I would have been loud and annoying until he woke up. Normally that’s what I do when I want someone up. Now getting myself up, that’s a whole other story.

Man that sucks, I can't believe that a parent would really be like that. Its like your roles are revered or something, like your more of the adult then him right now. I am sorry that this happened to you I know its gotta suck.

Wow. Now i play Wow, but i dont ditch important thingys...

mostly because i dont have many important thingys to ditch...

just class once a week...

anyways, Wow can be addictive, i remember when i used to play for ages at a time...

I still play a good amount of time, but not nearly as much...

A parent falling asleep is neglectful? :?
If you think that's neglect, I guess you're very lucky.

While I can see where this would be irksome (I'd just have woken him up and pestered him until something happened), I wouldn't say it's really neglectful.

When I was teaching high school, we had some kids who would walk to school in any weather because the only meal they got that day was at the school.

I had students who had to take care of their brothers and sisters, getting them up and ready because mom or dad had a hangover, and would hit the kids if they woke them up.

There are far worse situations to be in. I'm sorry you had to miss out on part of school. I always hated that as a kid as well. Neglectful...could be just super-tired.

I would be so mad at him. My dad did that once. He just kept sleeping and so I woke him up and even though he was cranky and shit, I didn't care so I got my stuff together and he groggily drove me to school.

Sounds alot like my parents. My parents tell me to wake up around 5:30 in the morning while I live close to the school! They usually say that in their sleep or when they hear my alarm go off. I think some parents are just some of the wrold strangest creatures sometimes....

That sux.
I hate making my mom drive me when I miss the bus because I feel guilty.
Once, she woke me up and I freaked out because it was late and she reassured me that she's going to drive me. She had woken up early to call my relatives in China and I was able to sleep in half an hour. <3

To everyone who continues to criticize me about this:

I don't have a very good relationship with my dad. At all. Waking him up isn't really an option. And just because I didn't personally go in and wake him up doesn't change the fact that he went back to bed and repeatedly hit the snooze button, knowing I was missing school.

And that wasn't the only incident. There have been multiple nights where he's made my brother more than enough food for dinner, but for some reason or another there's an excuse as to why I didn't get any food. I've heard the "Sorry, the dogs ate it when I left the room" excuse quite a few times, when it was clearly obvious that he forgot I was here.

I don't really care about any of that, though.. this particular case annoyed me, however, because my school schedule was messed up, and there was a bomb threat yesterday, so they're going to suspect people that don't show up to school the next day.

I'm sure plenty of you would say "It could be worse" or "Others have it worse, you know".. but that doesn't really change my opinion. That knowledge doesn't affect me at all. In any way.

Having some background makes things very different. Had you mentioned the food bit, I think the response would have been a lot more favorable to you.

Well this was more of a in-the-moment kind of thread >> And it just proved that people don't really read through the thread before they post.

I can't believe your dad didnt drive you to school when he said he was. >.< What a meanie. Going back to sleep when he promise to take you to school. What will be his next excuse 'sorry I guess playing to much W.O.W and I forgot to sleep'. -.- Next time he said that you should get cold water with ice and put it on him, let see he will forget about you then. >> At least I wont forget my kids when I have any.
