in mind. so anyone outside of Japan is going to think differently about the series. while Western wise, we like to see conclusions.
apparently -in Japan- repetitive activities, unreachable goals and leaving opening endings is popular and more accepted. lol
to a degree
cant lie and say i didnt enjoy InuYasha. but there are times when you cant stand the circle moments the characters/story get into

*to Bunai* I thought you were so sorries and kid? O.o I don't want to be an old biddy but I'm a little too old to be a kid anymore. XD *almost 20*
I know that a lot of her work is very long and unconclusive but that was before I knew of Ranma 1/2 and her other works. ><; Ranma 1/2 is funny but like Inu, repetitive as hell and no conclusion in sight. ><; She's very good and her art is fantastic but her stories need work. She leads off with a fantastic beginning, strong middle but starts to get old 3/4 the way through.
Yeah I like Inuyasha but that was one of the biggest anime/manga disappoints I've ever encountered. Probably because I liked it so much in the beginning. ><;
Cliff hangers I can understand but doing something over and over and just leaving the ending with nothing being resolved is ridiculous.

Biggest anime disappointment for me?
Naruto. By far.
I remember when it was first starting to grow popular, shortly before it began airing on CN. I thought
"Huh, this must be a good series, I'll have to check it out when it starts airing here." I wasn't too worried about the quality of the dub; it was arranged by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and ever since Ghost in the Shell (she was the English voice for Major Motoko Kusanagi), I have had a great deal of respect for her. I trusted it would be pretty good.
When it came, and I watched it...I almost cried. I do recall saying at least once, "Major, why have you disappointed me so!?" I thought it was just the dub that was crappy, since so many people already raved about how much they loved it.
Well...I eventually watched the original, and must say...I DO like the original better. But as far as the anime goes, I don't particularly like either that much. :x I HAVE gotten into the manga. I like it very much. But the anime just...irks me...SO BADLY...you don't even want to know. D:
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Second greatest disappointment - the last episode of FMA. Beautifully bittersweet story...but trying to squeeze Ed's resurrection, Mustang's final battle with Pride, AND Ed's sacrifice to save Al, plus the aftermath, into thirty minutes? That was a VERY bad idea. D: So...freaking...RUSHED. :x Disappointed me very much. The story was incredible...but for the love of Agate, WHY did they have to rush the last episode so badly!?
But, despite what a lot of people seem to say...I loved the actual ending, movie and all that. I just wish they'd stretched it out over a LITTLE longer. Some of those scenes could have taken a full episode in themselves. D:

*to Fullmetal Phantom* Well I will agree that FMA was pretty rushed at the end but I wasn't disappointed and didn't hate it. Yes they could've stretched it a bit but the movie made up for it and I think it went over pretty well. But I may feel that way because I didn't want another Inuyasha epidemic. XD

KID -for certain situations- is a figure of speech ^_^
like saying "Duuude" or "Guys" even though you are female.
lol
the lady is still reigning high in Japan.
she knows how to make some great characters. but when she gets so far because the series is so popular...its like she trips over herself.

The endings of both the anime and the manga versions of Silent Mobius disapointed me. They left a freakin huge cliffhanger at the end of everything. They both end just as everyone is heading to the final battle. And there are so many questions left hanging in the air... It just really bugged me ><
Vampire Game's ending also bugged me for a different reason. It went way overboard with the incest, to the point where there was an implied semi Oediphus situation going on between two of the main characters ><
I'll think of some more in a bit.

For me it was Tsubasa: Good characters, pretty good graphics and it is pretty intresting how they go to different worlds to collect Sakura's feathers, but if you watch to much of this it gets boring, because you know what will happen and we always see the same people.
School Days : I didn't expect that much from this anime, but it knew the main character had to pick between many girls. And I knew I had a feeling who it was. But than [ Spoilors ] they girls so insane because of jealiousy and start killing each other, I didn't think this series would be a bloody one, than I'm like woah. o__o
Lovely Complex : I love this series so much! Though the ending just dosn't seem right, it was boring. They could have [ spoilors ] added more episodes, because Otani and Risa were just fighting because Otani thought Risa was cheating on her. Than they just figive each other and move on and there they have their happy ending. Well of course every series ends like that. But the last episode was soo boring, after watching half of it I just couldn't stand finishing it.
